17. Baltimore Ravens - Calvin Pryor, S, Louisville

Although a right tackle will be tempting with this choice, a safety to pair with Matt Elam can make a bigger impact. Like Elam, Pryor can deliver crushing hits. Pryor is much better in coverage, though.

48. Baltimore Ravens - Antonio Richardson, OT, Tennessee

Losing Michael Oher was a slight blow to the Ravens' offensive line. They should be in the market for an offensive tackle on the first few days of the draft. Antonio Richardson was underwhelming in 2013, but he's still developing. His length and foot quickness should make him a top-50 pick in this class.

17. Baltimore Ravens: Jimmie Ward, S, Northern Illinois

Speaking of Jimmie Ward …

The Northern Illinois product may not have much of a shot to go any higher than this, but he’s hardly a mistake by Baltimore at 17. At just 5-foot-11, Ward would give the Ravens two safeties on the smaller side (Matt Elam is 5-10). His rangy game also would pair perfectly with Elam, who would be freer to drop down into the box.

48. Baltimore Ravens: Stephon Tuitt, DE/DT, Notre Dame

With Michigan mauler Taylor Lewan out of the picture, the Jonathan Ogden-sized hole on the right side of their porous offensive line could go unfulfilled in Round 1 as notorious value-drafter Ozzie Newsome may struggle to make a reach for Morgan Moses at #17. Conversely, inside linebacker is not as major of a need, although C.J. Mosley does represent a significant upgrade over Josh Bynes. However, Mosley could finally fill the void of an elite level inside linebacker the Ravens have been lacking since the departure of #52 and is a great value in the middle of the first round. A former member of the Crimson Tide, Ozzie Newsome would love to add an even more distinct Alabama flair to a defense that already includes Terrence Cody and Courtney Upshaw. Beyond addressing right tackle, look out for a defensive back like rising Kyle Fuller or a big defensive end like Kony Ealy if Baltimore stays at this spot.

The hopes of Ravens fans would take a hard hit if, as this draft plays out, Stephon Tuitt JUST misses falling to Baltimore in Round 2. Still, adding Bishop Sankey would be a boost for a running game that operated with efficiency that would draw the scorn of the U.S. Post Office. Ray Rice's offseason woes merely confirm what observers could see on the field last season- that it is time for the once-elite back to be removed as the featured back of the Ravens' attack. Whether or not it is Sankey and regardless of whether it occurs in Round 2, I fully expect the team to take one of the draft's elite backs giving Gary Kubiak the final skill player needed to upgrade the offense.

6041v 308v 5.15e The Ravens need help at center, guard and tackle. Martin fills one of the three positions. He projects inside from left tackle. He will get a chance to play on the edge first because he uses his hands well and is an efficient pass protector. Intense and focused. Good body control and balance. The WR position is rich this year so Ozzie grabs one at 2/48. ARM Length: 32 7/8" HAND: 9 1/2", Bench Press: 23/225

17 BALTIMORE RAVENS: TAYLOR LEWAN, OT, MICHIGAN

Scouting Report

Ravens General Manager Ozzie Newsome is always ready to pounce if a top talent unexpectedly falls into his lap on Draft Day, which is why he is universally regarded as one of the best in the business. This would be another classic example. There is no logical rhyme or reason why Michigan OT Taylor Lewan should still be available at this point, especially since many feel he carries a similar grade to Eric Fisher who went #1 overall a year ago. Crazier things have happened in the NFL Draft though and Newsome wouldn’t hesitate to take advantage. Lewan has drawn favorable comparisons to Jake Long and there are indeed a lot of similarities, most notably their large frames, well-rounded games and blue-collar mentalities. There has been some debate as to whether Lewan is capable of protecting the blindside at the next level but an impressive showing against Jadeveon Clowney in the 2013 Outback Bowl along with an outstanding workout at the Scouting Combine should have put those fears to rest. Also keep in mind that similar concerns were raised when Long was coming out of college and they proved to be unfounded. Even in a worst-case scenario Lewan should have no problem excelling on the right side.Notre Dame OT / OG Zack Martin should be in the mix as well. Baltimore will most likely be in the market for a wide receiver too since Steve Smith is only a short-term solution and potential targets include Marqise Lee of USC, Kelvin Benjamin of Florida St., Brandin Cooks of Oregon St. and Odell Beckham of L.S.U. Alabama ILB C.J. Mosley and Louisville S Calvin Pryor would garner strong consideration as well and it may be difficult to pass on North Carolina TE Eric Ebron if he were inexplicably still available.

48 BALTIMORE RAVENS: STEPHON TUITT, DE, NOTRE DAME

Scouting Report

Large physical specimen with durability issues could play either DE or DT depending on scheme.

  1. Baltimore - Mike Evans, WR, Texas AM
Joe Flacco needs weapon, and adding a 35 year old Steve Smith isn't enough. Evans brings the toughness and physical style of play that the team missed when Anquan Boldin was traded. Torrey Smith can take the top off the defense, while Evans and Smith work underneath and over the middle of the field.

All the Pryor picks are simply lazy picks to fill out a mock. Pryor is a horrible fit for us.

I think the one with Ward to us at #17 is spot on. I'm not saying we will take him, but I'm saying that is where we will need to take him.

17. Baltimore Ravens — LSU WR Odell Beckham Jr.

Beckham can play all three receiver spots and return punts and kickoffs, making him a valuable piece on a team that lacked receiving weapons last season. A package of Torrey Smith and Jacoby Jones on the outside, Steve Smith and Beckham in the slot and Dennis Pitta would be an outstanding upgradge for Joe Flacco this season.

48. Baltimore Ravens — Virginia OT Morgan Moses

Long-armed project is worth the gamble and could find his way into the Week 1 right tackle mix.
