Knowing the lengths the league goes to vet players before the draft, how deep they went into the Mike Vick scandal, the Ray Lewis situation, I do not believe the league when they claim they did not see the vid before it was released.

Yep.

Im just throwing out 100 questions here today..

Do DV victims have rights? dont they have to give permission of a DV act if caught on tape? Does she have any legal recourse vs Tmz?

No. She has no expectation of privacy in a public place.

Just find it hard to comprehend that the league would come down so lenient on Rice, knowing that there was footage out there and once released, would leave egg on the nfl's face..

Or, did the NFL "payoff" the casino to not release the tape, but somebody got greedy and got a double pay day..

No, she knew ot should have known there was video cameras in public places, so the casino can do as they wish with those tapes. Unfortunately, domestic violence victims are treated as evidence, not as humbeings.

yeah they seen it. Ben wasn't even arrested and they got the hotel footage from Reno and all it showed was the chick entering his room. They expect us to believe that got that take but not this one. I hope this leads to Goodell being gone. The owners have to be getting tired of his shit.

Agreed. Goodell is giving them a black eye over and over.

I agree, no matter what actually went down with the video, he looks very bad either way. Goody needs to go,

Extended version of Rice incident shows spitting, obscenity

The NFL might not have been able to obtain a copy of the Ray Rice punching his wife in the face video, but the Associated Press did.

And the copy they saw shows more of the startling confrontation between the former Ravens running back and his then-fiancee Janay Palmer.

The extended video included audio, and Rice and Palmer could be heard shouting obscenities at each other. She appeared to have spit at him before he knocked her unconscious with a straight left.

The video was shown to the AP Monday night on the condition of anonymity “because the official isn’t authorized to release it.”

(Note to NFL Security: Try this method in the future.)

The extended video showed Rice dragging Palmer out of the hotel, and staff members at the now-closed casino saying “She’s drunk, right?” and then, “No cops.” Rice didn’t respond at that point.

While any more footage won’t change the visceral reactions to the initial viewings of punch, the fact it’s available to news organizations is an interesting idea.

For the people saying Ray is a devil, Janay is speaking up for him on her instagram account. One time offense does not make one a monster.

Food for thought since most of you are drinker. The cowboys defensive tackle, Brent? got 10 games suspension for drunk driving and killing some when he crashed.

Isn't that worse than nocking out a women who ended up with little to no injuries? Shouldn't drunk driving have the same penalties? or worse?

Battered women often do defend their abusers.

Ronda Rousey: It would have been much different if I was in the elevator with Ray Rice

Ronda Rousey vs. Ray Rice?

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women's bantamweight titleholder respects herself -- and believes other women should do the same -- a message she delivered after news broke that NFL running back Ray Rice was videotaped knocking out his then-fiance (and now-wife) Janay Palmer inside an Atlantic City casino.

"Every person has the right to be able to defend themselves," Rousey told TMZ Sports. "Everybody should try, regardless of the situation." And if she was in the elevator with Rice? "It would have been different. Much, much different."

Perhaps.

After all, Rousey has tooled men her own size in training camp -- and some as even big as middleweight -- so it's not preposterous to think she could have defended herself long enough to get help, assuming she was not sucker punched or bum rushed from behind.

Not part of the story but I found it interesting.

Sry let me be fully correct. He got 30 days. he only served 24 for good behavior. That is why I am no longer a Ravens fan.

First time I've heard you acknowledge you were ever a fan. Without getting distracted too much, maybe in the future you could say you're not a fan and for good reason, that you stopped rooting for the team... Not act like fandom is beneath you

I don''t like fan at least for what I was. I was always critical of them. Fans let the bad stuff slide and only look at the good. I don't really know what the appropriate word would be for me.

Fans are critical. Most bitch and moan at some time or other. They ride the wave of good ownership and teams to bad ownership, teams and organizations.

There's a saying: "Wherever your attention is, there you are."

If you are not a fan then you have serious issues with reading and posting of football message boards.

Why max? One has to be a fan of something, to discuss it? There are a lot of subjects I am not a "fan" of, but do enjoy conversing with others on them.

Disagree. I can't remember how many times people complain throwing they could leave like the Colts. Fans are just happy to have a little something. I think holding a team accountable leads to better on field quality.

Rice appeal will result in a hearing, with witnesses and argument

When Ray Rice appeals his indefinite suspension (as of Sunday, the plan was to file the appeal Monday; we’re told it may be filed Tuesday morning), another avenue will be opened for exploring what the NFL knew and when the NFL knew it about the notorious elevator video.

The appeal will result in a hearing, at which Rice and his lawyer can present evidence and argument in support of the appeal.

Ordinarily, the appeal would be resolved by the Commissioner or a designee who either works for the league office or who is regularly hired by the league office to handle those appeals. In this case, the Commissioner’s public statements regarding the situation and the reality that Roger Goodell is a witness to what Rice said or didn’t say when meeting with Goodell on June 16 will likely result in a request that Goodell appoint an outsider to resolve the case.

Regardless of who hears the appeal, Rice will contend that he didn’t provide a “starkly different sequence of events” than the video depicts. Rice will attempt to provide that, via testimony from people like Ravens G.M. Ozzie Newsome, who has insisted that Rice didn’t lie.

The extent of the evidence will be determined in large part by the identity of the hearing officer. In this specific case, it becomes critical that a truly independent party be retained to determine the scope of the hearing, to preside fairly over the proceedings, and to issue a decision that reflects whether the NFL is simply trying to fashion a Mulligan for itself based on the video, or whether the NFL didn’t know and had no reason to know all facts on which the initial ruling was based.

As a practical matter, the appeal and the resulting hearing will become a separate branch of the investigation being conducted by former FBI director Robert Mueller. Between the appeal, the Mueller investigation, and any investigation that may be launched by the NFLPA, perhaps the truth will emerge.
