But the last couple weeks should serve as a wakeup call that he needs to make changes to how he plays, immediately. Burfict's injury in Sunday's 27-0 loss at Indianapolis – a "cervical strain" to his neck, coach Marvin Lewis said – was the product of lowering his helmet into Colts QB Andrew Luck's ribs. This from a player who suffered concussions in Weeks 1 and 2 this season and also left temporarily after a hit to the head last weekend against Carolina. Toss in the twisting of two Panthers' ankles that cost him a $25,000 fine and led to widespread criticism, and it should be apparent to Burfict that he needs to clean up his act.
