Walking Dead: O's style

Recommended Posts

Blew a 7-0 lead, fell behind 9-7, won the game 12-9. Even after going up 7-0 I had a feeling it wouldn't be easy. Nonetheless, enormous win! We have historically played terrible in TO, so going up there and winning a series is big momentum.

Hardy and Flaherty got big hits in the ninth, but the inning was made possible by Reimold and Davis. Each guy worked a walk from an 0-2 count.

Tillman's play is very concerning:

@BaltimoreLuke: Chris Tillman's 2015 ERA is currently 5.97. For context, Ubaldo Jimenez had a 4.63 ERA at this point last year. #Orioles

Hopefully AJ gets better over the off day.

Jays, Rays and Yanks all still playing well... Yanks fading, though, a bit. Still not convinced of Jays pitching, but their bats are unreal. Rays... I think will become the Rays again soon.

When is Chen coming back?

He's rejoining the team today and starting. Schoop is back in Baltimore as well, he was doing field work with Brady. He also worked with Brady during rehab. Schoop hasn't been activated yet but he hit three home runs and two doubles in six games at Bowie. He's ready to go and will give our lineup a nice boost.

Flahertys bat had actually been very alive the last few weeks, but Schoop will be a lovely righty addition.

More excited about the utility flexibility it gives our infield and even DH slot as they don't like Paredes batting right. The question again becomes who goes away? Lough, Pearce, Young... ? Parmelee?

Ubaldo was excellent today. 1st game of a double header and no one even had to warm up until the 8th. Fantastic.

Ubaldo was marvelous today. His two-seamer/split finger combo was unhittable today. Ubaldo was able to keep his pitch count low, which is a rarity for him. Hats off to Brady for working with Ubaldo this past offseason and shoring up those mechanics. And props to Ubaldo for putting in the work and being humble to criticism. Even last year when Ubaldo was struggling, all reports say he was the most positive guy in the clubhouse and just wants to win. Love seeing a guy like that do well.

By the way, Paredes is on a tear again. I love the way the guy hits the ball.

I always thought Parmelee was a natural 1B who the O's converted the some OF in the minors. Crush is a very good defensive 1B - or at least was in years past, I think he's diminished a bit. But he is also a decent OF with an arm. I am not sure of Parmelee's OF prospects, which I assumed were the reason for the choice.

By the way ... Crush should have had the home-run that was reviewed. I was at the game, so not sure how it showed on TV, but he was totally LOST in the OF in that moment. Not unlike the previous inning where he managed to nab a ball that he had horribly misplayed...

Quick reference check. Parmelee came up as a 1B in Minny but did play a decent amount of RF. But I wonder how much of them trying to move him was because of Justin Mourneau having 1B locked down for them at the time. In early years he played most games at 1B and even in 2011 played more than 100 at 1B to only 30 in RF.
