How Long Should Joe Flacco's Leash Be on Ravens' Starting QB Job?

Jackson's passer rating jumped from 42.9 against the Chicago Bears in the Hall of Fame Game on Aug. 2, to 62.0 in Baltimore's second preseason outing, to 76.8 in its third, to 134.6 in a dress rehearsal against the Miami Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday.

The 21-year-old Louisville product completed seven of 10 passes for 98 yards and a touchdown while rushing three times for 39 yards and another score. He led three long scoring drives in the 27-10 victory and looked crisp in what head coach John Harbaugh thinks was a breakout game, according to ESPN.com's Jamison Hensley.

I think this talk is getting silly. I expect Joe to be benched but Jackson doing well against basically the kind of talent he saw last yr is no big deal.

You expect Flacco to be benched? Has he EVER been benched before? Is Lamar that good that Joe should be benched? I hate to say this, but- you're a real ass clown.

Baltimore Ravens: Why RG3 Will Not Make the Ravens’ 53-Man Roster It’s a good story that Robert Griffin III has had a good training camp/preseason, but it doesn’t make sense for him to make the Baltimore Ravens roster.

Hopefully the Baltimore Ravens will be able to trade Robert Griffin III to a team in need of a backup quarterback in the league before teams need to be at 53 players. It would be a little ridiculous for the Ravens to carry three QB’s all season.

Say RG3 does make the 53-man roster, does that mean he would be the backup and 1st round pick Lamar Jackson is the third string QB? I’m sure a lot of fans will be scratching their heads considering the Ravens traded back up into the first round of the draft to get Jackson.

The good thing for Griffin is that he’s played well enough to be on a team with a need for a backup quarterback. His preseason numbers are good in limited time. He’s started two of the four games and has completed 27 of 41 pass attempts for 243 yards with two touchdowns. He’s also ran for 52 yards on 11 rushing attempts.

For someone that was out of the league in 2017, he’s shown that he’s fully healthy from his previous injuries that plagued him in Washington. Maybe all he needed was to get healthy for him to show his potential instead of being rushed back on the field.

If Ozzie Newsome could work out some sort of trade before the roster needs to be finalized, then it will show that this offseason signing was a success. If not, it gave the team a sense of how good RG3 could be when healthy.

Robert Griffin does have the talent to be in the NFL, but it won’t be with the Baltimore Ravens as the backup quarterback. That’s already been determined by Lamar Jackson as he’s the future for the Ravens.

Totally disagree.
