Ravens Chargers

At half time I didn't want to look at the stats...but I did... :fishin: Lamar had a 0 QB rating.

With 10 minutes left the Ravens offense had 74 total yards....24 rushing yards... :scared: ....you can't make this shit up. Only the Ravens come up with some new level of futility.

The comeback was fun. During that final defensive stop, the crowd was yelling out of their minds. We were united. It felt good.

From my vantage point, on the final offensive play, Lamar had 2 receivers running stride for stride down the seam toward the end zone and Lamar was trying to throw the ball there. They were open. Either one catches it and they score. It looked that close, yet credit the Chargers....Nwosu made the big play to seal the win.

This was to be expected with such a one dimensional offense. They took the run away and made Lamar throw. He can't do that well so the offense was nil.

Absolutely feel the same way! Lamar will take big steps forward this off-season and come back a better passer with better ball awareness. Might not be next year but very very soon the Ravens will be back in the Super Bowl.

That goes to my predictions about Lamar from before the draft. I don't think he mechanics are good and I don't expect them to get much better.

I agree totally, an expanded playbook is going to help Lamar also. And a new OC, Marty just isn’t a consistent good playcaller, and in games like today it really shows

Harbs will never let that happen.

The Chargers had an answer for the RPO and the Ravens couldn't counter it.

It takes too long to set up the pass out of that formation. The O line was slow at the point of attack and did a poor job in pass protection.

Factor in that Lamar was inaccurate in the first 3 quarters and you have a horror story. Receivers were open and he couldn't find them.

The formula for beating the Ravens in the future is to stop the run and force Lamar to beat you with his arm. Sell out on the run like the Chargers did.

The only ray of sunshine was the final 10 minutes when the Ravens had to abandon the run. The Ravens have to build on that.

Exactly what I said was coming.

The line needs to be a priority especially the interior. Zeus Jr and Stanley had poor games, but Im ok going with them forward. I believe Hurst was beat so badly they benched him, Yanda is getting old and there is no telling how much longer we can count on him. Lewis is always hurt and Skura seems to be tough but is not good enough in pass protection. Jackson has good potential as a passer but not with pass rushers in his lap all day.

I think it is timeto let Marshall go. They need to make a big effort at getting the OL up to snuff.

Supposedly the Chargers knew what we were doing based on our O-line's stances...case of game film and all...

Then they had tells. That kind of offense might lead to the OL needing to give a little to get to spots.

Article from The Athletic:

"Afforded a second look at film of the Ravens in three weeks, Chargers defenders saw that Baltimore’s offense, though complex, seemed to change little week to week. They solved parts of it and picked up clues, like left tackle Ronnie Stanley’s feet. When Stanley set them about even, it was a run, and when he set his left foot further back, it was a pass “almost 100 percent” of the time.

And when the Ravens ran out of the pistol formation, a tight end in the backfield on the same side as the tight end at the line of scrimmage almost always meant one of two running plays: “counter” or “cut belly.” On Sunday, players said it was as if Baltimore changed nothing from the first game."

Hell of an indictment on Marty and Harbaugh too

For ages the Ravens have lined up and telegraphed whether they were going to run or pass. They relied on winning the one on one battles and match ups.

They tried to throw in the first half but Lamar ended the half with a 0.0 QB rating.

The pass wasn't working because of his inaccuracy.

The Chargers out executed the Ravens. They played faster with extra men in the box and dared Lamar to beat them with his arm.

He couldn't.

Max, Totally agreed. Not along the lines of "I told you so" but really felt this just prior to the game.

Tough game and another one too close to call. Nothing surprises these days - the team who executes best will win!

FWIW- I don't know more than anyone else- probably less - but was concerned about Harbs and our guys almost taking a laissez faire attitude

to the game, almost saying well it worked well last time in LA, it should work today. We saw the results - front and center stage.

Not sure that's a fair assessment but it seemed to certainly go that way. Moot point now I suppose.

However, this team's coaches inability to make in game adjustment is extremely troubling and disappointing.

We could have Antonio Brown, Leveon Bell and Julio Jones in our offense and not sure it would have worked.

There's a much bigger matter to be addressed in the offseason- and the Biscuit, HC and OC need to get their S worked out !

The ST & D is okay, sans a new pass rusher, safety and an additional LB (Suggs/ CJ replacement).

The Offense, after nearly 25 years of ineptitude, needs fixing. Time to get er done !

QB Lamar Jackson’s 46.1 overall game grade was his lowest of the season. Among the eight QBs who started the Wild Card round, he finished last in PFF QB Rating (72.69) and adjusted completion percentage (57.7), but was also pressured at the second highest rate (47.5% of dropbacks).

How can anybody say Joe Flacco would’ve performed better? Jackson faced four-man fronts with seven defensive backs on 58/59 offensive plays. At what point was he supposed to find room? You think Flacco could’ve navigated in the pocket any better? The playcalling here failed Lamar and the offensive line gave the Chargers open season on Jackson.

LG James Hurst endured a rough afternoon, giving up three sacks and one hit. His 28.4 overall grade was the lowest on the team, and he earned an unenviable 0.0 pass blocking grade.

Hurst performed rather well this season. Many of us would agree he played well when shifting to left guard. He was a player who contributed to the 190 rushing yards per game with Jackson, Kenneth Dixon and Gus Edwards. Unfortunately, he and the rest of the offensive line failed on their greatest stage. Anthony Lynn, the Chargers head coach, found a weakness along the line and exploited it perfectly as Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram feasted on Jackson...https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/pff-offensive-line-crumbled-lamar-jackson-was-pressured-on-nearly-50percent-of-dropbacks/ar-BBRZ6GX?ocid=U508DHP

The play calling failed.

With everybody selling out and crashing in like that, there had to be 41 ways to burn them.

Could be that the plays called were from a winnowed down playbook. After all, Lamar is a rookie and hasn't much time to absorb all the plays yet. I didn't see any draws or screens or even slants being called and that is on Marty. But in all fairness, Marty did make some great calls during the 7-1 stretch run.

Next year Jackson will be more acclimated to the playbook. But it is asking an awful lot for him to improve his accuracy, do better on ball security, change his throwing mechanics, and give up the philosophy of him running so much. That's a lot to swallow in one off-season. But, he is a very hard worker who wants to do better. Maybe he'll swing it.
