Ravens to trade Joe Flacco to Broncos
11:12 AM ET
  • ESPN

The Baltimore Ravens have an agreement in principle to trade former Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco to the Denver Broncos, league sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Wednesday.

The trade cannot be officially processed until the new NFL league year begins March 13. The teams are prohibited from commenting on the deal or the terms surrounding it. When the deal is completed, it likely will be for a mid-round pick, sources told ESPN.

Kind of like Kharma going back in his face, from year's ago.

Over the last three seasons:

Joe Flacco (41 starts) 50 TDs, 34 INTs, 63.8 CMP%, 82.6 QB rate, 242 yards a game.

Case Keenum (41 starts) 49 TDs, 33 INTs, 63.8 CMP%, 86 QB rate, 235.1 yards a game.

Initial reactions are that the Bronco's are dumby's and that DeCosta pulled a fast one.

Denver Broncos: D+.........He has been Denver will have $28.5 million on its 2019 cap for Keenum and Flacco, with no quarterback of the future on the roster. It's hard to fathom how the Broncos got here, but it's an incredibly unenviable position.a slightly below-average quarterback over the course of his 11-year run. Having turned 34 in January, it's hard to believe he is suddenly going to get better over a multiyear run, especially given the lack of talent the Broncos have on offense.....http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/25988157/grading-joe-flacco-trade-ravens-broncos-how-did-denver-get-here

Baltimore Ravens: B+

The Ravens have to be thrilled to get a midround pick for Flacco, who was out of their plans and likely to be released unless Baltimore found a trade partner. The compensation suggests there were multiple teams in for him or that new general manager Eric DeCosta managed to persuade the Broncos to negotiate against themselves. The Ravens will eat $16 million in dead money on their 2019 cap and then be rid of one of the worst contracts in modern NFL history.....http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/25988157/grading-joe-flacco-trade-ravens-broncos-how-did-denver-get-here....

How common do these deals crap out?

I don't know. I think the Potomac Drainage Basin Indigenous Persons made the same deal for Alex Smith last year before the league year started. That stood.

Dang Papa, I thought with your malice towards Flacco you'd be partying like its 1999. What do you care if it blows up in Elways face ?

I am happy he was traded. I am just shocked anyone would do it since I think he gives them nothing. As for Elway I just think its funny how some of his GM decisions are so incompetent. Really nothing has changed from my perspective. I am always stunned by mind numbing moves by most NFL franchises.

Because he's an asshole.

You are and will alwasy be a incompetent jackass. You have no idea what you speak of and you really should have been aborted.

DeCosta has to be given a huge amount of credit with the beginning of his tenure. This is not a move Ozzie would have made.

John Elway: The Worst QB Scout in the NFL

Really, John? Joe Flacco is the guy that is gonna save your franchise? The guy lost his job to Lamar Jackson who posted a 0.0 quarterback rating in the first half of the Ravens-Chargers playoff game. Flacco is more washed up then Blink-82. But who knows, maybe the altitude will resurrect Flacco’s eliteness.

John Elway is without a doubt one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history. But when it comes to evaluating quarterbacks he is among the league’s worst. If any of other league executives had made the moves that Elway did, they would have been fired a long time ago. Being a great quarterback certainly does not make you a great evaluator of quarterbacks.

Redskins, Ravens discussed Joe Flacco before trade to Denver: Report

The news comes on the heels of a Denver radio host reporting the Broncos-Ravens trade came together quickly because Washington was interested in Flacco.

But the Redskins would have had to clear out a substantial amount of cap space, or have Flacco agree to restructure his contract.

Over The Cap estimates Washington has nearly $18 million in cap space, and that wouldn’t be enough to afford Flacco. Teams can always cut players to free up room, but it’s unlikely the Redskins will pay top money to find a quarterback with Smith still under contract.

Eric leveraged DCs desire that couldn't be done against Den. That is a smart agressive move. I do have to say I am liking Eric's moves early in his tenure.
