-- Jets to Interview Rex Ryan --

Thu Jan 1, 2009 --from FFMastermind.com

The Carroll County Times reports the New York Jets plan to interview Baltimore Ravens DC Rex Ryan for their head-coaching vacancy after being granted permission Wednesday. No specific meeting time has been set up yet, but Ryan isn't allowed to be interviewed this week under NFL rules governing assistant coaches as he prepares for Sunday's playoff game against the Miami Dolphins. He could meet with the Jets as soon as next week. The son of former NFL HC Buddy Ryan, Ryan, 46, is the architect of the NFL's second-ranked defense and in-terviewed last year for head-coaching positions with the Ravens, the Atlanta Falcons and the Dolphins. Ryan was promoted to assistant head coach prior to this season. "I think Rex is more than qualified to be a head coach in the NFL," Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome said in a telephone interview. Ravens HC John Harbaugh endorsed Ryan's candidacy Monday, adding that he has talked with Ryan about his prospects and hopes he will remain in Baltimore for a long time. Ryan, who's also expected to emerge as a potential candidate for openings with the Cleveland Browns, St. Louis Rams, Detroit Lions and the Denver Broncos, faces a lot of competition for the Jets' job previously held by HC Eric Mangini.

I think the Denver job would be a good one for Rex. They have their QB and a good offense, which would allow Rex to re-establish a once fearsome Denver defense. For Rex's sake, I hope he stays away from the Lions and Browns.

I think Rex is smart enough to not end his career as a HC before it starts.

He won't go to a crappy organization.

I don't know TC, your talking about almost a full house cleaning with Denver's defense. The Jets have some player on both sides of the ball. Me I would like to see Rex take the Jets job but I think they will be looking for a quick fix. The only fix they need is from the great INT king.

I would like to see Shanahan with the Browns, he could also be that quick fix the Jets will be looking for. Shanahan could be good for Brett.

I hope the Lions start doing the right thing for uncle Terry!

You are right, the Jets would be a great job for Rex as well. I am not sure if Rex would deal with the whole Brett Favre-saga though.
