  1. Thank's for the great memory and article Jeff Zrebiec! :gorave:

    Quote

Ray Lewis (Ravens middle linebacker): We went into (defensive coordinator Dean Pees’) office (before the rematch) and I took Ed (Reed) with me and I said, “Dean, you know we can’t play Peyton in a Cover 1, right?” He was like, “Why? What are you thinking?” I said, “Dean, it’s a chess match. We have to make him beat us.” … The whole thing was don’t let the ball get over our head. If Peyton doesn’t get a cheap one over your head, you’re good. Make him work for it the entire game, and he will make a mistake. We played the game of chess, because we said, “He has to make a mistake.”

Harbaugh: I remember (guard) Marshal Yanda spraying water on himself. Frozen solid. I remember their players were complaining about it. They couldn’t grab him. They were like, “He’s got a substance.” And the ref was like, “It’s ice. It’s ice.”

Jones: I was running into the end zone and I’m thanking God. But it was so quiet, so I’m like, “Damn, there’s a flag on the play.” I see Anquan (Boldin) come running and I’m like, “Oh, this s— counts.” I kept thanking God. It was quiet as s— in there.

Dickson: I was one of the first people to go down there and celebrate with Jacoby. His mom even told me, “Man, you’re one of the only people who picked my grown son up on your shoulders and burped him like a baby.” I was so excited.

The Ravens bring back TE Nick Boyle to the practice squad, as head coach John Harbaugh suggested they'd do Monday. To make room, they released DL Christian Ringo.
    [5:16 PM]
Count Ray Lewis as being a fan of the Ravens extending Roquan Smith, who the Hall of Fame MLB met yrs ago at an Under Armour football camp.
“That’s the way the linebacker position is played,” Lewis said Tuesday. “He’s built to play the linebacker position. I love Roquan Smith."
    [5:18 PM]
More Ray Lewis on Roquan: "What he does very well: Find it, get to it and punish it. Although he’s not a rah-rah guy, his leadership is on the other side of what people give him credit for. He challenges people to know it, to understand it, to feel it and to be accountable.”

  3. He writes War and Peace to say nothing.

There were more holes to fill last year than could be filled. Nobody saw Brown's quiting on the team and Lamar. Now he's having his "Desert Experience " He's having his worst season ever on a shit team and organization.  Enjoy Hollywood.

Bateman started off the season looking like a true #1. Eric got Lamar a line.

Remember the 2021 defense? We weren't going anywahere with that.

  4. #1. If they are to have a chance at winning the Ravens have to win in the trenches.
#2 They have to get a lot of pressure and make life Hell for Burrow.
    #3 No turnovers
    #4 No drive killing penalties.
#5 they need all hands-on deck. This means Lamar and Gus.
#6 All 3 phases have to show up and work in tandem to control the game. Offense, Defense and Special Teams.
#7 Be the more physical team.

Is all of that going to happen?

    No.

Yet they need to accomplish as much of these objectives as the can in order to have a chance.

We have 1 more week of football. Meaningful games in January. A fans dream! :gorave:

ESPN's computer matchup up indicator gives the Ravens a 28.3% chance. :scared:  I really like the Ravens chances. This is not the injury decimated roster that the Bengals are used to bullying.  Cincinnati’s final 10 drives ended with seven punts, a Burrow fumble on a strip-sack by rookie David Ojabo, a turnover on downs and a field goal.

Burrow was 25 for 42. 59%. 1 TD 80.9 rating. We can make it worse next week with Ojabo and Calais.

The Bengals running game; 20 carries. 55 yards. 2.8 ypc. They will have to throw.

In the two regular-season games against the Ravens this year, Burrow has thrown for 217 yards and 215 yards, respectively. Can the Ravens keep a lid on him and the passing attack for a third time?

3rd down stats for both team's suck. Ravens 6 for 16. Bengals 5-15

Believe it or not Ravens have more total yards. 386 to 257. That's because the Ravens gifted them 3 scores on turnovers.

It will be interesting to see the injury reports this week. Especially for Lamar, JK and Gus.

Right now, it's safe to say that both teams hate each other....:yeah: Why put-up false pretenses?

  6. Here's the snap count.

    Image

    Zrebiec on Twitter
“Ravens snap counts in yesterday’s loss to Bengals: David Ojabo plays 20 snaps and Charlie Kolar plays 34 in busy day for Ravens rookie class; lighter workloads for Campbell, Houston; Edwards plays five snaps before leaving with a head injury.”

And then there is the Jackson factor. He has missed the last five games with a sprained knee, but he’ll play this week. The word is already out, and Jackson will probably be out parading around the practice field as if he is here to save the Ravens’ season. If he does, good for him.

If he doesn’t, blame it on the rust and inactivity....Mike Preston: Rest will pay off for Ravens when push comes to shove vs. Bengals | COMMENTARY – Baltimore Sun

  9. I'm uncommitted until we get practice and health reports this week.

I like your thoughts on Huntley vs Brown stretching the field and the necessity to do that. Brown wins that choice.

It is very hard to visualize Lamar being ready for next week. And logical to assume he won't be playing. He shouldn't risk his health and I don't think the Ravens will force that.

If we see Lamar, it's because they were hiding him on the inside practice field, and he was throwing. If so, then he'll be ready, and I say go with him.

If this week is the 1st week of practice for Lamar, then they have to see how effective he is and how much rust remains. He must be mobile to play. If not, then sit him.

I've seen enough of Brown and Huntley to know the Ravens will lose if they start. They have no shot.

    Huntley's season stats: 658 yards 2 TD's. 3 INT's, 42.3 rating

    Brown: 22 for 44, 286 yards, 0 TD's 2 INT's and 1 fumble ..somewhere around a 56 rating.

One final thing to ponder for a Ravens offense that can't score. They did defeat the Bengals 19-17 week 5. They scored 16 today with Brown. They held the Bengals to 3 points for the 2nd half. This is a pro for those who want to start Huntley or Brown. There's a long shot chance .. IF ... they don't turn the ball over and get penalties ... and ... the D continues to play lights out.

Long shot. But I can see it.

You wouldn't know it by the score (27-16), but the Ravens defense has had a solid game today. The offense gifted the Bengals 21 points with three turnovers. Defense forced a punt on a fourth turnover. Encouraging. :gorave:

Down by 11 points, Sammy Watkins makes a 47-yard catch to the Bengals 33-yard line, but he has the ball stripped.

It's the Ravens' 4th turnover of the day, which has been the story of this game (in addition to Baltimore resting four starters and not having its top two QBs).

Bengals putting the finishing touches on 27-16 game. Ravens defense played pretty well, but was hung out to dry by an offense that turned the ball over four times, leading to 21 Bengals pts.
These two teams will meet next weekend. Game day and time will be announced later today
    [4:23 PM]
Ravens finish the regular season with a 10-7 record.
Attention turns to whether Lamar Jackson will be able to make it back for playoff opener.

    1-Chiefs

    4-Jaguars
    5-Chargers
    6-Ravens
    7-Dolphins

The scaled-down Ravens lose to the Bengals, 27-16.It’s now official: Baltimore makes a quick return trip to Cincinnati next weekend for a wild-card playoff game. Day and time TBA. It will mark the first postseason meeting between these AFC North teams.

    My thoughts:

It was a treat to watch Kolar 4 receptions 49 yards for 12 3 ypc and Ojabo w 1 sack 1 hit.

Believe it or not Ravens have more total yards. 386 to 257. The Ravens were the more physical team today. Need to see team injury reports.

Burrow was 25 for 42. 59%. 1 TD 80.9 rating. We can make it worse next week with Ojabo and Calais

Bengals running game 20 carries. 55 yards. 2.8 ypc. They will have to throw next week

I'm glad we play the Bengals next week. It will be different with Lamar, Calais, JK and Gus.

We have 1 more week of football. Meaningful games in January.  A fans dream! :gorave:

  11. Jeff Zrebiec (@jeffzrebiec)
    Ravens inactives vs. Bengals:
QB Lamar Jackson (knee), QB Tyler Huntley (wrist/shoulder), RB J.K. Dobbins, TE Mark Andrews, G Kevin Zeitler, DE Rayshad Nichols, CBs Marcus Peters and Brandon Stephens (finger/illness)
UDFA rookie QB Anthony Brown will make first career start.

  12. My guess is that both teams will rest key players in order to be 100% for the Wild Card Game. Sucks having to play the Bengals 2 weeks in a row.

ESPN has the Broncos at 21% to win. The Broncos took it to KC last week only to lose 27-20 so there's a shot they can beat a Chargers team that loves to choke.

  13. Ravens QB Tyler Huntley was limited throwing the ball during media viewing.

Huntley, seen here speaking with John Harbaugh, has been dealing with a right shoulder issue recently.

    Ravens practice report (Wednesday)

    Returned
    CB Marcus Peters (calf)

    Not present
    QB Lamar Jackson (knee)
    DE Calais Campbell (knee)
    OT Ronnie Stanley (back)
    RB J.K. Dobbins
    G Kevin Zeitler
    WR DeSean Jackson
    OLB Justin Houston

    :nono:

  14. Maybe the Bengals rest a lot of their starters as it looks like they will have the division wrapped up before the game.

    ison Hensley •
Ravens QB Lamar Jackson was not present during media viewing of Wednesday’s practice.

This would mark the 13th straight practice that Jackson has missed.

Ravens QB Lamar Jackson has not practiced or suited up since injuring his knee on Dec. 4.

It’s now Jan. 4 — one full month without Lamar Jackson.

He'll be too rusty for the Bengal game and very possible the playoffs .
