After what I saw from the Ravens Sunday night, I give them no shot to beat the Bengals.

Bengals are on fire having won their last 7 games.

You know they and the fans will be fired up to play for Hamlin and to revenge their early season loss to the Ravens.

I don't see how the Ravens can match their intensity that the Bengals had on their opening drive vs the Bills. Burrow was 4 for 4 for 52 yards and 13.0 ypp, 1 TD and a 158. Mixon had 2 carries for 12 yards.   rating. The Bills have a good D.

It looks like a slaughter is brewing.

  2. Ravens practice report (Wednesday)

There were 8 players absent from media viewing portion of practice:

    QB Lamar Jackson (knee)
    DE Calais Campbell (knee)
    CB Marcus Peters (calf)
    G Kevin Zeitler
    WR DeSean Jackson
    OLB Jason Pierre-Paul
    OLB Justin Houston
    OL Trystan Colon”

    Quote

Since joining the Ravens in Week 9, Smith ranks second among linebackers in splash plays (29), which TruMedia defines as pressures leading to throwaways, stuffs for no gain, interceptions, forced fumbles, fumble recoveries, pass breakups and stops on third down and fourth down. The Ravens’ defense has carried this team while Lamar Jackson has been injured. If Jackson gets healthy and the Baltimore defense continues to get stops, the Ravens will be a dangerous team in the postseason....Five NFL units peaking at right time: Bills’ run game, Ravens’ defense, more - The Athletic

  3. The Falcons, Browns and Steelers, Broncos, Panthers and Saints while not being very good teams, they were playing for their playoff lives at the time. We got their best shot. The offense has to help with time of possession. Do that and they are capable of holding the power offenses to around 20-25 points. Which is about 1 score below their average.

Trouble is that is Mt Everest for this offense.

  4. The Macdonald Effect:

Baltimore has recorded at least one sack in 19 straight games, marking the NFL’s second-longest active streak. The Buffalo Bills are first with 20.
The Ravens recorded multiple sacks in 11 consecutive games this season, marking the NFL’s longest active streak. During this 11-game streak, the Ravens have 36 total sacks.
The Ravens have also allowed fewer than 14 points in seven games this season, including their past four contests.
Baltimore now has three players — cornerbacks Marlon Humphrey and Marcus Peters and inside linebacker Patrick Queen — who have posted at least one sack, one interception one forced fumble, and one fumble return this season. No other team in 2022 has more than one player who has reached those marks.
    Queen has a single-season career-high five sacks in 2022.

Let's see here .... did Harbaugh bring him in?????

  5. I get your points tsyl. Definately a lot of teams have been burned, yet there are still plenty of idiot owners dying for a winner and dying to put fannies in the seats. Lamar will do that everywhere. And there are a ton of GM's and HC's trying to keep their jobs as the Nick Foles of this world destroy their security.

This should not be as hard for me to call considering how much Flacco's contract and performance hurt this team. Lamar's missing games now ... heading towards Tua territory. Locking him up for let's say 5 years means progressive team depth issues which they have already.

Not signing him means the Ravens are at best a .500 team and could be that for a long time. He's carried them no matter what anybody says. So they have to franchise him for 1 more year if they can't come to an agreement. They need the draft capital.

We'll be talking about this shit all off season ad nauseum. The rumors will fly. Fans of teams in half the league will spread rumors that Lamar is going to their team ... spread rumors on why he needs to leave Baltimore ... and fans here who are switching their love and loyalty .... this is going to get really ugly and trying.

The AFC Playoffs is LOADED at QB.

    -Patrick Mahomes
    -Josh Allen
    -Joe Burrow
    -Lamar Jackson
    -Justin Herbert

To me it says you need that very good to excellent franchise QB.

With the Chargers winning on Monday night, the Ravens can eliminate the Steelers from the playoff race by beating Pittsburgh on Sunday night.

But the Steelers would be eliminated before their game against the Ravens if the Dolphins win at Patriots or Jets win at Seahawks. :gorave:

What a great guy. He does stuff like this every week since he's been here....

    Isaih Mack is waived. Surprise.

You can sit there alone as everyone else turns on him.  I have seen so many ppl turn on him this yr.  It is very reminiscent of Billick.  But you must be cool with bad coaches.

It's called loyalty. Being an NFL HC is such a hard job. You have to battle through adversity and tough times like this when many doubt or don't support you. Adversity happens to every NFL team every year.  The right man makes it through these times. Harbaugh has seen these times before and pulled us through. Few do this successfully. Most don't make it after a few years and fans find their team back to square one.

I feel it's wrong to blame him for the injuries and holes on this roster. It's his job to make the best of it. Squeeze the most out of it. I think he's doing that. He did that last year in what was a massive coaching challenge. And came up 1 win short of a playoff team.

He's done so much for Ravens football.

I agree that more fans than ever are questioning if it's time for him to go. When he loses the team, like Billick did, then it's time to go. i don't think that time is now. How there finish out this season and playoffs could change my mind. For example, I've seen more than enough bad coaching from Roman and feel he should be canned. If he would have been let go last year it wouldn't have bothered me.

The fans don't think about the mountain of failed NFL HC's that happens every year. "Somebody else will be better" ... "the grass is always greener..." No, it's not generally. For example, I don't believe that Shawn Peyton or McVey could get 10 wins out of this roster. they need superior talent.

For now, I'm not following that herd. 9WYUw1.gif

  8. The Ravens are not going to blow anybody out, but not many teams are doing that.  Most games are around 1 score or 1 possession in this age of Parity.

Sure .... it will be an ugly snot knocker as these games always are.  I fully expect to be walking out of that stadium Saturday night, arm in arm, with my fellow Ravens fans ... :fishin: .... savoring the sending of the Steelers into "the weeping and gnashing of teeth."

JK had 120 yards on 15 carries for 8 ypc.  Harris 12 carries 33 yards for a 2.8 ypc. Steelers ran for 56 yards on 18vcarries for 3.1 ypc.

There's a good chance they will be without Campbell, Peters and Lamar.

There's an even better chance the Steelers won't play Trubisky. :fishin:

There are these things ppl carry with them.  One feature is you can call from one to another.  With this wonderous ability a player that has a relationship with Bobby can call him with information.  All this can be done without anyone at the castle knowing.

    Why? He's a nobody.

  11. Harbaugh has done a good job this year. He started the season without Stanley, JK, Gus, Peters ...he loses Fuller and Juan James during the 1st game...then he loses Means, Pierce, Bateman...then Lamar again.

That's 2 years in a row where most HC's would not be able to keep their team focused and fighting. Look at how shitty McVey has done with a loaded roster...5-10....5 and 10! His team quit for a while. They got soft.

What did Hackett do? With a great defense! Preseason pundits were picking the Broncos to be a serious contender.

Give me Harbaugh. We are damn lucky to have him.

Great coaching jobs are done in the face of serious adversity. Once again John keeps this team competitive with whatever is available.

    Is he perfect? No.

But he's seasoned and damn good.

Watch the ton of HC's get the axe at the end of the year. They all came in with fire and brimstone and left farting in the elevator on their way down.

So.... "The Ravens are in the playoffs!" :gorave: ............ and it's only Week 16.

Are you sure he has no access to players?

BTW very interesting look at Saunders.  Again Turdbaugh's buddy's get jobs even if they are inept.

Yes. All his news is old. He rehash's stuff and puts a spin on it and generally bores you to death. He may have access to the press at the Castle. I get Hensley's and Zrebiec's stuff just as fast as he does.

Ravens have ruled out QB Lamar Jackson (knee), DE Calais Campbell (knee) and CB Marcus Peters (calf) for Saturday's game against the Falcons.

QB Tyler Huntley (right shoulder) is questionable after being limited in practice for second straight day.

Ravens WR Devin Duvernay broke his right foot Tuesday when he was simply running routes (against no defenders). The x-rays showed he broke his 5th metatarsal.

"I was actually told that he'd be back for the Super Bowl," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. "I'm good with that." :yeah:

Along with Lamar Jackson, Marcus Peters and Calais Campbell not practicing, the Ravens listed QB Tyler Huntley as limited with a right shoulder designation. Huntley missed some time over summer with right shoulder soreness.

Mark Andrews was named to his third Pro Bowl. He has been selected to more Pro Bowls than any other tight end in Ravens history.

    Ravens’ six Pro Bowl selections

K Justin Tucker (6th Pro Bowl)
    FB Patrick Ricard (4th)
    TE Mark Andrews (3rd)
    CB Marlon Humphrey (3rd)
    PR-KR Devin Duvernay (2nd)
    MLB Roquan Smith (1st)
    [8:03 PM]
The Ravens’ biggest snub was guard Kevin Zeitler, who led his position in the fan voting.

It’s unreal that Zeitler has never been named to a Pro Bowl in his 11-year career. He was extremely deserving this season.
    [8:03 PM]
Ravens FB Patrick Ricard, who is a dominating blocker for the NFL’s second-best run game, was named to his fourth straight Pro Bowl, the longest active streak on the team.

Roquan Smith is a first time Pro Bowl honoree. Duvernay is a second time selection. Andrews and Humphrey were selected to Pro Bowl for third time. Ricard is now a four-time Pro Bowl honoree. This is Tucker’s sixth selection.

    -DeSean Jackson (joined in October)

-Sammy Watkins (claimed off waivers Tues.)

    Ravens WRs in 2022:
    Catches: 114 (29th)
    Yards: 1,328 (last)
    TD: 6 (30th)

We need to give Roman a little slack. (don't kill me please! I've had enough of him too). You need a miracle worker to produce with that talent. QB's need a whole off season of OTA's and training camp to get in sync with their receivers and for the receivers to learn their routes and responsibilities.

    Like he let Cam go?

He had somebody competent to replace him "in house". Somebody who knew the playbook. Caldwell had been there almost a year. There is nobody "in house' that can correct this mess, this late in the season, and develop a passing attack that complements the running game ... and ultimately score points.

The Ravens are 16th in points scored. 21.7 points per game. The #1 offense is averaging 29.6. Bengals at #5 with 26.4

They need to be in the top 5-7 to make a run.... maybe get around that 26 ppg mark.
