The judges, prosecutors and jury let this man continue to drive drunk.

Now he's killed someone.

Todd Pivec, 41, faces driving while under the influence and other charges. A public records search indicates Pivec has multiple DUI arrests.

Investigators said Ocean City police responded to a drunken driving call around 1:15 a.m. Friday. Police said Pivec was behind the wheel of a white Lexus LX57 near 46th Street on Coastal Highway. Initial attempts to stop him failed.

According to police, Pivec struck another car, which burst into flames. Authorities pronounced the driver dead at the scene. The victim's name has not been released. Police caught up with Pivec after he crashed into a telephone pole. Police said Pivec then attempted to flee on foot but was immediately arrested.

Court records indicate that since 2009 Pivec has faced DUI charges on at least four different occasions.

In June 2009, he was found guilty of DUI. In January 2017, he was charged with DUI, but the state's attorney's office didn't prosecute. In September 2017, police charged Pivec with DUI. He sought a jury trial. The outcome of that case is not known.

The Pivec family has strong ties to Cockeysville. They own Pivec Mechanical and several businesses along the York Road corridor......https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/crime/1-dead-after-alleged-drunken-driver-crashes-into-car-in-ocean-city-police-say/ar-AADe7JZ?ocid=U508DHP

It's a similar scenario for people caught with guns, drugs or have a criminal history but get off with a wrist slap.
