Alright Mitch!

He finally stepped up! And his voice really counts

WASHINGTON – Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell issued his most striking condemnation of President Donald Trump yet after the attack at the U.S. Capitol, saying the mob of protesters were “provoked by the president.”

“The mob was fed lies. They were provoked by the president and other powerful people and they tried to use fear and violence,” McConnell said on the Senate floor, casting a clear shot not only at Trump but fellow Republicans who backed the president’s efforts to overturn election results in several swing states....Mitch McConnell says attack at Capitol was provoked by President Trump (usatoday.com)

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, the New York Democrat who will lead the chamber after Democrats take control Wednesday, said the Senate must move forward on a trial to hold a precedent that the "severest offense ever committed by a president would be met by the severest remedy provided by the Constitution."

"The Senate has the solemn responsibility to try and hold Donald Trump accountable for the most serious charge ever levied against a president: the incitement of an insurrection against the United States of America," Schumer said. ..Mitch McConnell says attack at Capitol was provoked by President Trump (usatoday.com)

I did not expect them to step up this soon, this clearly and this firmly. I'm very glad it's today as Trump will try to over shadow the Inauguration tomorrow. Now, no matter what he says, he's humiliated and abandoned.

I would say that does it for Trump. There will be enough votes in the Senate to impeach him and keep him from office forever.

No. Just no. He does not get to receive congrats and platitudes four years and two weeks, respectively after having his turtle head so far up Trump's butt. No. Screw him.

I get it dee. What elation I feel comes from the fact that this is one step closer to a Senate Impeachment of Trump. Change has to start somewhere. It has it's early beginning infant steps. This is one step for Mitch from being a jerk sycophant to the beginning hopefully being a man of principle.

Another way to put this is that it's about growth. If you told 10 lies yesterday then try to shoot for 9 today. Ant steps.

On another "Gee that's too bad" note:

Then there's Trump flying off to "I did it my way". It doesn't get more pathetic than that. Really, really sad.

There will be no senate impeachment conviction. The Republican party has no soul, no spine, and no courage to do what is right.

I thought Republicans were the law and order party?

I never expected a conviction.  I just want them to have a vote.  Anyone who acquits is a terrorist sympathizer.  You scream about taking names.  Then you go to their open secrets page and contact their donors.  They are also sympathizers to terrorists.  The businesses that also do business with those businesses are again terrorist sympathizers.  All the financial backers of terrorism will be boycott and driven out of business.  Now watch the money dry up.  Also if you start this now with senators who voted against having this impeachment and letting their donors know that names are being taken and we will remember watch those donors frantically start calling senators about demanding conviction.

It's horrifying. We are supposed to have sane, rational and honest adults at this highest level of government. Months and months of promoting and backing a bold face lie. Knowing they were lying. Scared to tell the truth. Scared to stand up for democracy. They have sold their souls and integrity for power.

Yes...no spine. No character.

WOW Spen. I didn't know 140 officers were injured. The list of injuries is horrific. It sure took way too long for this come out. Another officer took his life yesterday. Imagine the anguish.
