  1. I go to Orion in Urbana or Franklin's in Ijamsville. There is a place across from Wegmans in Frederick that I have been to a few times; can't remember the name. Orion has good customer service but I always expect their selection of Maryland beers to be better; sales person had no idea what Calvert Brewing was. Orion does bring in some really nice breweries for tasting and also partners with the Maryland Surf House up the block; awesome restaurant with great selections on tap. Franklin's has awful customer service. But a convenient stop off Frederick/Urbana Pike. Mt Airy Liquors has the best selection of Maryland beer that I have come across. Customer service is excellent. Pricing is really good; got a 15 pack of 21st Amendment Hell or Highwatermelon for $16.49. I pay $13 for a six pack at Franklin's. If you ever get down to Damascus, stop by the Hornets Nest Grille. Locals kind of place with lots of local beer on tap. Good food too.
  2. MGS is still out there but fell apart in terms of member visits and the format of the board. Jonzr ran the board and he just disappeared about a year ago. I think he is okay and all but I don't know why he left. I keep up with some of the old posters like finny via social media Went to the Honeygo location today. Nice place. Reminds me a lot of the Mt Airy Liquors I like; nice selection of beers, offer growlers/fills and customer service was good. Left with a Victory Cream Ale w Cold Brew Coffee and Sweetwater The Walking Dead Blood Orange IPA. Both are very nice
  3. Calvert Brewing has a really nice IPA and cream ale. The design of their cans is pretty cool. Mt Airy Liquors has a really nice selection of Maryland beers. They also have a nice selection of growler fills, with many being local brews. Sometimes go to Downtown Crown in Gaithersburg. Will have to try the Honeygo location. Try some of the farm-based breweries. Mt Airy has Milkhouse Brewery at Stillpoint Farm and Red Shedman Farm. Waredaca is in upper Gaithersburg. Flying Dog hasn't wowed me over the past few years. Awesome bottle art but wasn't impressed with the newer stuff (summer Old Bay ale, mint julep or salted caramel). Their older beers are fine. Would rather go to downtown Frederick to Brewers Alley or Monocacy Brewing heading north on 15 out of Fredrick Cushwa Brewing recently opened in Williamsport Md. plan to get out there soon. Beer is fun. Beer is good
  4. Condolences to the Heap family and Ravens Nation. Can't begin to imagine pain and hurt they are experiencing. Best wishes to all
  5. I decided to purchase the Amtrak tix outta Penn Station. Fully refundable so if something goes wrong, either here or there, I'm good. I called up to the hotel in Philly and they'll be open and ready by Friday afternoon. I got sick of watching the local news stations and didn't catch anything said after 5p...any word on how much it might snow on Monday? What I heard earlier was little, if any. But yesterday/today was originally said to be 3-6 inches. Gotta get out of February and fast...
  6. One of the Balt. City dump truck plows came down our street tonight at around 730p and got stuck at the end. Three guys out of the truck were digging for 10+ minutes to get it moving again. I feel bad for the guys on the truck but the city should have gotten to the street sooner. The only thing the plow is taking is 2-3 inches of snow and uncovering a large layer of ice. Nice I have a trip to Philly planned for this weekend. May end up taking Amtrak out of Penn Station instead of trying to wait for the city to take care of the streets, so I could make it to 95N (if that is even passable). I hear MLK and Howard are awful.
  7. And so it has Sheesh Just finished pushing snow off the roof at the beckoning of the wife. We have some seriously scary icicles hanging off the back of the house. I thought about knocking them off but am concerned if I do, they'll take the power lines with 'em. I've lived here 2 and a half years. I work in the city but do make it to DC every so often. Plow finally hit our street today at noon. Did some good but I guess the snow has melted/frozen a few times and the plow only took around six inches off the top. Still a lot on the road, prior to tonight's snow. Rawlings-Blake has had a tough initiation. I do like the idea of calling in private contractors...hope it works to get the smaller Bobcats and front-ends to the smaller side streets. I live on a side street but it is wide enough that a plow got down it no problem. I feel for those people in Fells, Canton and Fed. Hill...they have some seriously small side streets. I've seen so many abandoned cars in the CV area. Right in the middle of intersections. And to the guy in the Mitsubishi Eclipse trying to get your low-profile car over a concrete divider at the corner of St. Paul and 33rd St., what were you thinking? I felt bad for ya but I wasn't touching that. The bottom of your car must be hurting. As a neighbor to another, despite the team affinity, be safe!
  8. Swell About 28 inches in Chaz Village. Main streets like St. Paul, Calvert, and N. Charles are passable. Side streets (mine) aren't. Donna's Restaurant in CV was open last night, which was unexpected but appreciated. The local grocery stores were pilfered by Friday morning...who hoards salad-in-a-bag during a nasty snow storm? I had to go in to work yesterday (healthcare) and know that the snow later this week won't affect my work pattern. Wishing for a trip back to SC really soon
