  1. It is still a little early for power rankings. Lets see what happens after the draft.
  2. I agree.
  3. Outside, if there are only going to be seven teams in the league or an odd number, I would recommend doing a rotisserie-style league. Either way, I would try and get a couple more teams.
  4. Remember, guys tend to overachieve in our defensive schemes and do not do nearly as well when they leave. Ozzie found Kelly Gregg, Dwan Edwards, Anthony Weaver, Marques Douglas, and Justin Bannan to overachieve for us. Finding d-line depth has never been a problem. A big reason for this are guys like Haloti Ngata, Ray Lewis, and Terrell Suggs. Considering Redding was a good talent before he got to Baltimore, I fully expect him to overachieve in our defense, he is a high motor guy like the guys I mentioned above and is thus a great fit for our defense. IMO, Redding is a better talent than Edwards, is about the same age, and has a much better track record. If Redding only has as good a season as Edwards had for us last season, this is an excellent signing for us. Remember, Edwards was considered a non-factor and a second-round bust coming into the 2009 season. Now he has a brand new deal going into 2010. Edwards is no more special than anyone else not named Ngata, Goose, or Adams we have had on the interior line. We survived when Gregg got injured for a season, we survived when Douglas and Weaver left in free agency, we will have no problem replacing Edwards and Bannan. As for Redding last season: Redding dislocated his knee in late 2008, rumors were that he was never 100% in 2009. Our training staff puts guys through intense tryouts, I am sure the knee is feeling much better going into 2010 than it was going into 2009.
  5. I love this move! In my opinion, he is just as talented than Edwards, maybe more. He is only a half-year older than Edwards, has a better track record of productivity (he has started since 2004), and we got him for a two-year deal. He is probably not as good of a run stopper as Dwan is, but he is an upgrade in the pass rush (8 sacks in 2006). Here is the upside with Redding, in Seattle he was probably playing out of position shifting along the 4-3 front as a defense end and defensive tackle stunting and twisting. In Detroit he was teammed with Shaun Rogers on the inside forming a very intimidating run-stopping tandem with the ability to crash the pocket the pocket. In Baltimore, he will be teammed with Ngata. This move will make Ngata better and will help Redding get back to being a force in this league. Once again it looks like we have a hole and Ozzie fills it! Great job Ozzie! Here is ESPN Scouts, Inc. free agency scouting report on Redding:
  6. You can thank LJ Smith for that. You only get a comp pick if you lose more free agents than you sign, no matter what the value of the contracts is. The value of the contracts can only get us a seventh rounder at the max.
  7. Apparently we are bringing in Cody for a visit.
  8. Remember, going into this past season Edwards was seen as a bust and a non-factor. He was a big surprise for us, just like Gregg and Bannan have been. I am sure one of Divens, McKinney, or Talavou will step up. And if not, Ozzie will definitely have drafted another big body to add to the competition.
  9. HAHAHAH TOO funny!!!!
  10. Why can't you guys just agree on something for once?
  11. That is how I see it as well.
  12. ESPN Scouts, Inc. 2009 scouting report on Vasher:
  13. Do we go after him? He lost his starting job last season, but he seems like a great teammate, is only 28-years old, and was an upcoming elite corner in this league before groin and back injuries pleagued his 2007 and 2008 seasons. He played 15 games this past year, so maybe his second year back full strength he could return to form? What do you guys think?
  14. We will be fine, Kelly Talavou (25-years old, 6'2" 350 pounds), Brandon McKinney (26-years old, 6'2" 360 pounds), and Lamar Divens (24-years old, 6'3" 338 pounds) are all big, young guys who have potential. I am sure one of these guys will step up. These guys have been in the league for a couple of years, and there will be competition in training camp, hopefully someone will step up to the challenge. Then we have Trevor Pryce-style ends in Paul Kruger (24-years old, 6'4" 260 pounds) and William VanDeSteeg (24-years old, 6'4" 256 pounds) who will be second-year players. VanDeSteeg was very impressive in training camp last season, keep an eye on him, whether he is an OLB or has gained some weight to play 3-4 end. And to top all of that off, we will sure get some help in the draft.
  15. I'd be down for a Thanksgiving game.
  16. Here is a good blog entry on Kruger making the transition to a 3-4 end. Kruger Working For Position Change As for 3-4 depth in free agency, a guy like former Panther Tyler Brayton makes sense. He is 6'6" 280 pounds and just turned 30-years old. He has posted good production with 40 tackles and 4.5 sacks in 16 games in 2008 and 45 tackles and 5 sacks in 15 games this past year. Here is what Scouts, Inc. says about him in their free agency scouting report:
  17. I have heard from sources that say the coaching staff does not think very highly of and are frustrated by Kruger's toughness on the field. Take it for what it is worth.
  18. That is a big loss, Edwards busted his ass ever single down this past year for us. I mean the guy was a second round pick and our investment finally paid off only for us to lose him. Why didn't we pay a player like this? Time for Kruger to step up! Put some meat on those bones and get some toughness! Are we going to have to wait four year for Kruger to develop like Edwards?
  19. Man, they shouldn't have paid Antonio Bryant 4-years, $29 million only a year after still being on the hook for some of Coles' contract for nearly the same amount.
  20. Upgrade? I'll take my chances with the Brownies lining up a QB who had 18 INTs in 11 games, despite having an awesome run game and Steve Smith to throw to.
  21. I'm in!!! I didn't play fantasy baseball last season so I am excited! Even better password! You are right though, that is a great time. That Thursday is my last day of classes before my spring break!
  22. Edwards is still very much in the picture. Teams are scared to give him a long-term deal because of his back injury. I have heard Edwards prefers to stay in Baltimore, between these two factors I could definitely see him coming back. It took Edwards a long time to develop and he finally found a good role in our defense, his potential for individual success is much greater here playing next to Ngata and Suggs in a scheme that fits his talents than anywhere else.
  23. I'm tired of all this we should draft this position. As far as I am concerned, I want players who can come in right away and make a Michael Oher or Ladarius Webb impact right away. If we get guys like that, I don't care what positions they play, our team will be much better! Get me Ravens! Oher wasn't the BPA, we trades up for him. I want targeted players like that, players that Ozzie and DeCosta single out as players that fit what we do. If that player is a WR, fine. If that player is a kicker, so be it. I want Michael Ohers, Ladarius Webbs, and Ray Rices.
  24. Good stuff from Kurt Warner on Q:
