  1. I'm a Republican and I agree with this. Cruz seems like a miserable person. He's extremely smart, which makes me think he has some psychological and/or sociological issues. He hides behind the persona of liberty and defending the constitution, but on many issues he is the complete opposite. As far as Trump: he's a wild card. I'm in the camp he doesn't believe what he's saying. He's a business guy and a master marketer. Sadly, the presidential election is nothing more than a popularity contest. He's not going to ignore all the data showing projections of him getting blown out. I'm curious to see if his message in the general election is different from that in the primaries. Regardless, I can guarantee you he has a plan that will make the general election a lot closer than it currently projects (not saying he'll win).
  2. I like Buckner a lot too. I'm scared we'll pass on him because of our "depth" and Buckner will become a star. If there is ever a case of Best Player Available vs Need, we might see it this year if Buckner is on the board at our pick. Good read on Buckner's potential as a 4-3 DE: http://www.bigblueview.com/2016/2/3/10900260/2016-nfl-draft-deforest-buckner-de-oregon-ny-giants-scheme-fit-analysis If he has this type of versatility he could be used all along the line for us. In our 3-4 sometimes that strong-side OLB is essentially a down lineman. There wouldn't be any problem finding PT for Buckner even with our depth.
  3. TS, how would you feel about Bosa being an OLB in our defense? Is whether he can make the transition a concern?
  4. Good points. It's tough with Buckner, Miles, Bosa and Spence. None of them are elite prospects, but if I had to guess one or two of them will become a star and two of them could bust.
  5. My thoughts exactly. Pretty good analysis here on Bruce's potential as a bounce back candidate: http://www.orioleshangout.com/article/5449/jay-bruce-is-a-bounce-back-candiate
  6. Good timing! http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/politics/blog/bal-amendment-would-put-the-right-to-smoke-grow-pot-in-state-constitution-20160229-story.html Leave it to the voters!
  7. @dpbrugler: Official Combine numbers for DB Jalen Ramsey. Killed it (as expected). 4.42 40-yard dash 41.5" Vertical 11'3" Broad jump Going to be very surprised if Ramsey falls to six.
  8. What does everyone think of trying to get Jay Bruce to play RF?
  9. Bosa ran a 4.84 and Spence ran a 4.8. Disappointing for the two best edge rushers in the draft. Maybe Bosa falls to us like Suggs did because of a poor 40. @AdamSchefter: Combine Compare Watt 11 Bosa 16 Height 65 65 40-yd 4.84 4.86 20-yd 4.21 4.21 3-cone 6.88 6.89 Big difference: Watt weighed 290 pounds at the combine and Bosa is only 268 pounds.
  10. Doctson was PFF's highest rated receiver before going down with an injury. He tore up the combine and demonstrated true explosiveness: 4.5 40-yard dash, 41" vertical jump, 131" broad jump, 4.08 short shuttle, all very impressive for a guy 6'2" 202 pounds. His arm length and hand size are elite as well. Not sure he makes it to the second round...
  11. Rubio is reeking desperation and has stooped to Trump's level. Not looking good for the party, but perhaps it's for the better. It's only going to get uglier. Rubio bluntly said the party will not nominate Trump. The convention could turn into a WWE event. Meanwhile Michael Bloomberg is considering a third party run. I read an interesting article on Bloomberg which detailed a far fetched scenario where none of the three candidates gets 270 electoral votes. If there was every a year for something like that to happen, it would be with this circus we've seen thus far.
  12. Fuller is a stud but his relatively small hand size (8-1/4") scares me that he may be restricted to a one dimensional receiver in the pros like Torrey Smith (i.e. body catching). Even so, that's not a terrible thing for the second round.
  13. I'm starting to like Doctson a lot. 6'2" 202 pounds with nearly 10" hands and nearly a 32" wingspan. Combine that with his elite body control and he can be a great possession receiver and threat in the redzone. That 40 time is fast enough for him given his type of game. If we get Ramsey or Bosa in the first Doctson would be a great pick in the second round, if available.
  14. I'm not saying it was a deliberate or malicient leak done to create leverage. The official probably honestly thought the deal was done. I read Fowler's camp asked for the opt out late in the process. Even AJ later texted Fowler saying his bad for jumping the gun. This is why the team does not announce anything until the player is in town and the press conference is set. All I am saying is it wouldn't surprise me if Angelos puts more strict measures on senior officials giving information to the media. Someone made an honest mistake on the Orioles side.
  15. Can we please get Nick Markakis back
  16. I don't think Angelos had anything to do with it. Appears a senior Orioles official prematurely leaked the agreement. I am sure Angelos is going to fire/discipline someone over this.
  17. I wonder if Trump takes on Rubio as a VP candidate as a compromise to the establishment. Maybe there is an under the table agreement that Trump would only serve one term? Speaking of VP candidates, who would Sanders take? I'm guessing Warren is the obvious choice. Oh boy Trump vs Hillary...
  18. Stanley is no JO. What if he's the next Oher? I thought Oher was going to lock up our left side for a long time. Stanley is NOT worth the sixth pick.
  19. Ouch! https://twitter.com/excelsm/status/702994353841684481
  20. Amending my own post: I believe the Cubs could still offer the qualifying offer after the buy out. That would represent a potential $20M+ investment for one year of Fowler (although the $5M could be seen as a sunk cost and/or tied into the 2016 salary). Also, there is no guarantee of a qualifying offer next year given CBA negotiations. But I agree weird situation. Jones said he talked to Fowler. Rizzo on the Cubs admitted he texted Fowler good luck in Baltimore yesterday.
  21. I don't think it has anything to do with the physical. Both camps are saying the deal was never agreed to and Fowler was insistent upon the opt out. We were not going there given the draft pick. Hard to blame Fowler. Yes he could have taken the $16M qualifying offer, but then he'd be subject to it again next offseason. With the Cubs he gets $8M for 2016 with a $5M buyout on a $9M mutual option for 2017. In other words, if he does bad this season the Cubs would likely exercise and pay $5M to get out of the contract. If Fowler has a big year, he exercises the option, gets $5M, and is now a free agent with no draft pick attached to him. In short, he took $3M less (plus time value of money for the end of season buyout) to test free agency next season with no draft pick attached. Of course, he is risking injury and/or a poor season.
  22. This one hurts, he was a perfect fit for our lineup.
  23. Low risk pickup, but I just don't see much if any reward either. It would be one thing if he had been out of shape and has rededicated himself, but the kid has terrible instincts. Who knows, maybe it was all mental and he's been seeing a sports psychologist. I'm really digging deep here to justify this move.
  24. PFF is obsessed with DeForest Buckner. We are stacked in our front line but it appears Buckner is a force in the pass rush and can be moved up and down the line. https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2016/02/23/draft-why-pff-is-obsessed-with-deforest-buckner/ Buckner or Bosa would be very solid picks.
