  1. Inhuman... Even the US Olympic team took notice of that!
  2. http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/David-Johnson?id=2552377&id=2552377 David Johnson killed it at the combine. Trestman loves backs who can catch the ball. Forte and Charlie Gardner in Oakland both had 100 catch years under Trestman, and Michael Pittman was a good pass catching back in Tampa. Johnson might have moved himself into the second round.
  3. Thanks for the analysis. When I first looked at Parker's 2014 stats I thought "that's not impressive". Then I saw they were for only six games! I watched Parker's highlights and he makes everyone look so easy and effortless. Great body control and timing, especially on the deep balls. He doesn't give away his position like Torrey does, he only lifts his head when the ball is ready to be caught, making it difficult for the defender. Parker's hands aren't as big as White, DGB or Strong, but drops or body catching didn't look to be a problem. I've seen pro comparisons to AJ Green, Alshon Jeffries and Hakeem Nicks for Parker. Hopefully a couple of the team's lower than us in the draft will sign WRs in FA and/or one of those teams reached on DGB. If Parker is there at around 20, I would love to see us move up for him.
  4. After the combine I see what you mean on White, the guy has the makings of a stud! I like Strong a lot for the reasons you mentioned. He seems like exactly what we need. Not only did he run a fast 40, his vertical was over 40 inches and he put up 17 on the bench press. SS time was good too (4.3). The guy seems like a ball player! As far as DGB, he ran a slower SS than 40 time (SS of 4.5, 40 of 4.49). Add in the fact he only put up 13 on the bench press at 237 pounds (long arms maybe?) and a vertical leap of only 33 inches (poor lower body strength?) and I have worries about his ability to get off the press, which is a common critique of his game. Now the SS is very much an art, so if a guy his size didn't practice the drill, I can understand the poor time. However that 40 yard dash number means nothing if he can't get off the press or burst in and out of his routes. Tim, what's your opinion on Parker from Louisville? How does he compare to Strong? It seems most people have Parker slotted after White/Cooper but before Strong/DGB. Where do you see him?
  5. All the top big receivers are running really well: White a 4.35, Cooper a 4.42, DGB a 4.49, Parker a 4.45 and Strong ran a faster than expected 4.44. The smaller guys ran well as expected, Dorsett a 4.33, Smith a 4.42. Perryman didn't run due to a pulled hamstring. Funchess ran a 4.7. Kelvin Benjamin ran a poor 40 time last year and still went in the first. With everyone running well it is difficult to say anyone jumped up or down in the rankings. A lot will depend on how teams have these guys ranked, making it hard to project. It will be a very competitive first round for these receivers.
  6. @RavensInsider: Georgia WR Chris Conley (6-2, 213) is crushing the combine today: 4.35 in the 40, 45-inch vertical leap, 11-7 broad jump, 18 bench reps A 45-inch standing vertical is unhuman. That's probably better than most receiver's one step jump.
  7. Another name to the WR list: Chris Conley from Georgia. http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/Chris-Conley?id=2552652&id=2552652 Good measurements. Scouting reports say he runs good routes.
  8. I'm happy to have Steve back. He blocks well and has a swagger and attitude that our offense needs. He works back to the ball which works well with a QB like Joe. I think Smith still has a lot of ability and proved he still has big plays left in him. The problem is Steve is not a true #1 and he needs help. If he draws the other team's best corner he is going to disappear for stretches in a game. We need more weapons to either take pressure off of Steve or be able to exploit a team's second or third corners. There is still lots left in the tank I believe. Steve's drops were really high this past year as well. Hopefully another year with Flacco helps a little.
  9. Davis looks to bunt more this season: http://www.masnsports.com/school-of-roch/2015/02/davis-shifting-his-strategy-at-the-plate.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
  10. We don't need Ngata but he looked good after coming off of suspension. If we can get him to restructure, Ngata would be extremely effective playing a reduced amount of snaps keeping him fresh. He breaks down easily but I think he still has great value as a part time player. We have the young depth upfront to go with this strategy.
  11. Looks like the appeal has been reopened. http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/bs-md-adnan-syed-appeal-granted-20150207-story.html
  12. Wow that is really interesting stuff. I'm surprised the podcast didn't talk about the evidence more. Or am I forgetting that they did? Pretty in depth post I haven't made my way completely through it, but I have always had my suspicions on the state's timeline. What a mess all around.
  13. https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/espn-first-draft/id304434112?mt=2 First podcast of the year for Kiper and McShay. Kiper mentioned Breshad Perriman as one of his favorite players no one is talking about. Perriman is a big, fast WR ftom UCF. Averaged over 20 YPC for the past two years.
  14. Canty and Jones seem prime candidates. We have leverage with Ngata, I'm positive he'll be restructured like Suggs. Contract extension for Koch seems like a good move. Webb recently had his deal restructured I believe. Doesn't seem like there is much money to save there, and we would he selling low on a potential bounce back candidate when we are already light at the position. Gino wouldn't be hard to replace. Urschel is more than capable of being our backup center. We can draft a guard late just as serviceable as Gino.
  15. Coleman would be my pick but I'm biased!
  16. http://podcasts.joerogan.net/podcasts/randall-carlson-2 Long podcast but this guy really knows his stuff explaining the history of the earth's climate.
  17. I'm so conflicted by Torrey. He's a very likable guy, a good representative of the team. My wife has a Torrey jersey, he and Tucker are really the only Ravens she knows/likes. However, the truth is what you state above. To add to what you said: while he has speed when have we ever seen a clean deep ball from Flacco to Torrey? It is always overthrown or Torrey has to come back for the ball. For whatever reason Torrey and Flacco are never the same page short or deep. There was an analysis I posted earlier in this topic that stated most of Flacco's INTs are when he throws to Torrey. Another thing on Torrey, and maybe my observation isn't justified, but I just don't see the right type of competitiveness. I don't see good run blocking. This season he looked lackadaisical too often. The body language was telling. He also lets opponents get under his skin too easily, we saw this in the Pats game with the two penalties. We see this in Torrey's Twitter feed. He cannot leave the troll tweets alone, he has to respond to everyone single one. I understand it must be tough to be in his position, but it comes with the territory and he needs to ignore it. In conclusion, I am more scared to lose Torrey than I want to re-sign him. I could see him going to New England and putting up big stats. I'm hoping a team like Oakland, Carolina, or Jacksonville pays him a lot of money to make losing him easier to swallow.
  18. Would you rather re-sign Torrey, who is likely to command big money, or sign Brandon Marshall for a more affordable 3-4 year deal? Either way we are going to have to draft a guy high.
  19. @AKinkhabwala: #Ravens coach John Harbaugh and #Bears WR Brandon Marshall yukking it up here at #SB49 http://t.co/cmIt0PCq65 I wonder what they are talking about...
  20. PFF still had him as a top ten ILB in the league. https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2015/01/12/2014-pff-defensive-rookie-of-the-year/ Seems like the AP got it right with Donald. PFF didn't even have Mosley rated as the highest rookie ILB (second).
  21. You guys are arguing over spilled milk, it doesn't matter at this point.
  22. Bingo. Trestman is a smart guy and his touch on the WCO will be adapted to our player strengths. At this point our offensive line is our best strength and our QB works best off of play action, Trestman will play to that. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/01/30/martellus-bennett-thinks-marc-trestman-will-be-better-offensive-coordinator-than-head-coach/ Sounds like Trestman is better suited to be an OC than a HC in the NFL.
  23. Wow Ray had 142 tackles in 14 games!
  24. http://russellstreetreport.com/2015/01/31/tale-of-the-tape/marshall-great-fit-ravens/ Another good analysis of the possibility of Brandon Marshall.
  25. http://m.bleacherreport.com/articles/2330982-can-the-ravens-afford-to-pay-free-agent-wr-torrey-smith A somewhat sobering analysis of Torrey Smith and whether we should re-sign him.
