  1. That 1997 team was a powerhouse. IMO they would have won the WS if their bullpen didn't breakdown against Cleveland. They should have steamrolled Cleveland.
  2. I love beating TB. I don't have anything personal against TB like I do Toronto, Boston or NY. I actually really like their organization. I feel every time we win a series against TB is a big "told you so" to all the baseball analysts out there that annually predict TB to win 90+ games and the division. SI predicted us to win 67 games. I bet they feel really stupid about now.
  3. Gausman looked like an ace today. I love his potential to get better as this season goes on. Tillman and Gausman are a better one-two punch than anything we've had in years. I like Drake's forkball.
  4. It's a better idea than anything else out there. Hogan helped himself out a lot saying he isn't voting for Trump. I think Republican governors like Hogan and Brian Sandoval (who also refused to endorse Trump) are likable because they take a pragmatic approach and stay out of social issues. IMO the national party and a large portion of its voting base is so out of touch with reality that candidates in the mold of Hogan or Sandoval would be pressured into conforming to the national party lines, which is very unfortunate. If it makes sense, Priebus and the party will likely do the opposite. Man, what a crazy day: Brexit voting, Supreme Court rulings on immigration and affirmative action, shooting/gas attack in Germany, the Congressional Sit In, Baltimore officer court verdict...
  5. We always talk about how this team doesn't get on base, well we had the bases loaded twice with no outs or one out. Eventually you have to get a hit if a pitcher is pitching to contact, or you end up like the Tampa Bay Rays lineup Jones made a very poor decision on overthrowing a cutoff man on a sac fly, which allowed all runners to advance eventually leading to that fourth run. It happens, he'll get it back soon.
  6. I've been hard on Hardy in the past but damn it's great to have him back. He really is the heart of our defense and somehow everyone plays better when he's out there. He is a joy to watch, his fundamentals are textbook perfect. Welcome back JJ!
  7. You always wanted the Ravens to go young well here you go.
  8. Great news. An ACL reconstruction would have been devastating for Perriman, even more so then compared to other players. Perriman is a speed receiver. If his ACL needed to be reconstructed, even if he came back in 2017, he would have lost speed. We would have never seen that 4.2 speed and Perriman would have to recreate his playing style, which would have been bad for a guy as raw as he is. Luckily this is not the case. A partial tear that doesn't need surgery is nothing more than a sprain, which is why the team is saying he'll be back by training camp. I'm surprised his meniscus was untouched, usually that will tear before the ACL. Must have been a freak injury and fall he took. The scope he had will help with recovery. In addition to the stem cell injection, any possible scar tissue is cleaned up, which most people probably have to some degree. Hopefully his ACL heels faster than his PCL. Just don't rush him, let him sit out the preseason if necessary.
  9. Spectacular outing by Tillman, true ace stuff last night. Britton really stepped up with the nearly two inning save. Outside of the base hit given up he was lights out. Did anyone see that bomb Schoop hit off Price? I read on Twitter that the ball exited his bat at 115 MPH and traveled 450 feet. Only a handful of guys in the league have that sort of power.
  10. http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/bal-ravens-receiver-breshad-perriman-suffered-another-knee-injury-20160611-story.html According to the Sun, Perriman continued practicing. The Sun is saying possible torn meniscus. Hopefully it's a just a torn meniscus and an ACL sprain that can heal on its own after the scope.
  11. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/16130619/breshad-perriman-baltimore-ravens-partially-torn-acl Hopefully he only needs a scope and can return in a couple of months, similar to Jalen Ramsey's injury. I want to say it's encouraging they don't know yet from the initial MRI, and that the swelling didn't become an issue until the next day. However, a partially torn ACL is just as bad as a fully torn ACL if it requires a graft to be repaired.
  12. Bad loss today. McFarland pissed the bed.
  13. I misspoke, June not July. This article says they were 42-28. I have not double checked that. Either way, fourteen games over was playing insanely above that team's ahead. That was the same year we gave up 30 runs to Texas. Our lineup was terrible. http://m.bleacherreport.com/articles/121156-letdown-the-story-of-the-2005-baltimore-orioles#
  14. We keep rolling! Starting to feel like 2014 with these close game wins. I recently read an article about the 2005 O's who were 14 games above .500 in July, so it's hard to get my hopes up. However, this team has Buck and a bunch of talent. Tillman and Gausman at the top of the rotation are better than anything we've had in years.
  15. Completely disagree with you. Ventura had a personal vendetta against Manny. According to Buck, Ventura shook off an off speed pitch from his catcher and drilled Manny with a 99 MPH fastball, his fastest pitch of the night. He had nearly hit Manny last at bat. Buck told Manny to watch out before the at bat, he knew it was coming. Both Buck and AJ have come out in support of Manny's actions, and it fired up the team. This could be a rallying point in our season. Ventura has a bad reputation even among his team. Look at the reaction from his teammates, they were not happy. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/the-reason-why-the-royals-have-considered-trading-yordano-ventura-071920349-mlb.html
  16. Comeback win! Wieters! Imagine how Yankees fans felt: 10 hits, 10 men LOB, 1-11 with RISP. Gausman and MacFarland got out of some tough spots. Btw, I can't wait for Hardy to get back. Team defense has suffered without him.
  17. Uh oh... Bundy and the dreaded cutter. http://m.masn.mobi/school-of-roch/2016/06/showalter-speaks-after-8-6-loss-1.html Ridiculous, there is no science to support their theory of pitch limits. If his elbow isn't strong enough to throw a cutter, he shouldn't be pitching at all. All we're doing at this point is messing up the kid's psyche. Put him on the IR and let him do a medically controlled rehab so he can get to the point where he can throw a cutter. The active roster isn't the place to rehab.
  18. Comeback in the making on national tv!
  19. Bernie is really closing the gap in California. If he wins the state he has a chance to create some major waves at the convention. Not even Obama beat Hillary in California. I hope California's quirky rules for independents voting in the primary isn't the difference in a close election.
  20. I was at the game last night sitting in the visitors section right near the Yankees dugout. Lots of Yankees fans last night. Not nearly as many as the pre-Buck days, but I walked up to the stadium when A-Rod hit his HR and the cheers were very loud. I thought an Oriole had hit a HR. Great game, happy to have won it. Schoop and Machado put on a fielding clinic last night and their arm strength was on full display. Kim is something else: great plate approach, he fits the two spot like a glove. I'm impressed with how AJ has adapted to hitting lead off. Tough matchup tonight against Nova, who always seems to get lots of K's versus us. Hopefully we can keep the win streak going!
  21. One step at a time. Perriman isn't likely to start at split-ends (Akin will). So hopefully we can put Perriman in situations suited best for his talents where he is most likely to succeed. For example, play action situations and getting the ball in his hands on screen passes and quick slants when the defense is playing off.
