I agree that Goodell has looked terrible but he's not going anywhere. Goodell works for the owners and he's made them billions. Most importantly, Goodell is buddy buddy with the most influencial owners. Furthermore, while I absolutely believe everything in KVV's report, unless he's willing to give up his sources (career suicide), there's no hard factual evidence that could convict the Ravens and Goodell of what they're accused of. I don't think anything is going to happen to Goodell or the Ravens. As KVV pointed out, the independent investigation is headed by his buddies. If anything, Goodell and Bisciotti will get slap on the wrist fines. Just like the Patriots for Spygate and the Saints for Bountygate. The only way I see something happening is if Congress interacts (is this really what we want our taxdollars going to?), or exetreme pressure is applied by the sponsors (unlikely, there are plenty of sponsors that are lining up to take their place).

What to look for this Sunday vs. Browns
thundercleetz replied to Tornado700's topic in Baltimore Ravens
I see this game going two ways: we'll either blow them out as the offense builds on last week's success. Or the game will be extremely frustrating like week one and we lose a close one. -
I want to agree with you max, but the video showed Rice spit on his wife. I don't believe an event like what occurred isnt a one time occurance due to alcohol. That's not my place to judge. However, what the article does state is an action like Rice's lands the average man in jail, less than 1% of NJ suspects in that situation get the treatment Rice got. There is so much blame to go all around, Rice, Goodell, Cass, Ozzie, and Bisciotti. If anything Goodell and Bisciotti did Rice a disservice suspending him two games. If they had suspended him eight games, this probably isn't as big a deal and he's still on the team. Rice has every right to be mad at this point, and I'd certainly be filing a lawsuit if I were him.

Wow Harbaugh pushed twice to release Rice and Ozzie basically told him off. This story really paints Bisciotti as an enormous douche. I don't know if the team's reputation will ever recover as long as Bisciotti is owner.

I love the move to bring up Christian Walker to play in these last eleven (now ten) games. This was not an easy move as we had to put him on the 40 man roster, and we know how much Duquette values each spot on the 40 man for roster flexibility. However, with Davis's suspension, Walker has the opportunity to get valuable experience while allowing Buck to rest some of our key guys. Walker has put up solid minor league stats. While his tools don't jump off the chart, he has a great baseball IQ and is going to benefit tremendously playing everyday at first base these last two weeks, while being in the clubhouse with a division championship team. Not to mention he will get to learn from fellow South Carolina-alum Steve Pearce. Pearce is another guy who was overlooked for not having all the tools, but ended up becoming our best player this season (according to WAR). I am excited to see Walker play.

Wow that's an incredible pull! I remember Bullets and Caps games on HTS! Always wondered what happened to HTS. -
When WCW was around Baltimore would host the Great American Bash nearly every year. Most wrestlers will tell you that Baltimore is one of the best wrestling towns, up there with Philly, NYC, Chicago, Atlanta and Nola. Although they openly admit the Baltimore Arena is crap, it has a nostalgic feeling of the old venues from the territorial days (sticking with nostalgia; someone stated on the Fan that the Baltimore Arena is one of the last remaining venues that the Beatles played in). Even today I've been to WWE Raw in DC and Baltimore. The DC show is boring and tame, whereas the Baltimore show is very rowdy. An indy promotion, Ring of Honor, is actually owned by Sinclair Broadcasting based in Hunt Valley. Those shows are very rowdy on TV! Ring of Honor is coming to the Royal Farms Arena soon, I want to check it out. http://www.bizjournals.com/baltimore/news/2014/09/15/royal-farms-naming-rights-at-baltimore-arena.html Interesting tidbit here is that Royal Farms negotiated a first rights of negotiation for any new or refurbished arena in Baltimore.

I have a good buddy from Cleveland who is an enormous Browns fan. He and his friends were not high at all on West in training camp and the preseason. They were really high on Isaiah Crowell and thought Crowell would beat out West for the #2 job behind Tate. West must be a pleasant surprise for Browns fans.

Os offense : in the wake of the CD suspension.

100 wins would be EPIC -
IMO the Steelers made an extremely stupid move letting go of Arians. Ben and Arians had a rare chemistry and Ben was a top 3-5 QB in the league with Arians. Arians got blamed for a poor run game due to Colbert's inability to rebuild the offensive line. Ben has been good, but the magic hasn't been there since Arians has left. I was very happy the day the Steelers "fired" Arians. He had our number every game, especially in the fourth quarter when the Steelers needed a big play.

I wonder what the corresponding roster move will be.

That arena is so disguisting. Yes it needs to be torn down. Having a terrible arena definitely costs us good concerts each year. I would like some better shows to come through. With that said, an old dirty arena makes a perfect venue for a wrestling show I always have a blast when I go see Raw there.

Very good read! If Zuttah gets an F I can't imagine what Gradkowski would get if we ever have to play him at center!

A stumbling block may have shown up

I don't see this as a big loss. Davis was a good defensive player who provided the occasional long ball, but it won't be hard to replace .200/.300/.400 in the lineup. -
Incredible sweep yesterday! The walk off double was thrilling. Both Bud and Gausman pitched excellent games yesterday striking out a lot of batters.

I'll co-sign this as well.

Glad to hear your dog is doing well and it sounds like he's loved a lot! Yeah, pet insurance is still not mainstream, I don't believe many people know about it as an option. I know the company we use, Healthy Paws, is still relatively new. It's very expensive to insure an older dog, unless he/she was recently adopted as a rescue, however it is very cost efficient to insure a puppy or a healthy young dog. Once you enroll, the good companies do not raise your premiums based on the pet getting older or the amount of claims made, only for inflation. Pets should be treated as a member of a family, so hopefully pet insurance can become more commonplace so more families can afford to provide for their pets. My employer is partnered with a pet insurance company and offers a corporate discount.
-
Rob I am so sorry to hear that. Makes me feel terrible as I have a soft spot for animals too. Vet bills are certainly high. We have pet insurance for our dog, which helps a lot. Gives me great piece of mind in case my dog needs a major surgery. I pay $30 a month, but there are different providers that offer cheaper alternatives for different levels of coverage. If you are making a large investment in getting a new living member of your family, I feel something like pet insurance should be part of the cost in your decision making.

Thanks for sharing, those people provide an incredible humanitarian service!

Sorry I haven't been following the topic, so I don't get it. All I know is our pass rush was terrible on Sunday, I don't think Sam could do any worse. His upside as a rusher might he worth the risk even if he can't play special teams and only plays on third downs.

Anyone thinks the NFLPA takes any action on Ray's behalf?
-
Hypothetical situation, if someone releases a tape today of Michael Vick killing a dog from years ago, could the NFL re-suspend him? Same concept right? They had all the facts, knew exactly what happened and suspended him. If the NFL had originally suspended Rice for 6-10 games I don't think it is in nearly as much heat as it is now.
