  1. That was a lot of fun watching Cruz try and leg out that triple. It was also amusing when the announcers stated all the O's that have hit for the cycle. Hall of Fame players then Felix Pie...
  2. Their last two first round picks, DC. One is a shortstop in AA who is a consensus top ten prospect in baseball who is projected as an All Star talent. The other is a top 100 prospect, outfielder, I believe, who has a pretty good projection but only in Single A. Tough to take the loss in the first game. Gonzalez pitched possibly his gutsiest outing of his career. He went eight strong despite being in some tough situations, only 1 ER. I loved the confidence Buck showed in Gonzo sticking with him in the eighth inning. Would have been great to get him the win.
  3. I'm excited to see what this kid can do in camp. No doubt we need tough receivers in our division, and especially in Kubiak's run first, play-action offense. Seems like Butler is motivated and takes well to coaching. Let's see how well he can fight a press and get in-and-out of his cuts in camp. That will be what could make him standout.
  4. Wow the A's traded for Samardzija and Hammel. Very un-Beane like. Looks like they are going all-in this year. Samardzija rejected $85 million from the Cubs. He's going to want over $100 million and the A's have never ponied up that much cash. Steep price for a rental but if the A's win the World Series it will be worth it.
  5. Tenth of a percent! lol I'll take it!
  6. Game today got cancelled due to rain! Very fortunate for us due to the short rest.
  7. #1 in the division! (By .001)
  8. We'll see on Jones. Grubbs is probably the best player we lost, but we had to pay either him or Yanda.
  9. Ozzie ponies up for franchise players and let's the Arthur Jones, Paul Kruger, Ellerbe's go. Tucker is a franchise player.
  10. Another series win! Cruz comes through big time!
  11. I just noticed McDonald on the WBAL broadcast as well. I like him a lot in low doses. I went to college in Louisiana so it's cool hearing that Louisiana accent!
  12. Friday's loss was a heartbreaker, but I am impressed with this team's ability to bounce-back and win the next two games to take the series. Starting pitching was good in each of the three games. Lets keep the strong play going!
  13. Question: do you try and offer Wieters a fair contract extension now? I doubt Boras would even consider, but hypothetically if you could sign him now would you?
  14. Interesting notes on Marlon Brown. I don't put too much stock into OTAs, so maybe Marlon is trying to learn the playbook and taking his lumps now. Marlon is a bigger receiver, so Kubiak's West Coast concepts are a lot different than the Air Cottrell concepts we have had in our offense since Harbaugh has been here. Either way, I'm loving the competition we are having at multiple positions. I have heard good things about Jeremy Butler. He is a true possession receiver that is physical and is a big target. Cannot wait for training camp!
  15. I was really worried that first inning two. We have not had a true strikeout pitcher since Bedard's career year. When you can miss bats you have the ability to get yourself out of bad jams like Gausman did today. When Gausman has his best stuff he's fun to watch. Don't want to jinx him but he could be special.
  16. Unless they recently changed it for next year I don't think so. I know Boras wants it changed.
  17. We have up until next year's trading deadline. No need to trade Cruz. Offer him a qualifying deal. He either comes back for one more season and we can trade him next trade deadline or we get a draft pick next year.
  18. I saw give it one more run next year and if it doesn't work out blow the team up (only keeping young guys like Machado, Schoop, Gausman, Tillman, Britton and Bundy) and take the draft picks from Wieters and Davis.
  19. I tend to agree with you but I'm willing to give Joe one year under a real offensive QB like Kubiak. Ben in his prime and healthy, only a few guys in the league are better. My concern with Ben is the amount of hits he takes due to his style of play is absolutely going to affect his longevity.
  20. I love it when people ask a question then try to argue against a correct answer. All you had to do was ask: "has Joe ever thrown above 63.2%?" Or "has Joe ever thrown above 60% while throwing at least 500 attempts?" Your fault for asking a poor question initially.
  21. Suggs was having an MVP caliber first half of 2013. The second half was absolutely miserable. If he can settle somewhere a little below his first half last year he will be productive for us.
  22. 2008-2010
  23. Bring it on!
  24. O's are maintaining July 1 is the decision deadline because that's the date he could get the surgery and still be ready for opening day 2015.
  25. You see Davis bunt against the shift last night and beat the throw out (O's won a challenge)? Real good bunt!
