  1. The technology wasn't there at the time is my point. The Texans had the first retractable roof stadium in the NFL and that opened in 2002. The only other alternative would have been to build an ugly dome and a retractable roof that takes an hour to retract and malfunctions all the time like the Toronto Blue Jays dome. And papa is right the lottery raised the funds last time, next time it's anyone's guess. A state funding initiative, regardless. M&T's maintenance has been relatively small compared to other stadiums on the east coast. And the work that has been done has been on Bisciotti's tab. The Eagles have already pumped over $100M into their stadium and that opened after M&T. Either way M&T will be in line for a major renovation in 2023. Ravens are a first class organization and I'm sure Bisciotti will want to continue along in a first class facility in line with the rest of the league.
  2. Crav we'd have both the Colts and the O's playing in an ugly "Baltodome" that we'd be struggling to replace today (the some was the top option and was the style at the time). No Camden Yards. Indianapolis has already replaced their ugly dome that they used to lure the Colts. Nearly all of the domes from the 70s/80s have been replaced or are miserably outdated. In that case, especially with how stretched out MD's budget is today, one of the Colts or Orioles would have probably left anyways. Yes the Colts stadium is gorgeous. My wife is from Indy and her dad goes to every game (he is more of a Bears fan than Colts though, there are still lots of Bears fans there from pre-1983). And it is great for the city of Indy that they can use the stadium for other college football and basketball events. However, that stadium costs $789M in 2014 money. M&T is less than half that coming in at $318M ($220M in 1996). Additionally the technology for retractable roofs today is leaps and bounds above where it was in 1996. With MD building two stadiums in that year, spending over $500M on a stadium with now outdated technology that we'd have to replace would not have been smart. Creating a practical basic structure that you can build up later was the way to go. The Ravens lease comes up in 2023. You can bet your bottom dollar there are going to be some stuff negotiations to renovate M&T into a first class facility again. I wouldn't be surprised to see a roof mentioned, especially if technology in architecture continues to advance at the current rate. Not to mention if the Skins move to DC/VA, MD will have to pony up to the Ravens. See the proposed roof plans for Miami and St. Louis. It is possible. I love the Ravens colors. I also love the classicness of the Colts uniforms. Two completely different styles. The Colts are timeless the Ravens are badass. You put on a Ravens uniforms and you are instantly a badass. I like to think we've become the east coast version of the Raiders in the 70s/80s. In my perfect world the Ravens have their current colors but have the Colts history in Baltimore as part of the franchise.
  3. RBs are a dime a dozen. No need to give up the potential compensation pick by signing Blount. You can draft a one trick pony RB later in the draft.

And to think our politicians wanted to support these terrible people.
  5. Oldno82, the fact we didn't get the expansion team in '95 was an enormous blessing. Peter Angelos would have been the owner. Luckily Angelos and Jack Kent Cooke got into an enormous pissing contest and I'm positive JKC was the reason Baltimore didn't get a team. Absolute blessing. One other thing to consider: if the Colts don't leave there is not a Camden Yards. In the end everything worked out well for everyone. I think what hurts the most is the history and colors moving to Indy. If the team moved but the history stayed here and could have been picked up by the Browns when they moved to Baltimore, I don't think there would be nearly the amount of hard feeling there are today. Especially after two Super Bowls.
  6. Interesting read from the Indy perspective: http://www.indystar.com/story/sports/nfl/colts/2014/03/28/colts-move-hells-angels-hoosier-dome-color-scheme-empty-semis/7004881/ Here's a good read written by LA comedian, Ravens fan and Baltimore native Ryan Sickler: http://www.esquire.com/_mobile/blogs/news/when-a-sports-team-moves?src=spr_TWITTER&spr_id=1456_50619351
  7. Steve proves erudition again. See I can do that too.
  8. Justin Berk doesn't think it will hit us that bad. He has been pretty spot on this season.
  9. Smith would make up for losing Boldin last year. Same competitive, fiery spirit. Brings intimidation and swagger to our offense.
  10. Steve Smith would be a typical Ozzie move. Low cost player who will over produce his contract and won't cost us a compensation pick for the free agents we've lost this year.
  11. I agree with you but if you give most GMs Denver's roster and say you have three or four seasons I'm sure most would take it. It's hard to pass up.
  12. Absolutely, there is no doubt that Elway is going all or none. At the same time the last two years the Broncos have had the best chance at winning the Super Bowl from the on set and they will for the next two years with Manning. Having the best team in the league for four years, if Elway wins one Super Bowl he's considered a genius. He's going directly for a Super Bowl not a dynasty. After that he's going to have to blow it up. Unless Osterweiler becomes something.
  13. Ozzie signed Graham when no one else wanted him, Ozzie will sign some one else. Before Graham it was Cary. Believe me I loved how hard Graham played, and he did an excellent job for us, but he is not a devastating loss.
  14. I don't blame Denver at all for going all-in. They have arguably the great QB in NFL history, who is coming off his best year statistically, for one year two if lucky. They are done when Manning retires regardless. The Pats on the other hand make a typical Pats move. Buy low on a guy who has a good probability of a very high upside. Not much risk taken on with a one-year deal. They paid Revis less than what it would have cost to franchise Talib. Ozzie will make his move. We are definitely getting a WR. And we are sure to be in on other team's cuts. More will come I'm sure.
  15. Any good ball hawking safeties in the draft?
  16. We are still in contention for Ervin Santana. If we sign Santana, do you put Bud Norris as closer? Signing Santana would be an enormous get for us. Our rotation would quickly become a major strength. Britton is throwing 95, yeah we are ready to go.
  17. I dunno if so it didn't stop the Browns from trying.
  18. Additionally I agree Max, that would be quite a story if the Ravens selected West. The guy put up very solid numbers at the combine to back up amazing on-field production. With Rice's contract and off-field problems, I have no doubt the Ravens are taking a running back early in the draft.
  19. I take this as Kubiak conducted a full review of our run game from last year and told Harbaugh "this thing is a mess."
  20. At this point I'd say probably not much. His intense, over-theoretical personality has probably pissed off a player or two. Jim Harbaugh is a jerk, no doubt about it. Once he has one or two losing seasons and he'll be on the hot seat. As long as he keeps winning it won't be a problem, so we'll see.
  21. http://mweb.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-football/24464524/report-jim-harbaughs-act-has-worn-thin-in-49ers-locker-room This is exactly what I have been saying in this topic. Obviously take this article with a grain of salt, but the point remains: coaches with a personality like Jim Harbaugh's don't stay at the same position long-term. That type of personality rubs players, front office executives, and owners the wrong way when the team has a bad season or two. The difference between Harbaugh and a guy like Belicheck or Parcells is Harbaugh does not manage the front office in addition to coaching duties. I wonder if in a few years the Niners regret not taking the trade with the Browns?
  22. Great minds think alike! I might be shooting for the stars here but if we sign Edelman and draft Ebron our offense would have many different weapons with different skill sets. Torrey the deep threat, Edelman the quick, slot receiver, Marlon the big redzone threat and developing possession guy. At TE Pitta can mop up underneath while Ebron burns defenses down the seam.
  23. Unrealistic but Julian Edelman would be awesome! However, the WR class is deep in both the draft and FA, so maybe the value is pushed down and we make a run at a big name.
  24. Let me know what you think. Might be a good buy down the line after a price drop.
  25. Blah I was really excited about Thief but it got terrible reviews. Metal Gear Solid and TitanFall are the next two games. I hope they don't disappoint.
