  1. Haha. Regardless, the Arrieta trade won't get closure for O's fans until he either signs a $200M contract or blows out his arm. Hopefully the former.
  2. But we got Mark Trumbo for Steve Cleavenger, who we got in the Arrieta trade!
  3. Ravens are moving Mosley to the Mike. He's not a perfect fit for the position, but we are big enough up front to make it work. Perfect spot open for Miles Jack at the Will...
  4. What a haul for the Browns! Makes me wish we lost a couple of more games to get that sort of trade. Speaking of the Browns, ESPN ran an article on how the Browns passed on Ohio-native Ben Roethlisberger. Absolute disaster on the Browns part.
  5. It was St. Louis's fault for making a bad stadium deal back in the 90s. St. Louis threw in a clause that said the Rams had to have a top half stadium. They lost at arbitration and refused to pay what the arbitrator said would cost to stay compliant with the contract. As TS said, they never should have gotten a team in the first place. Bottom line: St. Louis will be very appreciative down the road that they didn't spend $400M+ on a stadium to keep the Rams. If Kronke wants to spend $1B of his own money in LA let him. Better than him being forced to spend his own money and accept public subsidies in STL. And if you think the stadium deal was bad for STL, the deal they made with the practice facility was miserable. Terrible management all around for the city.
  6. Hopefully this is a learning experience for Buck that Gallardo doesn't have the stamina to go past 100 pitches. I saw a stat this morning that said Gallardo hasn't recorded an out past the sixth inning in his last twenty starts. I understand letting Gallardo pitch the nine hitter. As soon as that walk was issued he should have been out of there given the top of the lineup came up. Also, do we not have a better long relief guy in the minors than MacFarland? Two blown saves already and the guy didn't have a good 2015 either. TJ made an absolutely lazy play on the ground ball to Crush.
  7. Absolutely terrible loss. Tomorrow is likely to be rained out. No need to bring back out Gallardo when you have a full bullpen. We didn't even need to use MacFarland either. Hard to blame starting pitching for this loss. Gallardo got his six innings. This loss fall on the manager.
  8. If we lose today lots of questions are going to be asked why Gallardo was brought back in to pitch the seventh. Definitely a questionable decision given his pitch count.
  9. If I had to guess the team didn't want another Bud Norris situation this year.
  10. I'll eat my words after tonight. What power from our lineup!
  11. I don't like Jones in the three hole. Manny and Davis are our best hitters and need to get as many ABs as possible. They are ideal two and three hitters to get them up in the first inning with Rickards setting the table. IMO Jones should hit fifth after Trumbo.
  12. Look at the last ten years and which model has prominently prevailed? Sure, the Broncos won, but similarly built teams such as the Bengals, Cardinals, Chiefs and Vikings have been held back by poor postseason QB play. And the teams I listed are really the best case scenarios from a talent perspective. How many teams have tried to build a solid defense given they can't get a QB? The Texans wasted nearly a decade drafting in the teens, getting beat up by Manning, all while making heavy investments to develop a pass rush and secondary to stop the Colts. It's not easy to build an elite defense either. As TS mentioned, salaries increase and it's difficult to retain talent. The Rams got a boatload of picks four years ago and have nothing to show for it in terms of wins. They have already started to lose talented players. If you have a chance to take a risk on an elite QB prospect, get the QB. If you hit on the QB, your window to contend is ten years. If you miss on the QB, try again in three years. Drafting fifteenth is just as much of a failure as drafting first overall.
  13. The difference in this league between mediocrity and winning Super Bowls is an elite QB. If the guy they pick becomes an elite QB, the Rams will be contenders. Even if they didn't make this move, they'd be drafting in the 15-22 range for the next five years anyways. I like the risk. On the flip side, the Titans have a chance to be extremely good. They have a young QB with limitless potential, a solid offensive line, and a load of draft picks the next two years. They now have arguably the brightest seven year window of any team in the NFL.
  14. Unfortunate for Tillman. He pitched well until that sixth inning. A couple of well placed bloopers and softly hit balls were his demise. I don't see Tillman as a concern.
  15. Adding to my previous post: I wonder if in 20 years former pitchers will sue the MLB saying they didn't know the damage they were doing to their arms. Specifically how pitch counts were a misleading statistic of health, or the long-term effects of Tommy John surgery.
  16. If the QB turns out to be a stud it's a good move. Risky but a risk you have to take if you want an elite QB.
  17. Rams trade for the #1 presumably to take a QB. Assuming the Rams and Browns take a QB, Ole Miss LT Laremy Tunsil could drop to the Ravens if the Chargers pass on him. We couldn't pass on him.
  18. Rams trade for the #1 presumably to take a QB. Assuming the Rams and Browns take a QB, Laremy Tunsil could drop to the Ravens if the Chargers pass on him. We couldn't pass on him.
  19. Bundy is on an innings limit? Isn't he a few years out from his surgery? On a side note, I never got the whole innings limit thing. As far as I know, there's no medical science to support it. You are either cleared to pitch, or you are still hurt and need recovery time. Human arms aren't meant to whip and throw a projectile 95 MPH+. Some pitchers have an easier motion than others. So if by innings limits, teams mean pushing back the inevitable injury from routine wear and tear (relative to that pitcher's abilities and throwing motion), I wish they would just call it what it is.
  20. The power in our lineup is insane.
  21. Starting pitching, you mean. We've got studs in the bullpen! Hopefully we get Gausman back soon. Also, at the rate things are going, I bet Bundy gets a chance to start sooner rather than later.
  22. Thanks for sharing. I was unaware of Clean Election initiatives. Lots of information to digest. Not sure if I've formulated an opinion yet, but it seems to be a step in the right direction. Still reading
  23. Agreed. I love Jason Spriggs from my alma matter. Well built, very athletic left tackle. If he fell to us in the second (or we traded up a little), I'd be thrilled. Save a couple of plays, Spriggs held up well against Bosa.
  24. I agree that shoring up the offensive line is a priority, but that doesn't mean reaching for a guy. Is Stanley worth the sixth pick? Or would we find better value at OT in the top of the second round?
  25. Crush absolutely murdered that HR.
