  1. They lost their swagger. There is something missing for sure. The talent level is unreal, and some failure is immaturity and inexperience, but some of it is definitely attitude.
  2. I disagree with both statements. Helmet may well have saved his life. But not every mistake needs to be fatal; the raw luck that comes into who gets away with simple mistakes and who pays greatly for them has always baffled, unsettled me. His death can be both a tragedy and a lesson to those lucky enough to have gotten away with the same error.
  3. Hard to do, but always gotta keep that little emergency reserve aside for true emergencies. We've learned that lesson a few times now and it's still hard to say, "no, that's not what this dollar is for!" BTW crav, how old were you when you retired? Jealous. Though, I'd have decades to go no matter what you answer...
  4. In response to Cleetz remarking on the innocuous scene.
  5. Not to judge, but report: hearing no headlight, dark clothing, not sure who had right of way
  6. He passed according to the Sun. RIP
  7. Kim has been not great at the plate. Getting towards awful. Jayson Stark said he's been unable to keep up with even average fastballs. And yesterday the O's struck out ten times in 14 batters. Against a very average pirates pitcher.
  8. She wins the electoral map pretty easily.
  9. I think an anti Trump or anti Cruz vote would emerge in her favor. I'm in that camp. I know some moderate GOPers who are too.
  10. Bigger problem: Trump is losing the rights base and will lose many independents. In VA, a swing state that relies on the urban vote, he list the urban vote hugely to Rubio and Kasich. So he's got little chance there. VA, OH, PA, CO... Can't see one go for Trump. Or Cruz.
  11. I prefer Flacco to Wallace for the score! Flacco to Wallace for the score! Flacco to Wallace for the score! Flacco to Wallace for the score! Flacco to Wallace for the score! Flacco to Wallace for the score! Flacco to Wallace for the score! Flacco to Wallace for the score! Flacco to Wallace for the score! Flacco to Wallace for the score! Flacco to Wallace for the score! Flacco to Wallace for the score! Flacco to Wallace for the score! Hope we're saying that more than ten times... and fast...
  12. I'm not saying perfect comparison. But group think needs to be combatted some way somehow Also - less about "fixing" the people at the rally and more about messages to people not there. Certainly I want people there to see it as well but definitely want others to see that there is pushback and another view and people are not all on board. My point was more towards, "Whats the point?" and "They are just disruptive..." ... disruptive matters. Trump is intentionally running a disruptive campaign, "disrupting the establishment"
  13. I hear you on one side. Just like I hear/understand people who say, "we shouldn't stop his speech, it's his right and we should be allowed to hear his message in peace" (Ignoring the illogical legal argument in that) But then I think, "what was the point of walking into a whites only restaurant and sitting down knowing the outcome?" It's far from a perfect comparison, but our bodies can be our messages. Sometimes they have to be to say "no this isn't right and I don't give a damn that your lunch is disrupted"
  14. I'm normally better at just saying then in my head at the screen haha.
  15. Nailed it. At least that long. Things I want to slowly explain to every Trump supporter but have to just scream inside my head most of the time. Doesn't help I'm about to be teaching rise of fascism in my history courses.
  16. By the way, today, actual Trump quote: The guy who ran up there yesterday, Trump said he was ISIS-linked. He wasn't. When confronted on Meet the Press: "Well, I only know what was on the internet." For fuck's sake. So you spread misinformation for 24 hours to get your votes, ruin a guy's life, further bigotry, etc etc... and then best you can say is "well, that's all I know." Of course, his supporters will never actually get the right info on that guy or the protest. Not that it matters.
  17. I just cannot understand Trump nor the people who support him. He is the ultimate run around guy and yet people won't see it. There is a quote in the NYTimes or something I read today where a woman said, 100% quote, that despite all his problems "Unless he kills my children or grandchildren in the streets, nothing's going to change my mind at this point." WTF? But you can't pin him down because people just don't want to see it. You say, "You support violence at your rallies." He says, "No, no I don't." You say, "Just yesterday you told people you'd like to see a guy roughed up..." He says, "Well, that one guy was swinging and he was a terrorist." You say, "That's not true. He was walking out with his hands up." He says, "He was giving the middle finger, it's obscene" You say, "You curse all the time about things ... on stage..." He says, "But they are coming to see me, it's different." You say, "It doesn't seem very presidential." He says, "well now you're just picking on me, you're a dirty rotten reporter." You say, "I'm just reporting the facts and your own words to you." He says, "How can I be expected to be perfect. I just know what people tell me on the internet." You say, "That doesn't seem like a great strategy or defense. How can we trust that" He says, "I'm a counterpuncher. I go with my gut. It works." You say, "It can't always work, haven't you made any mistakes? I just listed a few, even..." He says, "I'm in the habit of looking foward..." It's constant runaround, but every soundbit sounds, individually, like a nice little cupcake to end it all and shut it down. He is literally the opposite of what people say they want, even his supporters, he believes the opposite of what they believe, he never publicly admits he's been wrong. Seriously, never. He has never publicly said he's wrong. He just lies on top of his lies. And anyone can see it in a matter of moments. NYTimes ran a great bit on how a professional salesman analyzed Trump and said he's actually using basic salesmanship - short sentence, short words, confusion, distraction, small bits of information, orders instead of requests, redirection. I guess we know how the fucking shakeweight sold $1m worth ... this is our nation. I guess we fucking deserve it.
  18. The rotation this spring is showing literally ZERO sign of achieving ANY of the "ifs" that would be needed to make us respectable. The bats are not much better, though they worry me less. But seriously, it's going to be dingers or done all year long. Just sad.
  19. Of course it does as other contracts expire. By 2019 our projected cap totals is only 56m, but that probably only covers three players...
  20. Beyond next year, Jimmy's dead money is manageable as his bonus has been shear further and further.
  21. Mexican dictator? You mean that guy who was democratically elected and then took to his retirement without question. That "dictator?" You really want to believe Trump - who has said nothing, spewed hate and insults and is only consistent in two things: anti-immigrant and anti-trade policy? Of course, he loves both immigrants and trade for his own companies, so we are sure he means to do away with it. Crav, open your eyes. Trump is not a candidate. He is a demagogue. His proposals don't exist. His policies don't exist. He is running on the sentence, "I am a winner," which is a false statement in itself. If he hadn't been given a $1m loan and inherited companies worth $200m, he'd have nothing. He's a name. And just saying, "we're going to be great," is a load of crap. All that said - you're right that if he wins Ohio and Florida, he will win the nomination. And then he'll lose one of the worst election defeats in US history in the general when a 3rd party GOPer runs against him and most of the GOP voting base abandons him.
  22. Never count on agreed to production cuts, basic game theory says no one will follow through. Plus, the Iranians are back and the Saudis are trying to another shake production and China is still under producing and under consuming... 2.50 could happen, but I'd bet right in $2 at most through this year and next winter.
  23. Sanders leading Michigan... that could be huge. Yuge.
  24. Haven't seen that jump... 1.59 to 1.69 here. But prices of oil barrels did some last week, about 30% (though, it was so low at $29 that 30% only took it to $36 or so). US shale finally started to taper, they can't handle lower prices like regular drillers. But heard it is back down today, have to check. If you paid $1.91, either you got ripped off or there is a tax change down there.
  25. But wouldn't Reimold, when healthy, be our bat against lefties? And yeah, Machado in leadoff stinks. I think he'll end up #2. You can have him leadoff and get doubled up by your #2, or just let the #1 guy get out... I see no reason to make him lead off when there is equally no viable option at #2. Not like they are moving Jones and Davis up. Kim/Rickards-Machado-Jones-Davis-Trumbo-Wieters-Alvarez-Schoop-Hardy makes most sense to me. All rights at the bottom though. Move just makes no sense the more I see it. Literally one guy, Manny, that has proven he can get on base..
