  1. Ray really wasn't playing all that great before the injury. His best contribution, ironically seemed to be in coverage. That's crazy, because that's where he struggled a year ago. To me he seemed to be in the right place at the right time alot in coverage, but he was not playing the run well at all.

What I ask you is Ray going to be able to do with half an arm? I just don't get where a 37 year old man with half an arm is going to contribute on a football field. Ray Lewis or not.

Believe me that hurts to say, I love the guys passion for the game. Unlike TO and Ocho the NFL will miss Ray. The NFL will always keep chugging, but it will miss a guy like Ray.

  2. Damn shame. I understand bitterness when you lose a football team, but Art did everything he could not take the team away and for people not to see that......that's ridiculous. Especially since.......Cleveland just ended up giving their new franchise owners everything Art wanted. Sounds to me like Cleveland fans were let down by their leaders, not Art.

  3. I'm not sure this is totally Joe's monkey. Sometimes I feel like he's doing what he can while being provided poor tools to succeed. I'm not much of an excuse maker but we've seen the receiver routes and we know that we have the WR's and QB to make it work consistently. It's not working consistently, so in my opinion that falls on offensive coaches as a whole.

We have the same glarring weakness on 3rd and short when we want to run the ball. I believe this to a be a function of the coaches as well. If zone blocking doesn't work for short yardage let's get away from it on the short yardage plays only.

  4. The problem was they did attempt to spread the offense out early in the season on the road and the results were disastrous. Remember our 9-6 KC fiasco? We had our problems against Cleveland etc too. What I really like about this team is we're not even close to our ceiling yet.

This offense can do some real damage in the post season if they can find a comfort zone and get some things going.

As far as our pass rush, Suggs was getting to the QB alot last week. I think he's getting faster and faster. This will be a good test this week to see how far he's come. He was stonewalled in Pitt. I know he played the run well enough, but he trouble getting to Leftwich. I also like the way Kruger and Upshaw have been playing as of late.

We can continue to get better. On defense it's going to be keyed by our improved pass rush. On offense we need to find Joe's comfort zone more often on the road. Cam is going to have to be more flexible and inventive. If it's working, stay with it. Screw the gameplan. If the defense adjusts, you can always go back to your gameplan.

    And why not?

Brady has real problems against heavily pass rushing defenses. I suppose all QBs do, but Brady seems to go from All world status to average. I don't see Brady beating either team. Also, both of those teams offenses can put up points on the Pats, can Brady keep up? I just don't think so. I don't think the Pats match up well. Sure they stomp the teams they're supposed to stomp, but they struggle against the real defenses. The Giants are an example, they give him fits.

  6. Cleetz and Crav I believe you nailed it. Every team has issues like this. The difference between the Pats and Ravens.....it stays in the locker room in NE. In any case, Reed has always been a vocal critic of all leadership. Reed is like an artist while Ray is more like an executive. They both achieve great things and have wonderful talents, but they value things differently.

I think Harbaugh definitely used the situation to galvanize the team.

  7. I'd say one special team player is worth a guy like Babbin. I betcha he could get 5 sacks on our stretch run and who knows what he could do in the playoffs. Let's be honest, we'll probably have to face New England, Houston, and then possibly Eli or Rodgers.

  8. This tells me that Cam needs to be more fluid with his game plan. He's got to recognize what defenses are doing and not be so stubborn about attacking what "he" wants to do. Cam watch a freakin Brue Lee movie will ya???? haha

The offense should be like water. Joe is your fist Cam, it hits automatically. "You" don't do the hitting, he does it for you. :)

  9. Cowher was also special teams coach. I dont think you have to be strong in the x and o's if you keep an eye on your coordinators. Harbaugh knows football. A few small adjustments and I think this team could roll. Maybe Cam is saving something for the playoffs??? Lol

  10. Read closer, it's about the fact that the offense is too simple to succeed at a high level. It would be nice if the defenses didn't jump our routes and we forced them to stay honest. We don't. I think it has something to do with the WR routes. There doesn't seem to be an option for the WR to break off their route based on the coverage provided. Maybe Flacco can't digest that much, I doubt it.

Good post. This is exactly what the problem is. The offense has no complexity to it. Even what Joe has available for audible is not really much help. It's like choosing between Cheerios and Corn Flakes. It's the basic of the basic.

That's a very good analogy. What does it matter if you audible to slant or down and out if the defense is simply going to jump the route every time. We need to have the some "run and shoot" style routes where the receiver and QB work together and make the same read.
