  1. Why would Harbaugh lie? He hasn't been that kind of guy. I also believe that it's in the Ravens' best interest to make a solid run at Grubbs. If they do and they land a center in the draft this will be one hell of line. We'll then be looking for a tackle the year after next.
  2. McNair was tough as nails too. Ben has also never been a hard worker as evidences by his double chin. The similarities between Ben and McNair are uncanny. They're both insanely tough, they both play through anything, they both extend plays waaaaaaay too long, and soon they both will have their careers cut short a few years before it was supposed to. Ben in all likely hood will not play effective football past 33. That gives him at max 4 yrs of productive football. However I see only 2 yrs of productive football and 3 yrs trying to hang around too long........ala McNair. We'll see, everyone is different. Perhaps he'll just keep going and going like the Favre.
  3. Konz is my man. I want the best center in the draft in the worst way.
  4. Kicker's are changing teams alot, however I like to have consistency at the position. I guess I've been spoiled by having Stover all those years.
  5. Joe has also not missed one snap. He's durable as well. I can't believe all those guys that are discounting wins and losses. Joe is a smart guy who doesn't Favre shit up. Alot of this team's success is based on the fact that Flacco doesn't make the costly turnover. I think we're all forgetting too that Flacco is also very good with the game on the line. Stats just aren't everything. If they were Romo would be awesome instead of pretty good. Wins and losses aren't the only gauge that Crav is using, however it's a very important powerful gauge because Flacco has done in CONSISTENTLY. You don't accidentally post 4 consecutive winning seasons as a QB without being pretty damn good. It just doesn't happen. We've all seen guys be successful for a year or two (Sanchez), but then things start falling apart when weaknesses are exposed. We've seen guys like Romo and Ryan being surrounded with more offensive talent and yet, their stats don't propel their teams forward. With the previously mentioned two guys, they do commit the costly turnover in big games. I'm just saying....if Flacco had 1 or 2 winning seasons, yeah, you can't put much stock in that. Four in a row, four straight playoff appearances, and not a single snap missed? This done mostly an aged Derrick Mason too. Flacco has earned his stripes and proven he deserves a good payday. He's our QB, and with the talent on this team, we're not going to start a rebuilding process. He's not gonna get top 5 money, but he's gonna get paid.
  6. Whomever can be a thumper, that's our guy.
  7. They tried that with him 3 years ago, it didn't work. Maybe now he'll be more inclined to work on it after being beaten up the past 2 years. We'll see.
  8. Better to not extend Ben too long, he's got 2-3 yrs. Too many hits ala McNair. McNair looked like a machine, then all at once, out of the NFL. I see Ben moving on that same track.
  9. Well who wouldn't? Typically it's hard to obtain a guy like that, so Cundiff is a much better option than going with an unknown. If we can get a better player for the right price, that goes for any position on this team.
  10. Exactly. This team is gonna be firing in 2012. Pay the man.
  11. Ya know, after saying all that......with the kickoff being moved up......what about Stover???? hehe Just having some fun.
  12. It still doesn't address the fact that the guy shouldn't hang his head in shame. He has nothing to be ashamed of, nor should he feel defeated. He's a professional athlete and accomplishment in and of itself. He was having a productive season until his injury and has hit big FGs in the past. He simply made a mistake and most importantly, he didn't try to shirk one bit of responsibility. Not one iota, not even for a second. That's a man with character and that's a man built for a redemption opportunity. Honestly Favre was more inexcusable and for me, he didn't have crap for clout. Twice Favre single handedly threw away his teams hopes for a Super Bowl, twice. Once during the year his father died and a second time with the Vikings. Both times Favre was around long enough to know better. Favre just couldn't hang the ego for a second and let the "team" win. If he couldn't do it, it wouldn't be done. Inexcusable in a team sport. Favre should be a 4 time SB champion, maybe even 5. Instead he has the same number of Super Bowl wins as Trent Dilfer and Doug Williams. Favre won his share of games, but he also lost his share. And to be honest, the ones he lost always seemed to be on the biggest stage. If he's given a mulligan......so does Cundiff. Like I said before, if Cundiff continues to not execute, that's another story. However if he hits training camp in stride and is nailing FGs, he's our kicker.
  13. He can show his face because he's a competitor. He made a mistake. He's now supposed to hang his head in shame for the rest of his life? Brett Favre never hung his head after throwing away countless games, why should Cundiff? We're not the Samurai, we don't hang our heads when shamed or dishonored. We're Americans and we get the hell back on our horse and say "Fuck you guys, I'm not beaten yet". We get back up. Ray, Reed, and co understand this. They're not going to tolerate continued ineffectual plays, but they're not going to run the guy out on one bad play. He was a pretty good kicker before his injury. It's time for redemption.
  14. Gates was mostly a BBall player wasn't he?
  15. Absolutely. I'm really hoping that the center from Wisconsin drops to us. He will no doubt be the BPA at that point. It would be another Heap/Reed coup at the bottom of the fist round.
  16. Let's also not forget that the QB position has changed. It's not like it used to be. It's much easier for a QB to make an impact early than it used to be. The rule changes have made it so that many rookie QBs come out gunning. Anyone remember Peyton's rookie year? That was probably the best rookie year I could remember and it was pretty tough for Manning to get anything going. Tons of INT's tons of mistakes. It used to be that 1 or maybe 2 rookies in a draft class would start or even play their first year. Now it's like 5 to 7. That's a big difference.
  17. I like the gentlemen at 5'11" 230 please! It would be nice to have a good 1-2 punch.
  18. I think Ozzie drafts the players that he believes will make an impact. He's gone after plenty of WRs. He's struck out a bunch, however I don't think that makes him afraid. Guys like Oz just aren't afraid of stuff like that. Why would he? He's done unbelievably well in so many other positions. No GM is perfect. I'm sure he knows that. With the addition of Flacco and now Smith, he may finally have drafted someone good at every position. It's good to be a Ravens fan.
  19. McClain wasn't the lead blocker that year until he proved that he could no longer carry the load. Once that happened, he was returned to his FB position. If McClain was good enough, he would have been carrying the ball somewhere the past couple of years.
  20. Ozzie isn't scared of drafting any position. How ridiculous.
  21. Is this guy really a difference maker? Is he really worth going after? It seems to me WRs very rarely propel a team deep in a Super Bowl etc. It seems that a good QB and quality O-Line are much more valuable than the WRs. Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like our WRs are poised for something remarkable.
  22. Bring guys in and make em compete. Also, wouldn't it be wise to return to carrying more LB's as special teamers? Didn't we shift to having more WRs as special teams aces when Harbaugh got here? Seems we've lost a bit of our edge there. I may have it backwards though.
  23. You didn't see the Vikings Saints playoff game. AP can't close out a game because he's a turnover waiting to happen. Yes he's gifted. Yes he's a beast. But when a team has a lead, they absolutely should not be giving the ball to AP. He'll squander it in a heartbeat. He refuses to go down too often. If he was smarter about when he chose to fight for extra yards I'd bet his fumbles would be reduced drastically. Chris Johnson is no more a home run threat than Ray Rice. (Referring to the other thing we were talking about) Johnson I'm sure is faster, but Rice has definitely broken his share of big runs and with a significant less amount of carries. I just want to be clear, I'm not saying AP or Johnson suck, it's just that they have some weaknesses that prevent them from being top backs in the NFL. Once Johnson loses his explosive speed he'll quickly be out of the NFL. He doesn't have great vision like LaDanian or incredible moves. He bounces everything outside. He's got one running gear. AP on the other hand, this guy has good moves, insane power, and breakaway speed. Everything you look for in a RB. He glaring deficiency is that he puts the ball on the ground in important situations. It's not just that he fumbles, but he fumbles at critical junctures of games. Guys like McCoy, Rice, and MJD, do it all. Great vision, can catch, good moves, speed, instincts, protect the ball, and can pass block.
  24. But it's not so easy finding a QB is the point. If it was, everyone would have one. It's very difficult to find a good QB and now we have one. I'm not letting him go.
  25. See, I think Rice is better than both Johnson and AP. Those two are far more one dimensional than Rice. And with AP, you get the fumbles. If AP knew what it was to go down, the Vikes would have played in a Super Bowl. Instead, Brees got his. As far as Johnson, it was obvious how in shape and dedicated to football he is. I would compare Rice to hard working all around guys like Jones-Drew and Arian Foster. Foster may not be the receiving threat, but he's money in the pass protection department. Forte is another good all around back that doesn't get the recognition. Don't get me wrong, I think AP and CJ are great talents, I just view them as one dimensional. They don't catch well and they don't pass block well.
