  1. Not quite yet. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/07/24/rice-hasnt-been-informed-of-suspension-yet/
  2. Unfortunately, those two accounted for three of our six hits... Weaver pitched a solid game. Tillman was good, but his fly balls are getting scary. Hunter was Hunter. Take the series win and move on.
  3. Lough and Flaherty are in the lineup tonight. Reconsider?
  4. No more lonely than making it a public point to give a damn about someone else's fandom.
  5. Today is still important, though. I think it'll be our toughest game...Weaver has been hotter than Tillman lately. And who knows what's going on with Machado?
  6. Not much of a tossup tonight. Gonzo pitched a really good game. Hoping we finish them off tomorrow and make this a winning road trip so far.
  7. Well that's disgusting. Is Walgreens paying him?
  8. And Gausman returns to Earth. Of course, so did the bullpen, the bats, and the defense. Pretty sorry looking game all around, from start to finish.
  9. Agreed. Even disregarding the idea of killing people in the first place (which I am much more for than the average Marylander, for instance), the father did what can only be defined as the right thing by not killing the kid. My only issue is that it does feel a little bit strange to be able to do that to someone and not only walk away, but hear a police chief tell the world that he has no problem with it whatsoever. I don't know what the father could have done otherwise (I'm proud of him for even stopping, considering how I'd feel as a father in that situation), but it really does feel awkward criminally that the father faces no charges for it. That's a good awkward feeling, I hope.
  10. Really? I saw it last weekend and hated it, though I know I'm in the minority there. Granted as well, it's not my kind of movie, but too many times Jason Clarke's acting just made me feel weird.
  11. A curved TV improves the viewing angles for those sitting directly lined up with the TV (as in not to the side, where the viewing angles are actually diminished vs. flat TV). It also helps to improve illumination and edge distortion for those sitting within range. Think of a movie theatre screen. They are generally somewhat curved to improve the picture for those sitting in front of it, all of whom would be directly in front and pretty close considering the size of the screen. The effect is completely null when brought into the home where potential viewing angles increase (you aren't forced to sit directly in front like at the theatre). So a curved TV is made for mancave situations where you might only expect one person using the TV at a time, versus a group of people. It's also beneficial for computer monitors for the same reason. Kind of a niche use, but it has one, and people will buy it for that reason alone.
  12. That call is really making waves today...Comcast actually released a statement earlier about it. There's a reason they've been named one of the worst companies in America by various outlets for years. It comes from a culture like that call, not just an outlier.
  13. Yeah, he made that comparison four years ago. You made that video yesterday (and also posted it on at least three other forums that a Google search has shown). Work on your editing skills, bud.
  14. It's embarrassing, but I suppose it happens in this day and age. Just really embarrassing.
  15. Has to be that. Or at the absolute worst (a.k.a. best for the team), what she had taken had nothing to do with him, but he was protecting her, e.g. girlfriend, etc.
  16. I'm suddenly finding myself with lots of free time this week and haven't figured out how to make good use of it yet.
  17. So my company closed its doors with about six hours notice earlier this week, and my first immediate reaction was to file for unemployment insurance to cover myself in case I didn't rebound quickly (getting a job is one thing, but getting a salaried full-time job while still a full-time student is like rocket surgery or brain science). I'm actually surprised by how painless the process is, including the follow-up for application/interview documentation. I've already had a few interviews and made plenty of contacts (including a recruiter who I am thrilled to have met, but that's another story), so I was nervous about the process and thought it'd be another red tape/jump through hoops process. What I haven't decided is whether that makes me feel more or less nervous about the system as a whole, but experiences like this really back up the whole "if you're going to pay into it, use it" thing that most anti-aid folks don't consider until it happens to them.
  18. Plenty of places do that, and it's all an effect of automated systems and the internet. I switched from AT&T to T-Mobile a few months ago, and had my number ported over before my final AT&T bill arrived. Because I had the number ported, I didn't technically have an "account" with AT&T any longer, and as such they refused to let me pay my bill online or over the phone, because there was no account present to attribute it to (you know, even though there was a bill to attribute it to). So they ended up redistributing the dues to my brother's account (he still had AT&T at the time as well) and I paid him for it. DC, I'd say that might already be lawsuit territory.
  19. No I don't think there's any chance of it. Especially once we get to the fall. At this point their pitching is more frightening than their timely hitting, and they paid a huge price to have that.
  20. May or may not being going to Reading & Leeds next month to see him. May or may not be...
  21. Yeah I'd definitely give them a call back in a few weeks just to say hi.
  22. !!!!!!!Jim Irsay is a founding member of the learning triangle!!!!!!! Didn't you know?
  23. This might foil all those plans: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/07/11/report-texans-have-no-plans-to-trade-andre-johnson/
