  1. "I came in here with no intention of inciting anything," Guthrie said. "It's a shirt that I received yesterday. We get a number of things from the fans. Unfortunately for me I used a lack of judgment in putting that shirt on after the game. Never changed, came in here and wore it.

"What ensued was not what I intended. There was no intention to call the attention to the other team, friends, and former teammates, certainly not the organization and most definitely not their fans."

Guthrie said that while he's heard the song before in passing, he was mostly "unaware" of the lyrics to which the shirt is associated.

"There's been a comment on what it refers to, which for the most part I'm pretty unaware," Guthrie said. "I know there's a rhyme and that's where the shirt came from. That's what looked to me, 'clever.' And unfortunately, clever is not a good situation here. So I wanted to apologize.

"... If you know me, I'm not a person that likes confrontation. I'm not a person that wants to go out there and get anybody angry with me or my squad. This is totally on my shoulders. I take that."

Guthrie acknowledged that he has a wardrobe full of "entertaining and fun" T-shirts, but he made no mistake as to the future of this particular one.

"You'll never see the shirt again," Guthrie said. "The shirt was sent to me, and it will be sent to the garbage, because that's probably where it belongs at this point."

  2.

You just gotta give these rookies some extra time while the unexpected guys in the later rounds shined and unexptectedly. Look what undrafted FA Marlon Brown did last year. He hasn't been targeted as much this year because Kubes is using his size and speed as a dcoy to lure the safety out of the route of Smith Sr who has been targeted 87% of the Ravens offensive plays. The safety can't take the chance of letting Marlon roam.

I can't even begin to figure out where you pulled that wonderful information from.

  3. All of the previous posts being considered, I'm not against wishing someone would twist Roethlisberger's leg a different direction.

And I really do like Guthrie and I'm glad he found continued success, considering that there was a period of time when he was the only reliable thing we had on the mound. His apology regarding the shirt was also one of the most sincere ones I've heard in awhile.

  4. I think Markakis is worth more to us than to most any other team. That's the difference. He might not be the fastest guy anymore, but he's still an above-average fielder with a great arm. The power is gone but he's still a reliable hitter.

Those are things that you pay for. Not for $15m per year, but they are valuable nonetheless.

  5. So our biggest free agents are as follows: Cruz, Miller, Markakis, Hundley, Young, and probably Johnson. Which should we try to keep, and for how long?

Cruz is probably pigeonholed to the AL given that he's made himself a clear DH. I can imagine him wanting four years and not getting it here.

Miller is probably the most valuable asset of the bunch. He could be paid/played as a closer for likely ten teams off the top of my head.

Markakis wasn't going to be paid $15m again next season. I don't think he's going anywhere, but that pay cut will be huge.

Hundley's probably the second or third option for catchers on the market this offseason, and I would think someone would find him more valuable than the Orioles with Wieters on the way back.

Young, in my opinion, is the second most valuable piece after Miller. He's clearly identified himself at this point as a role player, but those are increasingly important pieces these days.

Johnson, if not finished, is probably awfully close.

    Any other thoughts?

  6. Yes, if you're heading south on Harford rd, the farm stand will be on the left, right past the stand there's a small RD, starview, first house on left. The main farm that sells the veggies is at the end of starview.

I know exactly where you are...that's awesome.

  7. Nice post!

Yes! I love my 55" HD TV for football. I freek over how vivid everything is. I could watch grass grow.

and the Redzone channel. Scott Hanson is THE BEST

I got to see Redzone for the first time on Sunday. I was enthralled and it was magical.

  8. Foxworth blew out his knee in the preseason and never played a down. He wasn't sued. Ray didn't breach the contract. the Ravens cut him.

In all honesty, the conviction and suspension probably did violate the terms of his contract. The Ravens just aren't a team that seeks to get money back, it seems.

  9. Um, charges vs Ray were dropped because he didn't do anything and the co-defendants were acquitted by a jury of their

peers, the citizens of Atlanta. That has nothing to do with Rice.

There was visual evidence of what Rice did, attack a woman. Again Bisciotti said he made a mistake and regretted not ordering it and sending it to NFL.

You obviously missed it - AGAIN!

I guess OJ was innocent too, right?

PS: heard a terrible but funny joke from Christopher Titus the other day: "we thought OJ was a fluke, but it turned out he was a trendsetter!"

  10.

Did you happen to hear Biscut confirm that his head of security did in fact speak with the Jersey PD about the tape and that it was described to the chief how horrifying it was. That the cheif then went to Cass to tell him about the tape?

Oh but Biscut dodged it by saying the tape was wobbly and blurry, you know the tape we all saw. No matter the quality it was clear what happened. Biscut even implied the old; the story changes with each person who shares it, mantra.

Did you not find it funny that Biscut never talked with Ray before the video came out? His words by the way, in another canned interview. Did you hear him dodge the question about Ozzie fully siding with what Ray told them, how the video confirmed what Ray said?

Glad you mentioned that. It entirely proves his motives (especially the Ozzie slide-by) and provides enough evidence by itself that he wasn't truthful.

Anyone taking what he or anyone else says at face value at this point doesn't really understand how the human mind works and how these big corporations exist. It is fine and fair to want this to be over, but only a fool disregards continually being lied to to fulfill that purpose.

  11. Putting the negative to rest means accepting that it is okay for you to be lied to. I don't accept that.

I've watched the press conference three times and sought to glean from Steve any instances in his speech or body language where I felt like he was lying (he's not the best public speaker), and I still haven't come to much of a conclusion. That being said, there are a few facts, specifically the texts to Rice, where I think he was being honest and forthcoming, if only because it was an easy juxtaposition against the OTL report that didn't really mean much.

I still refuse to believe that he didn't see and/or someone on the team didn't see the second tape in its entirety. I continue to feel lied to and, again, I refuse to accept that.
