  1. There is more and more evidence that suggests the kid was at fault, e.g. suggestion that he might have been grabbing at Stewart's wing as he went by, etc. I don't think there will ever be evidence that Stewart is at fault, like Papa said, beyond a reasonable doubt. I do think there will be a civil suit, and I think he'll quickly settle and pay out whatever they want, too, because he has a conscience and everything those around him have hinted at is that this is destroying him inside.
  2. Agreed. Not getting into trouble might have helped that cause, too. That being said, I think I'm actually more afraid of them keeping him and letting go of someone possibly better (Aiken) than I am confident they'll let him go.
  3. The last person in the world that he needed advice from.
  4. He wasn't directly in the line of traffic until the car before Tony's, which you can also see swerving out of the way.
  5. It is not normal for a driver to get out and deliberately walk into the path of oncoming cars. You won't find an example of that ever. This also isn't NASCAR. It was a local track, and a guy (kid) saw what drivers do on television and reacted similarly (because of what he'd seen) in an angry moment. He was right to be angry, because it definitely looks like Stewart came up on him, but I don't think there's any evidence whatsoever that suggests anything but that the driver walked right into Stewart's path.
  6. That's how those cars drive (e.g. they turn right to turn left because the back swings out so far in the corners). He most likely swerved out of the guy's way, like the blue car before him did, but wasn't as lucky. Really sad. Also, he just released a statement that they announced during the Cup race. Sounds like he's a wreck.
  7. This video pretty much sums it up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NvaHUN6JFPc
  8. I think Thompson and Williams are gone.
  9. Agreed. Max...line looked pretty good too. The only miss I saw was Monroe on one of the early passes.
  10. Anyone else pick up how much red there is in the stands tonight?
  11. Hard to imagine it's already back. Woohoo!
  12. I think the cap cost savings of keeping vs. cutting Rice immediately dispel this notion.
  13. Chen was due for an average night. He's been pitching well (not great), and has been getting plenty of support. Bats need to start showing up more consistently though.
  14. This is all about the secondary for me. Brown, Jackson, and Stewart/Brooks (and Miles depending on who they rotate where). We won't learn much else tonight.
  15. No, but they'll now be spending weeks pontificating about the issue and providing themselves press for it (must be an election year in those jurisdictions). It's mostly comical to me because, you know, he was criminally charged for the matter. In a court of law. Where the Senate has a much higher likelihood of authority. That fact alone proves the previous point that it's all a show that we're stuck paying for.
  16. That being said, I always like to remember that Art was one of the owners Tag strong-armed into voting against Baltimore and St. Louis in 1993.
  17. If only I could tell you that I was joking. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/08/01/senators-urge-goodell-to-reconsider-ray-rice-punishment/
  18. I know ya did. It's gross. But think about the Ravens; if Bisciotti decided in a few years that M&T was antiquated and needed tax-funded replacement, and the city and MSA both disagreed and let him negotiate with, say, L.A. on a new stadium deal, how many of us do you think would be furious that we didn't get the opportunity to fund it? Big time sports franchises have us right under their thumbs, and there's very little we can do about it.
  19. Don't forget Kazmir on the A's. Plus Hammel and Chavez now in competition for the fifth spot. That's about as full of a rotation as I can remember in awhile.
  20. Cespedes is playing for just over $3 million this year, and his average jumps up to nearly $11 next year. I would not be at all surprised if the Sox sign him to an extension ASAP. Because taxpayers keep offering to pay for them. People and their governments do very stupid things when sentiment seeps into business.
  21. That might not be a bad thing, because I think it's better than the "team of thugs who get off way too easily" vibe we're also giving off now.
  22. That being said, the A's and Tigers have both decided they're winning the pennant this year, so the postseason should be miserable. News for Crav: the Yankees designated Roberts for assignment today, as well.
