  1. You mention the playoff experiences as if it happens every year and we're dooming ourselves again. We've been one-and-done a grand total of twice, one of which included a first round bye postseason. They've had playoff expectations and fallen short a grand total of, what, twice? 2005, 2007? Do you bother counting 2004? Does it matter? There's absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying and analyzing the prospects of a postseason in Baltimore. By the logic that, because the expectations were so low, we should just be happy with whatever comes at this point, why is the same formulation invalid when the team falls drastically short of the playoff expectations? Is it not absurd to expect acceptance with that performance? The Ravens have an excellent chance to make the playoffs. There are essentially four teams in our situation vying for three spots (AFCN winner and two wild cards), and we have the upper hand versus one of them, and a chance to gain the upper hand against another in the next three weeks. Who in their right mind would reject excitement with those prospects? No 9-7 AFC team will make the playoffs. The entire AFCE could finish at 9-7 or above, and the Colts (and Patriots to a lesser degree) will pretty convincingly get to at least ten wins. That means that we must go 3-3 or better to assure a realistic shot. Looking at the schedule, I'm somewhat surprised that there's hesitation in the consideration that we can get to ten wins.
  2. Damn, I was so prepared to rip you a new one, and you didn't even rub it in.
  3. 100% agreed, excluding the fact that the roughing call was legitimate. The fumble wasn't even close. It NEEDED to be reviewed.
  4. Even if that were true...and? See, mine was funny in context. Yours was meaningless.
  5. And considering the problems I know you have, you'll probably end up spending even more than that $600 per month trying to get what you need (which won't be nearly as available with a national healthcare system).
  6. Man went and screwed up his NFL livelihood a half dozen times by now this season.
  7. Uh, opposite. I was at White Marsh at 4:30 AM and it wasn't great. JCPenney was packed, and Sears already had a line outside (opened at 5). There were like 30 people sitting outside of Radioshack. Then we went to Kmart, which hadn't opened yet. There was a line going all the way from the door, down the sidewalk, to nearly the end of the shopping center. We decided to skip that since there were no interesting sales anyway, and went to Walmart. I kid you not, the checkout lines for Walmart went all the way from the front of the store to the back. We were there at about 6AM, and every single checkout line went to the back of the store. Surprisingly, though, the electronics register hardly had a line at all. ;) Crav, you are right about that, too. If you take your stuff to any place that runs on commission sales, and buy something (cheap jewelry, vacuum filters from appliances, etc.), the sales folks there will be more than happy to help you avoid any line, as opposed to someone buying from another department entirely.
  8. Excluding Monday night, agreed. I can't stand anything about the 4PM times whatsoever. The wait is horrible, because you get a late game without the convenience of an entire day.
  9. Rookie of the Week voting isn't even over until tomorrow...
  10. Those zero points scored by the Cards sure were a stomping!
  11. Absolute *** I'm stupid for thinking this game is easy ***. No question about it!
  12. He does have to be a political expert for me to consider his opinions and what he says. "Credible sources" mean nothing. You know how a sports journalist cites "team sources" when reporting news? That could be anyone whatsoever, or no one at all. What you're missing is what Moore does in his movies. He's not necessarily telling us lies. He's deceiving us, committing what's called sin by omission; that is, he's telling us something without the whole story. If I tell you, for example, that little Timmy kicked a man in the balls, you'd be prone to think that the kid is a troublemaker. However, if you know the whole story, you'd know that the man, who tried to kidnap Timmy, is the real problem; Timmy was only defending himself. You can't understand what's going on without knowing ALL that's going on. That's nearly impossible sometimes, which is what makes Michael Moore's job so easy. I linked you to this on the last occasion we discussed Moore: http://www.davekopel.com/Terror/Fiftysix-d...renheit-911.htm. It's only one point-of-view and is fairly conservatively toned, but it's at least equally legitimate to anything Moore might say.
  13. Happy day, everyone! Hey Crav, I'll be having cardinal for dinner pretty soon. ;)
  14. Even I don't wanna see Kyle Boller on cocaine.
  15. That couldn't be more incorrect and uneducated. Bush's approval rating was at its lowest (eclipsed now by his rating after Obama's election) in the months leading up to the movie's release in June of 2004, and hasn't significantly decreased since, before this year's campaigns. Michael Moore is a disgusting liberal, and I have absolutely no intellectual respect for anyone who takes to truth anything he spews without an attempt at educating themselves with the full issue; that is, Moore is not a political expert in any way whatsoever--he's a producer, and his views should not be taken for unquestioned fact in any circumstance.
  16. WOW. You're exactly right, and that picture doesn't even do the comparison justice. Good catch!
  17. He won't with that attitude! Go vote!
  18. Vote Ed Reed for defensive player of the week: http://www.nfl.com/partner?partnerType=players-defense Vote Joe Flacco for rookie of the week: http://www.nfl.com/partner?partnerType=rookies
  19. Pennington and Winslow are easy choices. You've got slim pickins at WR; I'm not really sure what to tell you.
  20. You can't tell. It's easier to prognosticate the outlook of a good team than a bad one. They could win either of those last two, though I don't see it happening. Their win should have been over one of the last few games. They've handed big leads away.
  21. Oh, wow. That's actually pretty impressive. For some reason I didn't believe it, because Houston/Cleveland was the first game to come to mind, but there were a LOT of high scoring games over the weekend. And the Ravens helped!
