  8. These guys are laying their bodies on the line for everyone else’s enjoyment. It’s insanely violent out there. If the players want to add to their own thrill by putting up a few bucks, big deal. Have fun. But there’s a huge difference between that kind of business, which I view as typical locker-room bonhomie, and a system of offering specific cash bounties for injuring opponents. That is wrong, wrong, wrong. View the full article
  9. Houston Texans defensive end turned outside linebacker Mario Williams will be the marquee free agent this offseason not named Peyton Manning. (Interesting side note: The Texans drafted Williams No. 1 overall in part due to Manning’s presence in the AFC South and now they will both hit the market at the same time.) He is a natural at defensive end in a 4-3 defense, but did well enough in 2011 to garner interest from 3-4 teams. View the full article

  20. Time will tell if Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs, the 2011 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, will make into to the Pro Football Hall of Fame whenever his playing career ends. But if Suggs does get inducted, his gear will be waiting for him when he arrives. View the full article
  21. The Houston Texans have reportedly agreed to a contract extension with running back Arian Foster, a deal that will surely be discussed in the ongoing contract negotiations between the Ravens and running back Ray Rice. Both are 25, Pro Bowl players and key offensive contributors on teams that won their divisions in 2011. View the full article
  22. The Ravens would like to improve their offensive line during the offseason, but the best move they could make in free agency would be re-signing Ben Grubbs, who could soon be one of the top guards available. The Ravens recently said that they have already offered big money to Grubbs -- and there’s no reason not to believe that claim -- but if Grubbs, who turns 28 this month, hits the open market, he could be gone for good.
