  1. I forgot to mention in that long winded post that the games are won in the trenches. I know that from being in there at my lowly level and it's the first place I look at in a game when everyone is looking at the ball. I saw Denver's line dominate Carolina early on and they wore them down completely by the time Superman fumbled near the end and was too tired or scared to fall on the ball. Panthers line was pushed back all night. Look at Von Miller and the plays he made alone. Panther's coach sure would have loved an Ogden at LT than a DEZ Sunday night. Games are won in the trenches. When Unitas was asked how he performed like that in sudden death of the 58 championship game he said its simple. I couldn't do anything at QB w/o those big guys in front of me. CAM should know that by now although his head still might be spinning.

    Good Point

Yea, it's coaching and a lot of luck plus the system. Denver was obviously a better fit for him with Wade Phillips who use to coach Dallas for several years.
  3. Well, again I'd take the LT if he were like JO and we could just forget about the left side for the next decade. If Tunsil is there at the 6th spot he'll jump on him if KO leaves. He'd be the best player on the board and is better than any WR on the board including Treadwell. I've seen him going as high as #1 pick of the entire draft on some mocks. Ozzie won the SB w/o a WR or a QB but he had the best LT in the game protecting the blind side for whomever was in there. That said, he would have won a couple of more if he had a DEZ. After we lost to Indy, and I was there, last time we got them in POs, Polian, their GM said Ravens would have won the SB that year if they just had a blue chip WR. They only had Mason whom Indy shut down in 2d half. He alone kept it close for the first half. Ozzie did draft TT who was a first rounder and good receiver in college but he didn't nothing in the pros. He took another first rounder in Mark Clayton who was a college All American. I begged him to take Roddy White drafted in the 3rd round and he hurt us when we played Atlanta and that brings up Atlanta. They never even been to the SB with all those great WRs like Roddy and Julio. In fact, they traded the farm for Julio and that got Mike Smith fired. He was on the way to play us in SB 47 with a 2 TD lead vs SF but blew it for lack of defense. He gave up a lot of defense to get that special WR. Look at Cinci with AJ Green who has hurt us a lot but they always get bounced out of the play offs in round 1 except once, I think. The best WRs like White, Brandon Marshall, HIney Ward and Boldin were drafted in the middle rounds. Oz did score with Torrey Smith in the 2d round who got him a ring. Torrey didn't score a TD in SB 47 but demanded coverage from their best CBs because of his speed and JJ got their best cover guys on the other side that weren't much. But Torrey and JJ took SF to the outside corners and that left the middle wide open. Pitta scored his TD in the middle of the end zone and that was the difference of the game. Even Dickson made a crucial catch over the middle and Pitta got a ring before Gronk. So Ozzie did draft one good WR while signing in great slot guys like Mason, Boldin and JR to win playoff games for him. And speaking of the middle rounds, Ozzie took Patrick Johnson in the 2d round as WR leaving Hiney Ward on the board drafted in the 3rd round by Piss. He took, OMG, DEM WILLs and left Brandon Marshall on the board and somebody bad with Boldin on the board. The WR position has just been Ozzie's achilles heal but won two SBs drafting whom he did.
  4. Ozzie could have had DEZ and didn't want him then. Dallas traded up for him but Ozzie's pal Bellicheat called and said Jerry is on the phone. He wants DEZ, do you want to better their offer? Oz said no thanks and Ravens fans were pissed as hell especially when they learned Oz could have traded up but didn't want to. Anyway, to get back to your question, I'd take Staley because we wouldn't have had all the probs we had at LT over the years like Gaither, Fat Mac, and now Monroe and Hurst filling in for him. SF went tot he SB with Staley at LT while Dallas has not with DEZ. Besides, there were so many red flags on D EZ who has caused a lot of trouble for Dallas like beating up his own mother with her bra and getting arrested. The only thing that kept him out of prison was that his mother dropped charges vs him but he can't go near her house according to a court order. He's just now settling down and become the type of player you'd expect of a #1 pick. Ozzie won the SB w/o DEZ and after drafting Pitta who won it with a big catch and TD.
  5. Is this RSR? I thought I was on extreme Ravens -lol. They hate him over there as there's a big battle between Vinny and Tony who changed his position after someone in the office said he was wrong. I said it sounded like Tony was scared he was going to lose his press pass to the castle. That was when Mikie ran a big story about HARBs. Vinny is bad and often wrong but Rob is OK. He was right on Elam since day 1.
  6. No we didn't. Not all of us. I told DeCosta at a Nest 1 meeting that he fucked up the Oher draft and it got me kicked out of the club. That was after we lost to the Squeelers in POs and Joe needed weapons. All winter everyone talked about the wide receiver we'd get. Instead, they drafted Oher who wasn't any good to begin with. Ozzie never read the book on him.He knew about it but didn't read how stupid he was. The word is mentioned in the beginning of the book and all through it. The other GMs read the book. Oher was one of the ones who couldn't learn Castillo's zone blocking scheme but the entire line couldn't except Yanda and most of them were shipped out. The Sun called the pick and said it would be him but I wanted Nicks. DeCosta told me that Nicks wasn't as good a player as Oher. All he did was win 2 SB rings in NY and was the go to guy going down the stretch when they covered the other WR. Nicks won the game with some acrobatic catches while Oher was just dumb. Even Gruden said on TV, Oher has been here long enough to know what to do but he looks like he's in a daze out there. He had no idea on whom to block and didn't. He was beaten on the right side and then on the left side and then back on the right side. He almost blew the miracle play in Denver. He was beaten badly and just as his man was ready to sack Joe, ala Cam Sunday night, Joe stepped up in the pocket and fired a strike to JJ who was behind everyone. It almost didn't happen because of Oher. Oher gave up a sack in the SB. He got a ring and we won in spite of him. But I'm talking about the top 5 OTs in the game. When they're drafted you can put them in and forget about the left side. Ravens did it with JO and Baltimore Colts did it with Jim Parker. Berry tells the story how Colts had probs with the left side getting to Unitas so they drafted Parker and they never heard from the left side again just like us with JO. Barring injuries, Ronnie Staley should be good enough to play LT here for a long time. He's no Gaither or Fat Mac. or Monroe. Tunsil is the other LT you can insert and forget about but he won't be there. If he is, Ozzie would draft him over Ramsey or Treadwell.
  7. Actually, I don't drink but always buy a meal. You don't want me drinking. I've been banned from enough bars sober for fighting mostly for throwing out Squeelers fans. I hate em. Don't mention my name to the manager of Looneys. She'll get hysterical and then ban you like she did me-lol but that was for personal reasons and she couldn't stand to see me and I was sober. Then there was the time some boys and me from Nest 1 were arrested for busting up the Salty Dog in OC,MD. We all had to do community service. Doug Phillips who started the Nests and was ahead of things used club funds to bail us out of jail. Even the President of Nest 1 had to do community service down there for getting a ticket for drinking a beer on a side walk by the pool. All the Nests were thrown out of the Seabony for throwing trash cans, completely full, into the pool and one girl was swimming naked in the pool. We were thrown out of the Carousel when members refused to go outside to smoke and the cops came and cleared everyone out during a bull roast in their restaurant. As Doug Phillips always says, we were pretty much thrown out of every place we stayed. Now they're more mellow and have stayed at the Spiniker the last several years. They say those guys are old now and turn in early around 10 pm. We partied all night.
  8. LOL - Nothing has helped the Browns for the last 10 years - nothing. Joe Thomas is one player and the only one on offense. Kruger the Beast is the only one on defense-lol. That was a joke. We could have forgotten the left side if we had Joe Staley. He would have made a difference here but we had great teams going to the SB and all those playoffs. He would a made a big difference and we would have never had Hurst filling in for the injured. Phil Savage was the GM who drafted Thomas wanting to take the protection for his QB first especially since he wouldn't last long and then he took his QB who bombed and got Phil fired. Joe Staley has been a constant in SF. Ozzie would say that was one of his worst moments in football. He wanted Staley bad and Mike Nolan knew it. He used to coach here under Billick and got the SF job. He knew Ravens needed a LT as JO was gonna retire so he traded in front and grabbed Staley who has been a force and made the pro bowl. I never seen Ozzie as pissed. That presser was like a morgue. He got Grubbs who turned out to be the best LG in the game but left as a FA but SF had to give up a 1st round pick the following year to get Staley which means they didn't have a #1 pick. That helped get Nolan fired because he didn't have the bodies he needed. It was like trading for a home run hitter like Frank Robinson but not having a Jim Palmer to get the other side out. Anyway, Ravens always beat SF with Staley in both the regular season and the SB by only a few points. We wouldn't have had all this worry on the left side with Staly.
  9. You should get Sirus-XM radio. It has all the games and the best baseball talk you'll ever hear. Same with football. Their analysts give you more details than any local shows. You can use it in your ipod while walking. I had it for the first 5 or 6 years when it was out but I didn't like paying for about 100 channels I didn't use. It irked me when they said listen to Ch. 155 or something. Youre paying for it. That's when I stopped. I made a killing on their stock. I was at the Ravens weekend in OC,MD and a guy in Nest 1 was talking about Siri stock. You needed $2Gs to invest and to just forget about. A lot of guys were signing up so I did too. Got in at $1 and it went all way up to $11 and than slipped to $9 and that's when I got out and I invested more than $2G. Then it crashed all the way down to 10 cents. I bought more then at $2Gs and it went up to $2 or so and I sold it. I miss the football talk and the poltical shows during the election campagin.
  10. I can't get the Ravens games. I go to the local water hole and watch with my friends but I can't copy and break down the games but I'm only paying a fraction of what I'm paying now. There's a channel to stream into roku that allows you to access all local channels but it doesn't work for me. Someday it will. I did read there's a way to do it but you have to be a real geek or specialist to do it. Everyone I know has roku or Apple.
  11. CRAVN - You need DIRECTV for the SundayTicket don't you to get the Ravens games? I heard that was about $300 pr mo or so. Now on ROKU you can't get the local channels but I don't watch it anyway except for Ravens game but I watch them at the local water hole with my pals. I just won't be able to tape the game and break them down during the week. ROKU is the wave of the future and already putting dents in cable and sat/tv. There's also Apple-TV but you can't stream as many channels into it and Amazon has Fire which is excellent but you have to subscribe to it's premeir membership. Just go to Wallmart and get Roku for $99. Don't get the little stick for $50 because it's a lot slower getting everything on screen.
  12. I have COMCAST after dropping DirecTV which got very expensive. I'm thinking of dropping all COMCASTs TV stations and keeping just the wi fi for my ROKU box. I stream thousands of TV and radio stations from all over the world, millions of movies. I never watch local TV any more except when the Ravens are on. I'd only pay about $30 pr mo with just COMCAST's wi fi which the ROKU box has to have. I only pay for Netflix but would stream in HBO and Showtime and FOX NEWS as the only channels I'll night. All of that for a fraction of what I'm paying COMCAST.
  13. Or as long as John Angelos is alive. He's more or less running the O's now and is another good lawyer from the U of Baltimore. He tours the country lobbying the MLB for a salary CAP like football has so the small markets can compete. But John will be a strong owner like his dad looking out for the business. Maybe he'll spend a little more-lol. But KC, one of the smallest markets, just won the World Series on smarts and O's as a small market are the 7th richest team with its cable market and Piss did OK.
  14. LOL - Petey won. The court threw out the arbitrator's decision so right now everything is back in limbo. MASN announced that it was confident a neutral and fair process would play out in the end. The Nats and MLB were pissed and said nothing. I told you, don't mess with Petey in court. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/wires/ap/article-3304199/Judge-tosses-arbitration-said-MASN-owes-Nats-298M.html
  15. Ditto, Fuck Elway. I hate that son of a bich. I didn't watch him receiving the trophy. Made me sick seeing him on the side line with that smug smile on his face. I am happy for Kubes. I loved his work here last year getting us to the playoffs and winning the wild card game in Piss. They were expecting us to run the clock down and kick a FG but Kubes said we're winning the game now and sent Gilmore on a crossing pattern who caught the ball and ran down the side line for a TD that iced the game. We sorely missed him this year. I hate Denver. I hate the town. I went up to the hotel restaurant late after a game the Ravens won with Elvis as QB-lol, and they wouldn't even serve me because I wore my colors. I ended up at a diner outside of town. When I complained to the manager the next day he said you started a fight. I said what, nobody fought anyone. All I said was nice game guys. Is that starting a fight? So I wrote the president of the company when I got home and he was furious enough to fire the bar tender and reprimanded the manager in writing and he sent me a coupon for a free meal the next time I was in town. On top of all that I got hi altitude sickness in Aspen and was taken down to Denver right away where I spent my first two days in the hospital. Now that is some weird shit being in a hospital in a strange city and my family had no idea where I was. All my clothes and car were up in Aspen brought down later by my roomie. All that was a week after 911 and we were afraid to fly so we drove out and stayed in my friend's condo in Aspen but I got sick as soon as we arrived. Never saw it.
  16. And everyone should be pissed at this. MASN owned the rights for the Nats games in DC. That was the kicker when they brought the team in. The O's were in the country's 4 largest market when there wasn't a team there. It went from York, PA all the way down to NOrthern, VA but fans came as far from North and even South Carolina to games. Petey lost all that revnue but owned the cable market so the new family, Lerners, that owned the Nats didn't have a cable contract. Petey was guaranteed that CABLE market in exchange for bringing the Nats in from Toronto and breaking up his territory of 9.6M people which he had for over 20 years or more. MLB did it because of pressure from Congress that wanted a team there and in part because MLB owners were still pissed at Petey for nixing the fielding of replacement teams like the NFL had in the 80s and they won their strike. In baseball, the entire season was shut down or almost when the owners wanted more financial controls and the World Series was cancelled for the first time. Players won. But now the Lerners want that cable market after seeing what it di for Petey's franchise and Selig wanted them to have it so they renegged on their promise to let Os continue with the right to DCA games. They both promised in writing so Petey sued them. You really don't want to mess with him in court. Just as the asbestos companies and my mom who got a nice settlement via Petey and especially in this case since he has the guarantees in writing. So in retaliation for getting sued Seleg gave the All Star game to another city. It was supposed to come here. The last time he did that to Petey he lost in court in 2005 and again it was over the Os TV rights in DC. Baltimore always gets it in the back from the NFL and MLB. Did you know Jerry Hoffberger was the first owner to put a ticket window in DC for that market. When EBW came over from DC to own the team he ended up with everything below Baltimore down to Florida. Petey is actually a nice guy for those that know him. I know a guy who works for the food company that supples all the stadium's concessions and the private club restaurant in the warehouse. He was supervisor the food in Pete's sky box. When he left Angelos gave him a $100 tip. Five mins later his boss said Angelos just gave me a $100 tip so I have to split it with you. He said no you don't, he gave me $100 too. I asked much does he pay for all that food in the box and he said that night his bill came to $15,000. Man, they pay that for each home game. My nephew sat in one and they just kept bringing in crab cakes, lobster, steak the entire game plus burgers and hot dogs and a ton of ice cream for the kids plus desert. I don't eat bad. Had fried shrimp last night at MO's and treated two old friends to crab cakes on Saturday. Had a hot dog for lunch. I met him at the firm when I took mom down to collect her asbestos money. I never saw him before as this was before he bought the Os but there was no mistaking who he was. He walked through the halls like he owned the place. It was a little office off Harford Rd but he moved into the top floor of the World Trade Center after he bought it-lol. An update on the court case. The Nats one the first round that was in arbitration and demand millions from Os. They're not paying and sued MLB. Selig was pissed. Now he used a power play and force another owner to sell his team, the name in the link. He couldn't do that with Petey he's so strong. This is a better link than the other one. So it's fitting that Petey kicked Selig in the ass for renegging and being such an ass by suing him as Selig went out of office he's responsible for starting a war between clubs that is being felt all over baseball and will have great effects on every team. http://www.bleedcubbieblue.com/2014/7/29/5949595/orioles-nationals-involved-in-tv-rights-lawsuit http://www.sportingnews.com/mlb-news/4603875-baltimore-orioles-washington-nationals-masn-dispute-tv-rights-bud-selig-montreal-expos
  17. Think again Tornado. Your Forbes link doesn't include their CABLE TV ownership. Acquiring MASN which has the rights for the Nationals games as well pushed their value over $1B according to Bloomberg in 2013 as O's are baseball's latest billion dollar team and baseball's 7th richest team. The Baltimore Orioles are Major League Baseball’slatest billion-dollar franchise. 18. Denver discovered kryptonite and that killed CAM. Broncos are crucifying CAM saying he didn't want to win on that last fumble and he didn't dive on the ball when he could have and recovered it. He didn't even try. Must have been the kryptonite. Superman got a big dose of humble pie tonight.
  19. I also went by this that said the average MLB team is valued at $1.2B (with the small-market Tampa valued at $600M) I knew I read somewhere that the O's and Ravens are worth about $1B in the Yard, a little over a billion for Bisciotti who paid around $600M to Art MOdell for the team. His counselor said he would make more money investing on Federal notes getting about 5% at the time then it crashed with everything else in 08 to about 1%. Everything Bisciotti touches turns to gold. O's also spent $118M for payroll, the 12th highest out of 30 teams. http://blog.surepayroll.com/2015-mlb-team-payrolls/
  20. That's what I was going by but this link says $460M down from Tornado's number. Another link said the same. http://www.getnetworth.com/tag/how-much-is-baltimore-orioles-worth/

  22. The last o-lineman they used it on was Wally and he went into a temper tantrum and finally got shipped out of town to NO. He got what he wanted but cheated himself out of a SB ring. But the tag worked well with C-MAX. He didn't complain and actually got a raise with each tag until he was finally signed. Here Brian McFarland the CAP guy on RSR who goes on 105.7 fm with CAP info says no to KO getting the CAP. He says if they do surprise us with a tag then that means Monroe is out the door and KO's the LT. _________________________________________ Why wouldn’t the Ravens franchise KO as a guard and play him at tackle vs signing a mid level tackle? ANSWER: There’s no Franchise tag just for Guards as the entire offensive line (OT, G, C) is calculated together for Franchise Tag purposes. As such, with the highest paid OTs making more than the highest paid Guards (or Centers, for that matter), the Franchise Tag calculation is dominated by the contracts of OTs. As such, using the Franchise Tag on KO, and planning to play him as a Guard, does not make a lot of sense from a Cap perspective. Most teams aren’t going to want to pay a Guard like an OT. So, if the Ravens were to unexpectedly use the Franchise Tag on KO later this month, I would think that that would be a strong signal that they would be planning to play him at OT and not as a Guard and would likely portend the end of Eugene Monroe’s career in Baltimore. _______________________________________________ http://russellstreetreport.com/2016/02/05/baltimore-ravens-salary-cap/could-the-ravens-franchise-osemele/
  23. Defense wins championships. Denver and Seattle have been to last 3 SBs and with strong Ds and running the ball first to set up the pass. Trest came in and almost set a team record with the most passing attempts ever for the Ravens. As much as I want a playmaker like Tredwell we might be better off gettin Hargreaves or Ramsey as CB. One of the 2 should there there. Dallas might take Tredwell anyway.
  24. There's not guarantee about any player. Phil Savage said at the Barn I see a lot of Ogden, Lewis and Heap jerseys in here but when we drafted them we had no idea they would become the stars that they did. We hoped they would but had no idea and he included Ray and JO in that group. Players are dropping like flies today so there's no guarantee on anyone. Ravens missed last 2 SB because of injuries - last year when it took the best QB and coach in the game to beat a banged up secondary after blowing a 2 TD lead - twice - in Foxboro and in February and this year SI and Peter King said Ravens would win SB 50 barring injuries. You saw what happened. Back to Staley - He would be the best player on the board if Treadwell is gone to Dallas so Ozzie will draft him but only if KO leaves. He wants to stay and Ozzie is gonna try to sign him. Then again who would you want KO or Von Miller if Oz could sign him. Say Miller wants to get back with Dooom and signs, there's your play maker and the best so we could let KO walk and draft Ronnie Staley at LT. Of course just about everyone will be trying to sign Von Miller. Then go for the secondary help. Just saying - ya know?
  25. Exactly, fans like to use that as an excuse for ruining Oher but he was ruined before he came here but Ravens are always moving guys up and down the line. We won the SB when Caldwell moved KO back to LG and inserted Fat Mac to LT. If they draft Ronnie Staley, he will stay there ala JO. Ravens won't have to worry about the left side again so it's not a bad thing if we draft him. We're just going to have to wait another year for a playmaker unless Ozzie can sign Von Miller.
