  1. Says it's full of errors, inaccuracies and misunderstandings. They will address each one sometime next week but they have a game tomorrow. http://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/article-1/Ravens-Release-Statement-On-ESPN-Article/be5fc771-e2ff-433f-bcb7-7854b73e6524
  2. ILB coach Martindale told him it's time to do something, so he literally took the message to heart and forced a fumble and recovered it effectively stopping the Squeelers. He's played in every defensive snap thus far. Has been a great #1 pick. ______________________________ “I have to give credit to [Martindale] because before I went out there he told me that it’s time to get my hands on the ball. And it happened,” Mosley said. “I just have to get my hands on the ball when I can.” The play was evidence that the No. 17 overall pick is continuing to make strides with a strong start in his rookie campaign. ____________________________ http://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/article-1/CJ-Mosley-Off-To-Strong-Rookie-Start-/593e379e-8dde-4cb5-b085-4e217fb0fb02
  3. When it comes to the NFL, it's always about money. I got a free Rice jersey and will wear it around town.
  4. ANOTHER NFL running back got busted for domestic violence. Jonathan Dwyer of the Cardinals this time. http://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/2014/09/17/report-former-steelers-rb-jonathan-dwyer-arrested-for-domestic-violence/ The details are sketchy. But the cops were involved after neighrbors called in about a fight. Someone broke a bone....it's not clear who. And Dwyer took the woman's phone away so she couldn't call the cops. The Cardinals may be the latest team to be playing dumb. This incident happened in July, and the Cardinals are denying having any knowledge of it until today. That's possible....but it's hard to believe they had zero knowledge of it. The NFL LITERALLY has a network of Ray Donovan types around the country. One assigned to every team. Others are in non NFL markets just in case players get in trouble elsewhere. They are mostly former FBI agents who have contacts and hospitals and police departments alerting them of NFL players in trouble. Here's a whole story about it. It's really quite interesting. 5. He comes from those big and tough Wisconsin lines ala Joe Thomas of the Clowns. He was injured when drafted but Oz got him anyway and let the injury heal while learning the playbook. He started vs Denver last year in Oher's spot. Gave up 2 sacks but it was vs one of the best pass rushers in the game. Yanda said there would have been more sacks with any other rookie RT. Then there was the game in Miami last year when he played on an over-balanced line and Rice scored standing up after Wagner pancaked his man. Yanda said he came in here worked his butt off and kept his mouth shut. He reminds me of me. LOL
  6. Oher has gotten worse in Tenn. PFF gave him a -2.25 while Wagner got a +1.15.
  7. From national writer Pete Prisco. Pete Prisco from CBS Sportsline on Ricky Wagner Pete Prisco @PriscoCBS · 13h Right side of Ravens line with Yanda and Wagner could be one of the best soon Pete Prisco @PriscoCBS · 13h Wagner is more athletic than I thought. Better than Michael Oher, that's for sure. Pete Prisco @PriscoCBS · 14h Ricky Wagner of the Ravens was really good against the Steelers. Good, young player. Killed Worilds
  8. Here's an description with photos of his blocking and how well Zuttah is playing. He's not in the top 10 for Centers but he ain't bad and is better than Gino. http://russellstreetreport.com/tale-of-the-tape-zuttahs-noticeable-presence/
  9. Thanks, man. I'm just a NEWB and haven't been insulted yet with old man jokes or stalked by someone who loves to point out my errors like a spellings, abbreviations, movie quotes, wrong date but never on football strategy because there are none. I did rough up a couple guys on another board at a hot tub party years ago that were trying to bully me off the board but those days are gone. Well, Sat night I threw a guy off my seat at the bar when he stole it but that was after my gal told me to. She tried to save it-lol. Is a guy named Tim still associated with this board. He loves me. We used to sit together at the games. I was walking back to H lot years ago with Papasmurfbell after a Squeelers game and he stole a yellow crying towel hanging from a fence. the owner came over and said that's mine and Smurf wiped his ass with it and dumped it in a fire. THE Squeeler just walked away. LOL I love it here. Thanks everyone.
  10. When we got him Zuttah was rated around 18th - 20th best Center and played in every game and every position on the line. He isn't that much bigger than Gino last year and got pushed around by Squeelers.
  11. The Clowns almost beat Squeelers. One sack by Shazier took them out of FG range at the end. Pissburgh needed a last min drive from Jen to win it.
  12. Just four days prior to Thursday night the Ravens played poorly against a tough Cincinnati Bengals team yet hung around long enough to nearly force overtime. Before they could even let the loss soak in the Ray Rice elevator video surfaced a little over 12 hours after the defeat. It took the world and the Ravens by storm. No one was quite sure how the team would respond. An 0-2 start was certainly a possibility and thoughts of an implosive season weren’t far behind. A convincing team win certainly put those thoughts to rest. THE GOODJoe Flacco was extremely efficient and a well-balanced attack designed by Gary Kubiak certainly showcased how tough the Ravens can be to beat if they can move the ball on the ground. Give Flacco his due also for possessing uncommon toughness (see video below) that has to be respected and appreciated by his teammates…The offensive line was outstanding when grinding it out on land and in pass pro when Flacco went to the air. The push up front during quarterback sneaks was particularly impressive. Rick Wagner and Eugene Monroe were the standouts on line coach Juan Castillo’s unit. Nice to see Owen Daniels get into the flow. Whatever the reason for his inactivity during the preseason now seems like a distant and insignificant memory…Steve Smith, Sr. was born to play in Baltimore. It’s early but Senior is on pace for a 104 catch, 1500 yard season…Bernard Pierce in the face of enormous criticism chipped in with a very solid bounce back game (22 carries, 96 yards). Justin Forsett (8 carries, 56 yards) was extremely effective as a change-of-pace back, a role he is perfectly suited for. On defense the Ravens were able to keep the Steelers out of the end zone and snap Ben Roethlisberger’s streak of 30 consecutive games with a TD pass. In the front seven the standouts were Elvis Dumervil (2 sacks) CJ Mosley (9 tackles) and Brandon Williams. Dumervil overpowered Steelers right tackle Marcus Gilbert who has 75 pounds on the Ravens rush linebacker…Brandon Williams clearly earned more playing time. On the back end Matt Elam arguably had his best day as a pro. He was solid up in the box as a run defender (team leading 10 tackles) and he was on time as a pass defender forcing Roethlisberger to redirect two third down passes that sailed incomplete…Jimmy Smith is going to be expensive to re-sign. He’s playing with confidence and did a tremendous job on the elusive Brown who padded his stats late in the game when the game’s outcome was a foregone conclusion…Sam Koch netted 48.5 yards on two punts. THE BADThe Ravens red zone offense needs work as they were just 2 of 6 on the night…Torrey Smith is in a contract year and if his rather pedestrian play continues, the team might be better off waiting before extending a new long-term deal. He doesn’t seem to be maturing as a receiver and has just 4 catches for 60 yards on the season so far…Haloti Ngata disappeared for the first 58 minutes of the game and didn’t register a single defensive statistic until the 2:00 mark of the fourth quarter. That stat is highlighted below. THE UGLYThe polarizing emotions stemming from the Ray Rice domestic violence case paved the way to some not so desirable debate amongst fans. A win over the Steelers certainly helps to tone that down. THE MEGAN FOXSince his arrival John Harbaugh has continually reinforced the concept ofTEAM. Thursday’s win was a complete team victory. Props go to the coaching staff for keeping the team’s focus inside the lines and not upon the tsunami-sized distractions outside the lines. From Joe Flacco’s efficient performance, to the running game, to protecting the football, to taking it away and to managing field position and the clock, the Ravens were nearly flawless. THIS is their blueprint for success. Let’s hope the roll it out each week. GIF’s courtesy of Gordon Dixon
  13. LOL - Good point and scary thought. DeCosta said Urachel is the future of the Center. Maybe it's time to give him a try. He shocked fans making the team and passing Ryan Jensen on the depth char but I think he was in-active Thurs, not sure.
  14. He won SB 47 so that will always be the greatest but in light of the media blitz on the entire Ravens organization and the releasing of Rice and all the kaos, Thursday's win over the Squeelers might just be his greatest and by 20 points. Consider that he spent a lot of time with the media explaining things as ownership left him to hang in the press room, his assistant coaches had to get the team focused w/o him and they came thru big time. Even Squeelers fans say they were out-coached, out-schemed, out- punched, and out-drafted. http://www.baltimorebeatdown.com/2014/9/12/6138931/was-this-john-harbaughs-best-victory-yet
  15. Exactly. We win that game with Webbie. His back is OK but he's out of shape and not in 100% condition to go at full speed. It may take 3 or 4 games to get into top shape. Maybe they could put him in for a few plays that he could endure. That said, their guy, James Wright was also out for the game.
  16. Film Study's much awaited for grades on the o-line are in. Wagner gets an A, so does KO who is back and Yanda, Monroe gets a B but note Zuttah's. DeCosta said Uraschel-sp is the future center of this team. Maybe this is why. Each lineman played all 63 snaps (excludes 2 kneels): Monroe: Eugene had his 2nd consecutive solid game. For reasons that are probably obvious, interior linemen have higher block percentages in level 2, but he connected on 4 of 6, which is good for a tackle. His only negative pass-blocking score came when he was bulled by the stunting Keisel for a pressure (Q2, 8:11). I also charged him with half of the penetration (shared with Zuttah, Q2, 2:15) when he failed to throw Jarvis Jones enough past the play in the backfield and turned upfield to look for a 2nd block. He excels at that and it’s a rare opportunity for a tackle to take out 2 defenders on the same play, but it just didn’t work out that time. Scoring: 56 blocks, 5 missed, ½ penetration, 1 pressure, 53 points (.84 per play). I credited .04 adjustment for opposition, but that still leaves him with a high B. So far, so good on this signing. Osemele: It’s time to get excited with a 2nd consecutive top-shelf effort from Kelechi. He did not allow a pressure event or penetration. Subjectively, I’d say his run blocking was a little less special than against the Bengals, but still very good. He made 7 of 9 blocks in level 2, which was a question mark after the back surgery in 2013. Take a look at his pancake (Q4, 13:30) of Keisel and you’ll see he staggers his opponent with the first contact, then finishes well from behind the play as he and Monroe annihilate the left edge to lead Pierce’s 10-yard run. Both Jimmy Smith and Osemele are under club control through the 2015 season and should be considered cornerstone re-signings. If that plays out, the 2016 Ravens will be paying a lot of money for their offensive line with only Wagner still cheap. Scoring: 59 blocks, 4 missed, 59 points (.94 per play). That’s an A without adjustment and .98 per play with adjustment. Zuttah: Jeremy was flagged for holding for the 2nd time this season (Q3, 15:00) and 21st time in his last 48 games to kill the initial drive of the 2nd half. Aside from the hold, I scored him as party to 4 negative events: • (Q1, 15:00) He was bulled by McClendon for a pressure. • (Q2, 2:15) He was shed by McClendon who took down Forsett for a loss of 2 (penetration shared with Monroe). • (Q3, 8:46) He was bulled by Heyward for a pressure. • (Q3, 5:37) He made no attempt to block either of 2 delayed A-gap blitzers to allow pressure on Flacco. That’s a difficult night as a pass blocker. He did lead some sneaks effectively, but the Ravens had other failed opportunities in short yardage. He made 1 of 3 blocks in level 2 and had 3 pancakes. Scoring: 55 blocks, 4 missed, ½ penetration, 3 pressures, 1 holding, 42 points (.67 per play). I would give him the largest subjective adjustment (.06) of any Raven offensive lineman with the overall success in providing ATS as a unit and success on the sneaks, but that is still .04 short of the minimum passing grade. F. As you know, I highly recommend Pro Football Focus (“PFF”) as a site, but there seems to be a problem with his positive penalty score despite the hold and they also have him scored for no pressure events, which is just wrong. In case you did not know this about the PFF folks, they are committed to transparency and will research scoring discrepancies if you provide them specific citations. Zuttah’s game is the only one by any offensive lineman graded below a B this season. Yanda: It was another day at the office for Marshal, who made the Steelers’ best defender (Cam Heyward) look bad. He missed a cut on Cam Thomas (Q4, 12:01) that allowed Pierce’s run to be blown up for a loss of 1. I also charged him with half of the only QH allowed by the Ravens (Q3, 0:24) when he and Forsett were unable to negotiate the A-gap pressure. Yanda finished with 4 level-2 blocks and 1 pancake. As great as Lebeau has been as a DC, I have never liked the way he has concentrated a very high percentage of his front-3 snaps in just a few players. It worked with Aaron Smith, Brett Keisel, and Casey Hampton in their prime and controlling the total defensive play count. With the increased snap count from a suspect defense and increased use of zone blocking schemes, the Steelers are going to find out how ineffective even their best defensive lineman will be playing the same percentage of snaps. Scoring: 59 blocks, 2 missed, 1 penetration, ½ QH, 55.5 points (.88 per play). With a .06 adjustment for quality of opposition, that’s an A. Wagner: Rick gave some ground in the pocket, but I did not charge him with any pressure events. He had 5 blocks in level 2 and had 1 solo pancake. A good 2-play highlight sequence came beginning (Q4, 13:30). First, Pierce ran left for 10 yards, led by Monroe and Osemele, but Wagner took Heyward out of the play, then shadowed Shazier all the way to the left pylon. On the next play, he takes Yanda’s handoff of Heyward perfectly as the right side made a big push on Pierce’s 2-yard run (Q4, 12:44). Scoring: 59 blocks, 4 missed, 59 points (.94 per play). He gets a .04 adjustment for Worilds who would have been .07 or .08 last year before he decided to pull the rip cord on that life raft he’s wearing around his waist. A. Flacco had a rare inverted game where he actually performed better under pressure. He had Ample Time and Space (ATS) on 19 of 29 drop backs (66%), which is substantially better than his 50% average for 2010-13. Here’s a summary of Flacco’s pass plays both with and without pressure: While it’s nice to see Joe play well under pressure, he and the other skill position players underperformed the pass-blocking opportunities by approximately 29 yards. Having better numbers without ATS is very unusual and the only game (2010-13) Flacco had better yards per drop back on non-ATS plays, the opportunity set included the F-Bomb in the Divisional playoff at Denver (11.1 YPP). 17. Maybe as much as 2 games according to this: Ian Rappaport just said on NFLN that it's pretty much a given that Will Hills' suspension is going to get reduced right along with the wave of other guys. Ozzie got him for the middle of the season when his 6 game suspension was over and we'd really need him. He's one of the best safeties in the game when he's clean. Staying clean is a problem. Gotta give him an A for originality. When he was suspended for 6 games after testing positive, he said it was from second hand weed being smoked in a club that got in his system. Yea, sure. He better stay away from Deonte Thompson's stash, the stuff they found under the seat of the car he was in.
  18. That's what I said last week. Joe gave them the win with 6 mins left after how bad the offense was in the first half. Don't forget, it was the first game for it vs the div champs who beat us 34-14 in the last game last year. This offense was much better and should have won the opener vs Cinci. The offense is just getting started and Kubes will use more players like Torrey, JJ and Taliaferro as the season goes on and Joe gets comfortable with everyone. Right now he's comfortable with SR, Daniels and PItta which we called over the summer. We said Kubes uses his 2 TES a lot. Torrey still figured in the game as he took his man deep, same as JJ. That opened up the middle for the TEs and slot guy - SR. They can't cover everyone in this offense but JJ was wide open on one of those red zone attempts. Joe overthew the TE over the middle and JJ was wide open in the corner and once again Joe doesn't look around. He was locked in on his primary receiver who was covered and over threw him.
  19. How many times have we beaten the hated Squeelers by 20 points and people are bitching about it. Plus, some people don't know what they're watching. Once the long field isn't behind the defense, they bring everyone in tight. They put their beef up on the line and a lot of it stacking the box, the line, everything. It's difficult to run down there because there not enough room. Where Zuttah had one guy or no guys to block he has 2 or 3 guys. Look at the tape. He's pushed back on the QB sneak and Joe is knocked back. Couldn't even get a yard and he's a big dude. Same thing happened to Cinci last week. They should have had a half time lead of 28-0 but the defense toughened up once they had the shor field behind them. Tough to run inside. Tucker is a big part of this offense who iced the SB after beating Denver in OT during the POs. Would you rather have Billy Goat? I think not. Some of you should see what they're saying in Pissburgh. They sure wish they had this offense. They're saying their team was: out-scored out-coached out-drafted out-punched And that's for starters. They would gladly trade offenses at this point. A 2d year guy Brandon Williams pushed their Center and #1 pick Pouncey straight back into Big Jen causing him to miss the throw. Ngata had a big night. Ravens won the game in the trenches including the offense side of the trench with great blocking. Some fans just don't know that.
  20. We talked about it all summer and couldn't wait to see it. It laid a big egg in the opener but flew on all cylinders when we needed it the most vs the hated Squeelers and during a week of kaos surrounding the Ray Rice media blitz vs the organization. They controlled the lines on both sides of the ball and beat the Squeelers up bad, used their 2 TEs over the middle like we said they would and their WR - Steve Smith and a running game that got 181 yards, who needs Rice, over Wagner, our new RT. We have our bookends. Pierce gained 96 yards rushing on 22 totes and Forsett had a 40+ yard run for 56 yds overall. It's just getting started as Joe gets comfortable with his new weapons Smith and Daniels. http://www.csnbaltimore.com/blog/ravens-talk/kubiaks-offense-gets-gear-against-steelers
  21. Dismal track record? We have 4 starters from last year's draft - all contributing. Brandon Williams helped blow up the middle. KJ cleared out the entire left side of the end zone allowing for Daniels to be all alone for the TD. Elam played a new position, CB, while an unknown, Miles played Safety and they shut them out of the end zone. The running game got 181 yards over Wagner at RT in his 2d start and he did well last week. We finally got rid of Oher and we finally have our bookends. This years #1 pick, Mosley made a crunching hit causing a fumble and recovered the ball he knocked loose. A low round RB was the leading rusher in preseason in the NFL and is the 3rd RB on the team and will get more playing time as season goes on. Our #3 pick, Brooks a Safety had a big game last week. Then there's # 1 pick Upshaw from a couple of years ago who set the tone to tonight's hard hitting with a forced fumble plus one in SB 47. The Crimson Tide players did well and made Ozzie proud. Going further back, Ozzie won a SB ring trading fown for Pitta and Dickson. Pitta helped win the SB47 with a big TD and the game last night. In fact, he carried Pitt's #1 draft pick Shazier 11 yards down the field while getting a big first down. He carried him on his back. Shazier looked like a rag doll on the play and he was their #1 guy. Ozzie has more players still playing in the league than any other GM. Even his undrafted pickups are signed by other clubs when he's trying to sneak them to the practice squad like Sammy Samster getting picked up by the Dolphins this year and QB Derek Anderson years ago not to mention Priest Holmes leaving for free agency and becoming one of the greatest runners in NFL history - for KC. Ozzie hasn't missed in the draft yet except the Dwan Edwards draft and he still got Webb out of the Oher draft one of the best CBs in the game (we would have won last week had he played. He wouldnt have fallen down covering Green on the big TD) and if Biscuit is stupid enough to fire Oz 31 teams will knock on his door with open check books begging him to fill in the amount.
  22. Nobody said that on Sunday. What a difference 4 days makes - heh?
  23. TMZ - The Walter Concrite of low level information, ie, sleazy news. Did you see that Brad Pitt left Jennifer Anniston for Angeline? TMZ got it first.
  24. Is there still a game tomorrow night or has it been suspended too in the Squeelers favor?
