ExtremeRavens Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago LAS VEGAS (AP) — Cam Little of the Jacksonville Jaguars broke an NFL record by kicking a 68-yard field goal at the end of the first half against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. Justin Tucker had the previous record, a 66-yarder in 2021 that gave the Baltimore Ravens a 19-17 win over the Detroit Lions. While Tucker’s kick hit the crossbar, Little’s boot had plenty of room as it sailed through the uprights. Little came into the game having missed three of his last four kicks, including an extra-point attempt. But the Jaguars’ coaches insisted they had faith in the second-year pro, who hit a 70-yarder in the preseason. His previous career long was 59 yards on Nov. 17, 2024, against the Lions. Trailing 6-0, the Jaguars started at their own 31 with 28 seconds left in the half and drove 19 yards in three plays. Trevor Lawrence spiked the ball at midfield to set up Little for the record-breaking kick. Tucker’s 66-yard kick being topped isn’t a major surprise. Even Ravens rookie kicker Tyler Loop said earlier in the year he anticipated a record-breaking kick in 2025. “I think it’s coming,” Loop told The Baltimore Sun in September. “I wouldn’t be surprised.” Regardless of the reason for the improved length from kickers, Little’s boot puts him into the NFL history books and moves Tucker aside. Of course, the former Ravens kicker could soon try to break the record again. Tucker, who the Ravens released in the offseason after being accused of sexual assault by several Baltimore-area massage therapists, is suspended by the NFL through next week’s games for violating the league’s personal conduct policy. Baltimore is fine with its kicking situation, with Loop being a respectable 12 of 13 on field goal tries and 22 of 23 on extra point attempts. A few contenders, however, have struggled with their kicking games. The Rams and Packers are among projected Super Bowl contenders with lackluster kicking. They’re among the teams who could be looking for help in that department when Tucker becomes available. The Baltimore Sun’s staff contributed to this article. View the full article Quote
