  1. not sure if he was just being a stand up guy or if he was being honest... but Smith said that Int on the deep ball where he stopped was completely his fault. I Liked how Joe talked about how lonely it is being the guy throwing an interception when the offense is moving. Not sure I've ever heard him taking like that.

  2. Listening to NFL Network last night - Pat Kirwin and Jim Miller - and they talked about how teams have had success vs Oakland D.

They mentioned how Atlanta's O had huge success by running multiple TE sets against Oakland's D. It really openend up the passing game

for Ryan who had a super performance.

Isnt time for Trestman/Flacco to utilize our TEs ? Aside from the running game, I cant thing of an area that is more underutilized.

Time to get the big boys going !

but pita has more targets than anyone else on the team. how is that underutilizing a position?

  3. The defensive starting line did get pressure, consistantly, up the middle. Lawrence Guy (not the new Guy) was constantly in the back field getting pressure off the egde & or up the middle requiring double teams as the game went on. Davis got tv credit for a couple of tackles Guy actually made.

The offensive line looks solid, a good 7 maybe 8 deep.

The secondary, eh, Brees wasn't playing, but they still looked horrible at this point, no depth at all.

The line backers, including the starters, still cannot cover, still do not get enough depth in their drops because they bite too hard on play action..... At this point in their careers, they should all have learned this simple action.

Recievers look promissing, little seperation, thus all the passes to the backs. Nice to see the tight ends get a lot of work, they all had good days catching, running routes & blocking. Very happy with that group.

The starters played 2 series and didn't give up a first down. what trouble did the linebackers have covering?

  4. you have no idea weather Rice would've made either of those first downs and it's not even important actually. The first one was more Pierce fault than the Oline. He shouldn't have gone wide. and I think the second one we got. I have no idea how a play that close wasn't reviewed. he at the very least got back to the line of scrimmage and needing less than a yard, seems it would've been looked at.

my point was they stacked the box and Joe picked them apart. even though he was getting pressure and hit, he still had a very solid half.

  5. no one thinks what Ray did was right. but this is getting stupid. If he was anything but a football player. he wouldn't have lost close to a million dollars or any days at work. If I was dumb enough to slap or hit my wife and got put in a cell for the weekend. I'm not going to get punished Monday when I get to work.

  6. Joe really impressed me a lot in this game. I thought he stood tall as the pocket was collapsing and delivered some really nice passes.

Nice to see someone give Joe love. He's actually played very well this year. we've just had too many drops

  7. So, any thoughts on how long he'll be in the doghouse? Apparently a season's worth of it last year didn't change his attitude much - he quickly learned that "we need him" so he can do whatever he wants, right?

I want to pin this to the posts from last year where everyone's giving Harbs a hard time for holding him out too long.

    No easy solution.

He doesn't need to be in the doghouse. it's day one/two of training camp. he's a vet. as long as he's in shape for game one.. I don't see how it matters. I remember the days no player was in shape coming into camp.
