  1. damn, Eddie in the booth with Jim and Gary...
  2. I'm definitely down for this, especially now with the improved internet viewing (I think espn3.com has replaced the espn360.com that started way back in the 2002 world cup). I don't like the US's chances, against England, or making it out of group play, let alone advancing beyond... but you never know...
  3. I have a feeling the Flyers are gonna get medieval on the Blackhawks Wednesday...; it's all in. And all out.
  4. Holy crap now I feel EVEN OLDER... sike, what I found astounding is that, of the famous Metallica cover songs (like Am I Evil, Blitzkrieg, Breadfan, Last Caress/Green Hell, etc.) most of the songs by the original bands sound at least as good if not better (modulo the differences in time and technology) than metallica's versions. It's just a weird thing about cover tunes, if you know or at least have heard both versions, you have a better perspective. For instance, what about megadeth's version of Cooper's "No More Mr. Nice Guy" on that horrible movie Shocker? Bad movie, but not a bad rendition of the tune. On the other hand, Mustaine's lyrics on "These Boots" ... ugh...
  5. I had to take a class to spell and pronounce his name correctly... but... "Byfuglien" (?) was awesome, hammering Pronger, being around the net, contributing in every way he could... . Blackhawks are that much closer to their first cup in generations...
  6. looks to me this game had not to do with tempo but with determination. Ray lights out. Rondo crazy in the 4th. Pierce is one ugly mofo. sike; but he is, but the Celtics did take it to the Lakers tonight; lot of really bad calls by the ref (how they call charge on Kobe against Ray? that was bullshit) but anyway the celts did take it to the lakers.
  7. wasn't he at boy's latin, or gilman or something? maybe that was a while ago...; he would make a good coach, he has the right kind of temperament and enough ML experience. I've heard before that middle-infielders don't make as good coaches? any truth?
  8. look y'all WTF who cares we got a decent experienced kicker, which is a far f'n cry from what we had last year. chill...
  9. I think i've been turned by these guys... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1e0u11rgd9Q&feature=player_embedded
  10. Yes; speaking of entertaining, and in particular game 3, roughly half of the record VS. audience for game 3 were in either the Chicago or Philly area. But where were the other 1.7 million? hmmm... http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/playoffs/2010/news/story?id=5248681
  11. what a freak; he was doing well to keep the beat, but showing off too much got him off track. he also switched handedness a couple times, weird. I've played with some total spazzes for drummers before, but noone like that (even with the influence of narcotics et al)
  12. Here's a mathematical "What If" regarding Griffey's HR totals, adjusted for injuries; a divinely powerful number results. Stan Lee couldn't have scripted it better... http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?columnist=stark_jayson&id=5247355 Somehow, I completely either repressed or never knew that Bonds broke Aaron's record! When the hell did that happen? Wow, i've really not cared about baseball too much lately...
  13. Kudos to Philly, great win; Briere, Hartnell and Giroux were great tonight; this game was frenetic and generally entertaining, and now the series will be crazy in game 4, with the Flyers looking to tie it up at home. Chicago played well also; Philly was more crazed.
  14. okay, so he's like Stover but less reliable...
  15. Update... http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/37478734/ns/sports-baseball/
  16. Wow, Flyers are gonna get a goal on review, yet the fans were BOOING! when the play stopped and review was coming...philly phans are bizarre... edit: Hartnell gets credit for the goal, he's had a great game; this game has been pretty damn entertaining...
  17. closer now to a deal, he's in town... http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5243929
  18. What a great pass by Hartnell to Briere, Philly needed that to go up early in this game, down 2 games to 0 against the blackhawks. Let's see if the Flyers can take care of home ice...
  19. Not intentionally discounting BB, I just can't seem to remember him. Maybe cuz I find him forgettable.
  20. I think this sums him up pretty well, sans injuries... from http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/stats?playerId=2148 Seasonal Averages (per 162 games played) YEARS G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS 16.49 162 594 101 169 32 2 38 111 80 108 11 4 .284 .370 .538 .908 more the "sweet-swinger" like Palmeiro, not a power guy.
  21. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=5244661 Well I remember some dozen-or so years ago pundits talking that he would be the one to break 756 HRs, and ending his career with 630 and his injuries suggests what could have been... Aaron is safe for now, and probably for a long time from now. I was assuming that Griffey Jr. would retire a Mariner, the decision was past due by a few years I think, but better this way at "home".
  22. nnnhh-hnh-hnh-hnh (the sound a disgusted Lurch made on the Addams family series) I knew I recognized that nasally lisp...; yeah, they really are grasping... Actually, it's not a lisp, but that kind of exaggerated "s" that might as well be one
  23. Yeah, "A-Rod and the Yankees vs. A-Jones and the O's" is almost self-mockery, if it were from an honest, non-delusional sort, not the guys the O's have in PR and advertising; coming from them, it's simply sad.
  24. Correct me if I'm wrong........... and I hope I am...................... Am I hearing BRADY FREAKIN' ANDERSON doing commentary next to Gary Thorne??!!!
