I already announced this move a month ago. You're late to the party. EDIT: But Tebow will be long gone by the 3rd.
-
Well, the official times are actually in the 4.4 range, but Mays is still the fastest DB.
-
Taylor Mays just ran an unofficial 4.24 at over 6'3, 230... if his official time is anything close to that, he'll go top 15. Devin McCourty ran an unofficial 4.34. Patrick Robinson 4.42. Earl Thomas 4.53.
-
Well, we may have just made our draft pick, barring tomorrow's 40-times... Bench press results: Joe Haden - 18 reps Devin McCourty - 16 reps Taylor Mays - 24 Reps Earl Thomas - 21 reps Eric Berry - 19 Reps Kyle Wilson - 25 Reps. If he runs a 4.4, he's ours.

If ever there was a time when we could afford to sign a receiver to a big team, it's now. We didn't have to use the franchise tag this year, our QB isn't making Matt-Ryan-type money because he wasn't a top 10 pick, and our big-time OT is making #23-pick money. Sure, we're paying a few guys like Ray, Suggs, and Foxworth, but for the most part, we don't have any huge contracts on our roster, thanks to all of our draft-picks being late over the years. McGahee maybe?
-
You don't think Boldin is worth a 2nd? Because I think he is, easily. Where else are we going to get such a proven, reliable receiver, with good hands, who can get open, and take it the distance on any play? You talked about Flacco getting comfortable with his receivers over the middle...they don't make 'em much tougher than this guy. And the other reason I'd bring Boldin in now is because Reed, Lewis, Mason, McGahee, and Heap will be gone in two years when Boldin turns 30. That gives us every reason to grab a guy to help us win now. A 2nd-round receiver might put up 800 yds, 7 TD, and we'd call that a good year. Anything less than 1300 and 8 from Boldin would be a disappointment.
-
Is that a good thing or a bad thing?
-
You mean the fact that they have no RB's for next year concerns you?
-
I'm more concerned with the 4.6 than the other stuff. If he ran a 4.3, none of that would matter.
-
Well then clearly they're worth that. Let's sign them both.
-
A sub-5'11 WR with 4.3 speed is worlds different from a 5'10 guy with 4.5 speed. Tate has all of the big-play moves...former RB who knows how to break tackles... yeah, I wouldn't be mad about having Tate in our lineup. He'll be a star.
-
Still faster than Boldin's 4.7.

To me, Thomas looks like a top 15 pick, so I definitely wouldn't have any problem with us taking him at #25. Who knows...he might not even be there for us when we go on the clock (and if he is, it may only be because of the injury). The guy is an absolute freak athletically, showing good speed, hands, and overall playmaking ability. If you told me he was the #1 receiver in the draft, I wouldn't be able to prove you wrong with video evidence. The only negatives I've heard about the guy had to do with his system, but I've also heard those same arguments flipped around and used as proof of why he is so good...because he produced amazing numbers in a run-first offense.

Drunk-driving isn't a joke. Shame on you guys for making light of such a serious topic.

I like all of them, as it turns out. Even Golden Tate is starting to grow on me... his after-the-catch moves are ridiculous. Just like everyone, I'm scared-to-death of "YAC" guys because that was what Clayton was supposed to do well, and because he's only 5'10, and I'm not saying we should draft him in the first round, or that he'll still be there in the 2nd. All I'm saying is that he could end up being a big-time playmaker in the NFL, possibly in a Reggie-Bush-style role. A Reggie-type weapon in the 2nd would be a steal. As for the rest... We don't have a shot at getting Bryant, and I'll be surprised if one of the other guys doesn't go before we pick also (especially if they put up sub-4.4 40's) We know we'll probably have a shot at either Benn or Thomas in the first, but there could be a better value at that pick (Kyle Wilson? Gresham? One of the DE's falling?) And who knows what will happen between the time we pick and our 2nd-rounder...

Notable WR's: Dez Bryant 6'2, 225, 9 3/4" hands Arrelious Benn 6'1, 219, 9 3/8" Demaryius Thomas 6'3 1/4, 224, 10 1/2" Golden Tate 5'10 1/4, 199, 9 1/4" Brandon LaFell 6'2 1/2, 211, 8 3/4"

Marshall would not only be significantly more costly, but plays for an AFC rival, which means it would be much tougher to acquire him. Boldin is the perfect guy for us, and for a 2nd and a conditional pick next year, you have to do it.
-
My God, you'll jump on every word a person says, won't you? The "maybe" wasn't the subject of the sentence. I could have said "It may be a big deal, but..." And other than that, you're just arguing in circles. Not murder, not a stop sign, everyone makes mistakes, shame on you... blah, blah, blah. Every one of these things is true; let's move on.
-
Right, that was the headline. But I'm sure we're hoping he'll help also help develop the rest of our pass-rushers (or linebackers) as well.
-
I guess we know who's going #21 to the Bengals... And what's with Alabama's conditioning program?
-
Maybe it's a "big deal", but the courts take things like "intent" into account. I know, how stupid, right?
-
Can't wait to see this guy working with Suggs and Graham...
-
*shrug* Disagreement is half the fun of sports. The games only last for 16 hours a year. (And 20 if you're lucky.)

The coaching staff decided that the 5'10 guys were our two best receivers; I (and their on-field production) certainly didn't. The other guys (Washington, Williams, Harper, etc.) all have decent size. Just because Clayton can't get separation from a defender doesn't mean it's impossible for a 5'10 guy to do so... maybe he's just not very good. And I said that DE's CAN take a few years to develop. Yes, they can have some production as rookies, notching sacks here and there, but that by no means means they are dominating at their position. Just like rookie QB's can throw touchdowns, you have to count their interceptions against them as well. Maybe Suggs got 12 sacks as a rookie, but was he ever dominant? To this day, even? I'd bet if you broke it down year by year, the play-by-play production of the pass-rushers increased a lot in years 2 and 3. Early on, a lot of guys only go in for known pass-rush situations.
