  1. I feel a bit sorry for him. He was never the same after Ngata near snapped him in 2.
  2. Sounds like your coach is Yoda. Do or do not. There is no try.
  3. Same old same old from the D. Common denominator is Dean Pees as DC. Get someone that can design a pass rush/blitz and see if things look better. Or we can continue to watch our D-Linemen run straight ahead into the O-Line and put zero pressure on the QB. When our LBs blitz they do exactly the same. They run straight into an O-lineman and get stonewalled.
  4. That's just it in a nut shell. What ever metric we are using to evaluate and grade WRs isn't working. None of the guys have come in here and developed. Any year we need a WR we would be better served trading for a proven vet. Over the last 10 years the WRs that have performed the best have been Derrick Mason (Was a UFA), Anquan Boldin (Traded 3rd and 5th round picks) and Steve Smith (was a cap casualty release by the Panthers). If we are poor at evaluating WRs in the draft then why don't we trade picks for the proven vets who seem to do well when they come here?
  5. Jermaine Lewis - 5th round pick. Nobody of note drafted after him. Was a decent return man and a big part of our 1st Superbowl team. I would say this is a good 5th round pick at WR/KR. James Roe - 6th round pick. Did nothing. Out of the league in 3 years. Patrick Johnson - 2nd round pick. 2 notable WRs drafted within a round after PJ were Joe Jurevicius and Hines Ward. Major bust here. Brandon Stokley - 4th round pick. Had a pretty good career for a 4th round pick but his notable years were spent away from Baltimore. Bust for us but not a bust overall. Travis Taylor - Major bust at #10 overall but no one else taken after him did anything. Plaxico Burress went a couple picks earlier and had a good career. There were some decent WRs drafted from the late 3rd round on in that draft. Ron Johnson - 4th round pick. Bust but no one taken in the next couple of rounds at WR did anything either. Javin Hunter - 6th round pick. Did nothing and nobody of note at WR taken after him. Devard Darling - 3rd round pick. Bust. Could have had Jerricho Cotchery who has had a servicable career for a 3rd round pick. Wasn't much else on offer that year. Derek Abney - 7th round pick. Never made the team. Mark Clayton - 1st round pick. Bust. Could have had Roddy White! Demetrius Williams - 4th round pick. Showed flashes for a couple of seasons but never developed. Bust. Could have had Brandon Marshall who went a dozen picks later. Yamon Figurs ( drafted in 3rd and traded a 2nd for it) - Bust. Could have had James Jones who had a pretty good career. Other servicable 3rd round picks that year include Laurent Robinson and Mike Sims-Walker. Marcus Smith - 4th round pick. Did nothing in 3 years and then out of football. Only WR of note taken later was Josh Morgan in the 6th who has had a pretty decent career. Justin Harper - 7th round pick. Did nothing in 3 year and is a bust because we could have had Stevie Johnson who has had a good career most notably with the Bills. David Reed - 5th round pick. Bust. Could have had Antonio Brown or even Riley Cooper. Torrey Smith - 2nd round pick. Has had a good career but never developed his game beyond running the 9. Probably the first receiver that we have drafted that has done anything and he doesn't get passed his rookie contract. That said he wasn't worth the contract he got in the end. Could have had Randall Cobb. Tandon Doss - 4th round pick. Bust but only Denarius Moore showed anything from later in that draft. Tommy Streeter - 6th round pick. Has bounced around the league. Wouldn't say bust but his best year was after he left Baltimore. Aaron Mellette - 7th round pick. Only lasted a year. No one of note taken after him. Michael Campanaro - 7th round pick. I like him but he can't stay on the field. Breshad Perriman - 1st round pick. Injured, hasn't played a down. A little too early to call a bust. Dorial Green Beckham has the potential to be a star. Devin Funchess showed up for the Panthers last year. Tyler Lockett has looked good in Seattle. Perriman needs a first season like those guys or he teeters on the brink of being a bust. Darren Waller - Has potential but I think is being moved to TE? While we have had no success it's not as if the WRs taken after our picks have consistently turned out to be great. Sure there are always going to be misses but the % of hits post our pick is very low.
  6. I don't think there is any comparison between Oher and Stanley. They maybe have similar builds but Stanley has 2 really important things going for him. His arm length is 35 5/8" versus 33 1/2 for Oher. That is a big difference but probably the key difference is the grey matter between the ears. Oher was as dumb as a rock whereas Stanley is very intelligent. That combo has given me higher hopes for Stanley.
  7. Alexander, Jack, Ogbah, Spence, Dodd, Correa are some interesting players available at the top of the 2nd. The last 4 I have listed are all pass rushers. I would be fine with any of Alexander, Jack or Spence.
  8. NFL Network had Tunsil falling straight away after the release of the pic. They also said that the Ravens removed him entirely from their draft board. Just too many red flags to ignore. Let someone else take the risk. They also said Stanley has almost 36" arms! That's perfect for a LT prospect. Match that with his fast feet and I'm starting to like the pick more and more. I wasn't as high on him before but he is a solid pick. Now we need a CB and pass rusher with the next couple of picks.
  9. The Panthers weren't offering $14m per year. The franchise tag they pulled was $14m for the year but IIRC the Panthers were only offering $11 or $12m per year. I don't know what they were offering guaranteed but the Redskins have also guaranteed $50m which is a lot for a CB. He's getting paid $50m no matter what happens unless he does something stupid and gets arrested. The Panthers have done him a favor by releasing him.
  10. Ideal scenario is someone trades up to 3 with the chargers for Lynch which will leave us with one of Ramsey/Tunsil/Buckner at 6. I hope we get either Ramsey or Tunsil. Both fill a need as well as being the top 2 players in this draft IMO.
  11. Is it though. I remember when we traded Boldin for a 5th and everyone was WTF Ozzie has lost his mind. Many of us saw it as getting something for nothing. Could you imagine what the reaction would have been if we had just cut Boldin?
  12. And that's where we disagree DC. The UK system still doesn't fund all treatments and regularly rations life saving drugs or doesn't provide them full stop because they are "too expensive". It's great that we have a free at the point of contact service but there are so many other failings. At the end of the day I think a marriage of both systems is probably the best solution but what that marriage entails is the million dollar question.
  13. Trust me, a paid for system isn't much better. Our waiting lists for many operations are as long as the Florida coastline. It almost forces you to put your hand in your pocket and go privately. For those fortunate enough to have taken private health insurance then great you get sorted in no time at all. For everyone else that has paid their taxes thinking they were covered only to find that operation they need to fix a knee or a hip won't happen for 18 months its tough shit, hope the pain isn't too bad. I'm afraid the perfect system only exists in some dystopian future.
  14. Something like that Papa. Even if the knee was fine his play never recovered. Hits like that can get in your head and that appears to be what happened.
  15. He was never the same after Ngata broke him in 2.
  16. We had to study Nazi Germany for a major part of our history exams in school and Lizzy is correct. Hitler did a lot of good things for Germany. If he and many of his Nazi lieutenants hadn't been evil bastards then there is every chance Germany would have become a Superpower without shedding an ounce of blood. I can understand what she is trying to say but she is tripping all over her words.
  17. I really hope they don't kill Abraham. He was good in the books and it would be a real shame to kill one of the better characters. They have done nothing with Glenn since they brought him back from the dead. I bet he gets it before the season ends. I also think the priest is a goner.
  18. I do follow American politics as what happens with you guys does effect the rest of the world and especially as the UK/Ireland have such close ties with the US. Normally I can see a good candidate and usually you guys come through and vote in the right person. This time round I can't help but feel underwhelmed by all candidates. Seriously, is this lot the best you can come up with? God help us all.
  19. $12m per year for a guard. Holy cha-ching Batman.
  20. Myles probably hasn't been talked about very much because he missed most of the season with a knee injury but he appears to be healing very fast from that hence the talk about him after the combine has ramped up a little. He has a little Adalius Thomas to his game in that you can line him up all over the field and he will do a good job for you.
  21. This is when the books get really good so let's hope the show does the books justice.
  22. Ozzie will always give Bama boys a shot.
  23. A player I would love to have in the 2nd round is Sua Cravens from USC. He is projected to go anywhere from late 1st to mid 2nd round. He is a versatile athlete that we can line up at LB to cover TEs in the pass game and he is versatile enough to line up as a SS in the run game. I'm not sure he is fast enough to line up as an everydown SS and the quicker RBs might just be too much for him 1 on 1 but I think he can cover just about any TE in the league and we have been getting killed by TEs lately. He is a team captain and great character kid. We had great success drafting our first player from USC last year in Buck Allen and I would be really happy if we make Sua the 2nd kid drafted from USC.
  24. Every team will be crashing their bus into the police now before the big game.
  25. FYI, Fitzgerald Toussaint was signed as an UDFA. Just another in a long list of Ozzie finds in the UDFA pool.
