  1. Another silver lining: We could have drafted Kyle Wilson for our "weak" secondary. I think we dodged a bullet there.
  2. The rule is garbage. If the ground can't cause a fumble then why should it be able to negate a catch? Stupid ass rule.
  3. Yeah the no huddle is a weapon against Rex's D. Without the substitutions those crazy blitzes will get picked up as the D gets tired. If we get Flacco in a rhytm early then we can beat the Jets easily. If the Jets get a few quick 3 and outs in the 1st half and really get the crowd into it then we will be in trouble.
  4. That was a pretty funny read BallTMore. I near spit my coffee out reading this line:
  5. How did Miami agree? They cut him and we signed him as a free agent to carry a clipboard. He was familiar with Cam's system hence we signed him but even that couldn't save him once we signed Bulger. Washington signed him because there wasn't a lot left out there and McNabb is already hurt so they needed someone to suit up as a backup QB for a couple of weeks.
  6. Why does he even need a helmet. There must be enough padding there already.
  7. I don't see what the problem is. We would have been cutting Beck anyway once camp was over. We at least tried to get a CB for him and it didn't work out. Big deal, move on. That is what the Ravens did and now they traded for another CB. I doubt the Seahawks would have wanted Beck for Wilson anyway.
  8. Love the move. I wanted us to draft him a couple of years back but he was gone before our pick in the 2nd round and we traded back instead. Really nice pick up. I hope we can extend his deal beyond this season. I would still like to see us draft a bigger more physical corner in 2011 though. All our guys seem to be small speedsters but we don't have anyone that can match up to the bigger receivers in the league.
  9. I love Ed Reed. There is not a better play maker in any secondary in the NFL. I also don't buy the freelancing tag either. What makes Ed Reed so great is he watches so much film and picks up on so many tendencies that he almost knows were to go before the QB. That said, just like anyone who tries to read another person, he can get caught out with a bluff. Still, ask any QB and the first thing he does is look to find where Ed Reed has lined up. That is what elevates a player above his peers. When the offense has to account for you on any given play. I remember reading a little tid bit from Carson Palmer when he was torching the Ravens through the air for a few games before his injuries. He talked about how you could bait Ed Reed, catch him out of position and complete passes on the Ravens because of it. I defintely believe that is true but I also believe that is the fault of the pass rush rather than of Ed Reed. If the QB doesn't have time to bait Ed Reed then Ed is going to make a hell of a lot of plays against you. How many times have we seen a pressured QB get rid of the ball right into the hands of Ed? Without looking up all Ed's INTs and watching the replays I bet there is a direct correlation between the pressure and Ed's stats. The performance of the secondary as a whole is the direct result of the pressure that the front 4 or 5 put on the QB. That is why the Ravens thought there was better value in taking a pass rusher over reaching for a CB in the last draft. Even though that pass rusher won't see the field I still liked the pick.
  10. Apparently he hasn't officially retired and is basically looking for more money guaranteed. He is "only" on $13mill for the season but wants a piece of what Sam Bradford got ($50mill guaranteed)
  11. What happens if he doesn't recover quickly enough and the Ravens don't offer him a contract? Does he sit out the season and go back into the draft? Does he become a free agent? Can he still sign for the Ravens when he has recovered?
  12. I now believe that Russell is the biggest bust of all time. At least Leaf waited a decade before he started getting busted by the law but Russell still had a slim chance of an NFL career.
  13. ....however, sometimes it is better to be in the office working with your colleagues and building up a good team chemistry in order for things to work better/more efficiently in the future. There are 2 sides to every coin. Personally, I would have liked to see him turn up to at least half the OTAs. They are less about working out than they are about learning and growing as a team.
  14. Wow, the world cup has come alive now. Great performances are being put in now with Argentina and Germany looking good and some really bad refereeing decisions being made that creates a great talking point. People are going mad about the non use of video technology and how the idiot in charge of FIFA needs to get his head out of his arse and sort it out. I can't wait for the Spain Portugal game. Should be one of the best last 16 ties.
  15. Has there been any damage done to the West Coast of Florida around Tampa? I was planning on spending a couple of days around Clearwater when I am over for vacation but I don't want to waste my time if the place is being hit with Oil.
  16. In our score predictor in work I have the US backed to win 1-0 against Ghana. However, I like what I have saw from Uruguay and while that is a winnable game for the US should they beat Ghana I will be backing Uruguay. Now watch South Korea go and beat Uruguay and throw a spanner in the works.
  17. I'm hoping Kindle realises he is in one of the best situations he could have possibly found himself in through the draft. He should sign his slotted contract and realise that the Ravens will pay him if he proves his worth on the field. Only question is, do the Ravens give him a 5 year deal or ink him to the standard 3 year deal?
  18. lol, there goes the Italians out at the Group Stage. I don't think either the defending champion or the beaten finalists from the last world cup have ever gone out so early before.

    US Open

Did any of you watch the US Open? I would like to say I knew the winner Graeme McDowell better but we did grow up in the same small town and he was a few years ahead of me in school. His brother was the same year as me and was also a good golfer back then. It's great to have another major winner from N.Ireland after such a long wait since Fred Daly won the Open way back before my time.
  20. How can they call for "Respect" to refs when they are making blunders all over the place. The USA were definitely robbed and some of the sending offs have been ridiculous. The holding from corners and other set pieces has been ridiculous as well. It seems that you can't touch a player anywhere else on the pitch without a free kick being given but once there is a corner or free kick being put into the box then it becomes standard to have a wrestling match with your opponent. Some of the games have been great to watch though. Brazil look good. Germany are about what I expected from such a young side. They will get through but I could easily seeing a much more experienced side frustrating them in the 2nd round or quarter finals. Argentina look good in spite of their coach and its funny to see the French self destruct. The team I have been most impressed with so far has been Mexico. They really look like a well balanced team and have a great combo of pace, skill and technique going for them. I could see them "upsetting" a few teams to make the Semis. As for England, they look poor. If they turn it round in their last group game I could actually see them be spurred on to great things but Rooney just doesn't look the same player before he got the injury late in the season and Gerrard is being played out of position but still looks a class act. That donkey Heskey needs a good kick in the ass (see what I did there ). I'm looking forward the final group games for the excitement to really begin.
  21. Yeah they were robbed by those onion smelling, garlic wearing surrender monkeys from across the Channel when Thierry Henry handled the ball. FIFA either have to get video replays installed for games or do something about all the cheating.
  22. HaHa, his reaction is priceless. Way to go Woody.
  23. Unfortunately you did your math wrong. The kick off is made from the 30 yard line. 20 yards to half way and then another 50 yards to the goal line = 70 yards. Therefore and average kick off of 63.3 yards places the ball just over the 7 yard line or at 6.7 yards to be precise.
  24. Apparently the union will only act if 2 or more players complain. My bet would be Gaither and Troy "I would crawl on my hands and knees to Cleveland and then be too tired to practice when I have to crawl back again" Smith.
