thesteelhurtin replied to thesteelhurtin's topic in Pittsburgh Steelers
Hey I'm going off his performance tonight having no practice and picking up 30 yards on 8 carries with a 15 yarder called back due to a hold ten yards behind the play -

Well tonight Jones looks to be a great pick up for what the Steelers gave up. Maybe he just needed a change of scenery -

They have a stable of different backs that all bring something to the table. He wasn't brought here to be the starter but a specialist. I still have faith in Dwyer until bell gets back. A variety of backs gives us a lot of different things we can do. -
The browns still fill their stadium

When heathy he is a legitimate nfl back who has a 4.8 ypc average and is a one cut back perfect for our zone blocking scheme. He is better the the back yinz got for reed. -
the packers at 14 are you kidding me
-
yeah it does but at the same time some of the teams ahead of them shouldnt be there. The saints the pats and a some others. When the pats sucked their stadium was not full and like i said the aints almost got moved
-
yeah i dont know what the hell is going on with that.

Attendance and tickets sold are a different story. Some people just don't want to deal with the weather we get towards the end of the year. I went to the Afcn championship game in 08 ands the -18 wind chill was miserable.
-
They traded olb robinson for felix jones. while he isn't a starter he will be depth and make the stable even more versitile. Robinson was an udfa who has some upside but hasnt looked this year like he did last year and with the emergence of alan baxter was expendable.

3.2 ypc

It is the preseason and can get better but so far I wouldn't say your running game is "as usual".
-
Yinz getting worried about your running game also flacco has thrown 4 picks in 3 games.
-
No surgery for bell the injury isn't as bad as it was first thought. I would still hold him out until after the bye though.
-
Yeah that puts him back week 4 but the steelers won't dress him until week 6 because our bye is week 5. That's fine the other three will do just fine and we will have fresh legs coming in week 6. I just don't understand why thus team can't stay healthy.

The steelers have a very diverse backfield with Bell, Dwyer, Red, and LSH. Heck behind the ones LSH ran all over the giants. I'm loving the new run blocking scheme hating the pass.
-
Not behind the starters it didn't. Behind the starters Dwyer was around 7. When we brought in udfa Alexander he was only getting about a yard

The Steelers running game looks very good only problem is I think the line only worked on run blocking. The puck Ben threw was a great play by Kerrigan. The steelers old and slow defense hasn't skipped a beat and our other starting corner is almost ready to go. Last preseason the starters didn't score a td all preseason and before Ben went down the offense was rolling. Other the the runs the passing game is very vanilla right now. Ben looked good when he had time and the only reason he had time was he created it. There were some positives in that game. Three of our rookies looked great. Jones is the real deal, Wheaton is a better all around wr then wallace, and Thomas will lay you out. Bell has a mid foot sprain and should be ready to go come the regular season. Also troy and Woodley look like their old selves. I fully expect the steelers to have the number 1 defense again this year. They also caused a bunch of turnovers. The oline is absolutely the weak link when it comes to the passing game. They are good in the running game as both games now whoever got the most carries behind them averaged over 6 yards a carry. We may see the steelers of old this year with them running the ball 35 times a game due to the oline. The biggest negatives were the line and playing undisciplined football. I'm hoping that a good olinemen gets cut at the final cuts because right now the tackles scare the hell out of me. Adams is a good RT but not a LT I hope they move him back.

The packers are owned by green bay. Back then teams folded all the time due to not having the money to support the team. Western PA loves football it's a passion there and always has been. The first pro games ever were in Pittsburgh and some of the rooneys actually played in it. Everyone in the town goes to the local high school games tailgating included.
-
You are way off they have sold out every game since 72. They have the second longest streak behind the packers.
-
They didn't sell out like they do now but they were still very much supported. If they weren't they would have folded due to the rooneys not having the money of other owners. I mean the saints almost got moved out of new Orleans.
-
this is dumb and wrong. Do they not remember the aints playing in half empty stadiums and bags on their heads. The steelers have sold out every game since the 70s.
