  1. Oh wow, great find. Whole different deal with a base of 25 as opposed to 35! Totally fine with incentives pushing the pay that high but was concerned we gave him so much in base. Absolute steal at $5 Million per, great work Oz... Who would rather have Kruger at $8 Million a year?
  2. Torrey is a smart kid, let's hope he turns into a leader and a longtime Raven.
  3. That's what I'm thinking, but are we really paying a guy that kind of money to be a pass-rushing down player? You wouldn't think so IMO. I'm not sold on this move personally, would've rather brought in Harrison for $2 Million or somebody at that price range. Just a ton of money committed to pash-rushers now.
  4. They pay it out this year but the cap hit is equal over the length of his contract. Basically if he's only 2.5 this year he's about $8 Million a year the next 4.
  5. @billbarnwell: Dumervil deal for Ravens the opportunity benefit of dumping Boldin, not overpaying for Ellerbe. Saved for a rainy day and it came early.” “@AdamSchefter: Elvis Dumervil got $1 mil base salary this season, plus $7.5 million signing bonus. He makes $8.5 mil this year, with cap number at $2.5 m.” Cap number at 2.5 is how we are affording him this year. Gonna have to restructure Suggs/Ngata long term though. I love Dumervil but this move is just interesting. We really had the starter opposite Suggs already in Upshaw, and typically that was a run-stuffer on the other side... We've never had two pass-rushing studs on the ends of the 3-4 like this.
  6. Would love Elvis but also don't see how we make him fit. With Flacco's cap hit jumping to $15 Million next year (http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/baltimore-ravens/cap-hit/2014/) we just don't have space. We'll also have to resign Oher and he should be getting $6 or 7 per I'm guessing.
  7. If Urlacher is a big upgrade on the cheapest guy we can bring in (basically $1 Million) than spending Twice as much for Four times the play/leadership is an easy decision.
  8. Woodson may be expensive ($4-5 Million) but Urlacher is going to get $2 Million a year. There aren't many teams with money left looking for vets right now. The big money has already been spent.
  9. Fail by the Orioles as I assume fans there in Baltimore are a bit angry, but I don't really see why it's such a big deal.
  10. Obviously I'd rather have Dumervil too, but he is the 'great' player you mention. The guys I mention are more hole-fillers than great players. I think you're thinking backwards here.
  11. I like that we're going after Dumervil, as he and Suggs would provide an unreal pass rush, but at the same time I'm not sold its the smart move given our cap situation. I'd rather wait out the DE situation, as we could probably end up with Abraham or Umenyiora for only $2 Mil a year as opposed to the $5 or 6 we'll have to give Dumervil. We could use that savings to nab Urlacher, Woodson, Huff, etc. There's a lot of veterans out there that can fill the holes we have for cheap, but not if we give it all away to Elvis.
  12. I was hearing offered 2 years 8 mil. Apparently his Texans deal is a maximum of 3 years 15 mil. Not sure what the base salaries are.
  13. Will miss him but he wasn't worth the big money he wanted anymore. Thanks for the memories Ed.
  14. Wow. Awesome. I missed this news somehow, should get much bigger coverage. Should be the same next year haha
  15. In Steels defense I think our run game plan involves chops a lot more often when we face the Steelers, I definitely don't see it happen that often though overall.
  16. Dumervil is going to be getting $7 Million or so a year in this market, and might be willing to take $6 to come to a team like the Ravens, so I wouldn't rule it out yet. Key for us is finalizing the Anquan deal and freeing up his salary. According to this http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/baltimore-ravens/cap-hit/ (which has Boldin's salary gone) we've got 11 Million in room.
  17. Short-term memory bias at its finest from Crav.
  18. Don't jump to that. Depth is always a great thing on the D-Line, and last year we were really lacking. Canty is a 3/4 DE who can play DT in a pass-rushing situation and Spears is simply a DE. We were awful against the run last year and need depth. Maybe this signals Ngata back to NT and Cody as his backup a bit more though.
  19. Boldin isn't taking his physical till next week so we're actually forced to wait a bit on some signings. I think that is for the better though.
  20. Really revamping the front-line with versatile players who were former studs. Love the work up there. Focus on the line and the linebackers don't matter. http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/ravens-insider/bal-ravens-looking-closely-at-marcus-spears-sources-say-20130315,0,7183234.story @JasonLaCanfora: It's a 2ys, $3.55M deal for Marcus Spears and the Ravens Another great contract. Keep it up Oz.
  21. No way in this market any team is giving him big money and a 2nd round pick.
  22. Tom Zbikowski just got the ax from Indy following their LaRon Landry signing. I'd like bringing him back. Nice safety depth at both spots who will probably come for about $1 Million.
  23. The problem to me is if the guy is THAT big of locker room problem you usually would have heard more about it. When he is that solid of a player and you only gain $1 Million by cutting him I don't think he was big enough of a diva to make that worth it. We will see I guess.
  24. Good point. Not sure if the extension would've started last year or not.
