  1. I don't think McKinnie will be a bum if we can get him on another 1 year deal. Thank god the rest of the market wisened up and no one gave him a decent multi-year deal, I fully expected him to be out of our price range. At this point, they're going to draft a versatile-LT type in the 3rd or 4th round and bring McKinnie back for another.
  2. It is most definitely on ESPN on Thursday and Friday night at least.
  3. I don't understand the incentive effect on the cap. If he reaches the incentives do those not count against the cap? If not, why isn't every contract heavily-incentive based... I understand the players would rather have the guaranteed money, but you'd think there would be more incentives.
  4. Cody fell to us in the draft after we traded back though, we could've taken him with our 1st rounder and people wouldn't have said it was a reach. We also were in need of a NT, and Cody actually played really well in his first year before stumbling last year. I think this is a great move, allows us to go BPA with our 1st rounder whereas before we were probably set to reach for a MLB.
  5. http://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/article-1/Report-Rolando-McClain-Says-He%E2%80%99s-Signing-1-Year-Deal-With-Ravens/bf6241ea-e5ba-4b58-82e1-081264d132ca Looks to be official soon. Actually sad this is only a 1 year deal. Was hoping we could get him cheap (with low guarantees) for a few years so if he bounces back we wouldn't have to pay him market value.
  6. Huff is far from a bust... Been one of the better safety's in the league for awhile whilst playing on a team in disarray. McClain also went for 99 tackles and 5 sacks in 2011 so he has shown some potential. This was very interesting to me: Michael Huff @Huffy247Love it RT @AdamSchefter Former Raiders LB Rolando McClain is nearing deal with Ravens.
  7. As many of us expected, we are about to finalize with McClain. RE https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/321962185330921473 Definitely a good move IMO. Most likely a minimum contract with some high upside.
  8. Absolutely embarrassing what the elder Unitas children are saying about Joe. The guy is going to throw a couple passes as their father while in his jersey, who cares?
  9. Exactly that last line. That dead money is usually (and in this case) the signing bonus, which if he played out the contract would be spread out evenly over the 6 years but if you cut him then whatever amount of that that was 'spread out' that hasn't been 'paid' yet counts as dead money.
  10. Good move, he had zero shot at playing time on the line. Why not see what he can do at Linebacker?
  11. The Colts only took 10 Million from Manning and had a terrible roster, much different situation IMO unless our team becomes awful over the next 3 years. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/07/cutting-peyton-gives-colts-16-million-in-dead-money/
  12. If Suggs returns to 75% form than his fair value is $8 Million, I'd say that's a safe bet and that we don't end up cutting him. $25 Million in dead money would be unheard of and absolutely cripple the team, there is absolutely ZERO chance they cut him if that is the penalty. As a result, Joe has all the leverage in the world going into negotiations in 3 years. The only thing the contract succeeded in was getting him at a fair price for the first 3 years. After those, we are in bad shape pretty much whatever happens.
  13. I'm fairly certain that we would take a 4.6 Million cap hit for releasing Suggs' before 2014 (based on spotrac and russelstreetsports). That's a big hit to take but perhaps not if he completely busts next year and cutting him could save us 7.5 Million. We really don't have a ton of leverage though imo. In addition, Joe's is a 3-year deal because we HAVE to restructure, not because we have leverage in the last 3 years. If we cut him after the 3rd year we would be set with $25 million in dead money in year 4, again little to no leverage in renegotiation's. http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/baltimore-ravens/joe-flacco/
  14. As previously stated, these two are the key to the Ravens' next few years. We don't have an easy way out of the money we owe them, just have to hope they play up to their contracts as they used to prior to these injuries.
  15. Another key to the Dumervil and Huff signings, both guys were released by their teams and thus do not count in the compensatory draft math. With the big money Ellerbe, Kruger, and Cary got we should be seeing a 4th and 5th rounder again next year Those extra picks are a big value.
  16. Would've loved this but latest mocks I read the other day all had him going before pick 22 or so. Rose up the draft boards
  17. With this defensive line I could line up at MLB and make some plays haha. One of the 'studs' in this draft is gonna fall to us in the 1st round and Oz will do his thing and take Best Player Available.
  18. We had about 5 Million in space before this move I believe, b/c of the Rule of 51 that someone discussed in another thread. Assuming we are giving him only $1 Mil this year and more later, as usual. Unreal, had no idea Huff played CB all year last year or was THAT good 2 years ago. Loved him coming out of the draft but haven't followed him lately, what a pickup. His versatility is huge for us so we can draft the best safety overall, not have to try and target a SS or FS specifically, and also love the ability to play CB with Smith and Webb potentially 'injury-prone' Speaking of former Raiders, I would really like DHB on a 1 year deal.
  19. RE https://twitter.com/Ravens/status/316949191651905536 RE https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/316953126697566209 3 years total of $6 Million. Another brilliant move. In Oz We Trust.
  20. Both were terrible last year, but who knows how much was related to injuries, you can't really tell. Problem is we can't cut Haloti after this year, it would result in $15 million in dead money. There really aren't many options with him. You can try and extend him and push the money over more years but either way you're going to have to ask for a huge paycut. We just need to hope Ngata and Suggs come back to their Top 5 player status of 2 years ago.
  21. Agreed, assuming they draft well at ILB and Safety. It's a little too early to say for sure, but I've always been a believer that it all starts up front, so I'm loving the overall direction we have taken with the defense.
  22. I actually would really love taking a chance on the Honey Badger but is he really going near the 1st round? That reminds me of how sad I am we didn't take a chance on Burfict last year
  23. I don't think this is a dream team, but Jones has to love it. Ton's of studs around him, he wont be getting any attention from defenses.
  24. McKinnie is seeing a very bare market out there, definitely room for us to bring him back for 2 Million or so this year on another 1 year deal. With 12 picks and Oher's contract up next year I wouldn't be surprised to see us draft 2 Tackles though.
  25. Ravens likely to have rookie cap of around $6M, but because of Rule of 51, will only need around $1-1.5M in overall Cap space to sign picks Brian McFarland (@RavensSalaryCap) https://twitter.com/RavensSalaryCap/status/315944492698071040
