  6. As we await a week filled with speculation about Ben Roethlisberger’s playing status for Sunday’s AFC North showdown between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens, it’s pretty remarkable that the latest chapter in this rivalry could be played without Roethlisberger, Hines Ward and Ray Lewis on the field. It will be the first time since the final game of the 2007 regular season when none of the three have been in the game. That day, Lewis was sidelined with hand and back injuries while Roethlisberger and Ward were rested for the playoffs. That being said, I think it would be foolish to count out Roethlisberger from this game until Steelers coach Mike Tomlin officially declares him out. I think we’ve all seen this movie before with Roethlisberger to jump to any conclusions. View the full article

  11. Quarterback sustained an SC sprain in throwing shoulderPittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said today that his quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger , suffered a right shoulder sprain in last night’s 16-13 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs and his status is “questionable” for Sunday night’s showdown against the Ravens at Heinz Field. 13. Baltimore Sun sports staff talks about Steelers quarterback's status heading into Sunday's game against RavensAaron Wilson: This is a serious setback for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Ben Roethlisberger is the heart and soul of this football team, the escape artist who makes Houdini-like moves to extend plays and deliver the football down the field. He's tough, smart and talented. With unconfirmed reports out now that the quarterback has a separated throwing shoulder and is likely out for Sunday's game against the Ravens and possibly longer, this changes the equation dramatically for the Steelers heading into this AFC North showdown. 14. Baltimore Sun sports staff talks about Steelers quarterback's status heading into Sunday's game against RavensMatt Vensel: The Steelers will probably string this out until Sunday night, but I think it's simple: If Ben Roethlisberger plays Sunday night at Heinz Field, the Steelers will win. If he doesn't, the Ravens will. More than ever, Pittsburgh's most valuable player is Roethlisberger, who is having arguably the best season of his career. View the full article
