Ravens tag Tucker

According to Tucker's agent, Ravens put the franchise tag on their FG kicker which will cost

them around $4.5M, the going rate for the top kickers. This will prevent him from leaving for at

least one more year. Teams can only do this to restricted FAs. Next year Tuck will be

unrestricted FA according to the CBA.

 

 

Tucker is probably the best kicker in the

game. His kickoffs alone are worth the money and he's money in the bank on FG tries, especially

clutch FG tries with clocking winding down.

This is a good move by the Ravens.

Now that he's got a taste of what top 5 money is like, the Ravens will offer him a deal in the top 5.

Nerves set in at this point..."What if I get injured this year?" What if I loose some leg strength....my percentage drops...my wife might dump me!... "

 

Let him go round and round with that in his head for the next month, then he'll wise up and take the guaranteed money.

They have til 15 July to offer a contract which is what they did with Suggs and Rice.

 

That $4.5M is up from his min wage of $800Gs and he got married last year so it comes at the

right time, especially if a kid is on the way.
