Workshops, panel discussions, and special performances will focus on Restore Our Earth™ — we’ll cover natural processes, emerging green technologies, and innovative thinking that can restore the world’s ecosystems.

More topics will include:

  • Climate and environmental literacy
  • Climate restoration technologies
  • Reforestation efforts
  • Regenerative agriculture
  • Equity and environmental justice
  • Citizen science
  • Cleanups, and more.

World climate leaders, grassroots activists, nonprofit innovators, thought leaders, industry leaders, artists, musicians, influencers, and the leaders of tomorrow will come to push us towards a better world.

I watched this from 12:00pm until 6 pm and learned so much.

The kids know. They know they have no future.  Far too few adults know or care.

There is hope. The solutions exist. We know how to change and create the needed technology. We know how to correct the soil conditions for farming. If you are not aware, the earth will run out of farmable soil in 60 years if nothing changes. 40% of the food that is harvested is wasted.

We know the earths cooling system (the Artic Ice) is going away rapidly. There will be serious ramifications.

The financial sector is already turning to green investments. This will force change. Where the money goes, we go.

Biden made powerful commitments today that must be kept or ....we're done. But he made them with conviction which is huge. Congress mustjoin in the fight to stop and existential event from coming to fruition.

We have this decade, until 2030, to avoid catastrophe. Biden's plan is ambitious, but not ambitious enough....yet it's a huge step in the right direction.

We lost 4 valuable years. Fortunately many states began to take action and measures towards global warming so all was not lost.

So true................unfortunateloy....

%7BNow comes the hard part.

President Biden’s summit meeting on climate change ended on Friday with the United States promising to reduce its dependence on fossil fuels and help other countries do the same. But the real test will be Washington’s ability to steer the rest of the world toward cleaner energy fast enough to avert catastrophe. The limits of America’s influence were clear. Australia, India, Indonesia, Mexico and Russia made no new pledges to cut down on oil, gas or coal. Some countries said that they were being asked for sacrifices even though they had contributed little to the problem, and that they needed money to cope.....Biden’s Climate Summit Sets Up a Bigger Test of American Power (msn.com)

Money is at the heart of it. And there, the pledges at the summit left many people underwhelmed. The United States said it would double climate finance for developing countries to $5.7 billion a year. That represents a fraction of what the world needs, Manish Bapna, interim president of the World Resources Institute, said in a statement. It also lags behind many other rich countries, he pointed out, and “does not meet the needs expressed by leaders of vulnerable countries.”

That is all the more important if the United States, along with other Western countries, is to nudge emerging economies to meet their growing energy needs through renewable sources, said Jennifer Tollmann, a Berlin-based policy adviser at the climate research organization E3G. The United States is in a position to push the World Bank to make climate finance a centerpiece of its lending, for instance, and to respond to demands from many countries to ease their debt burdens so they can use their revenues to deal with climate change.

“Statements from various country leaders were very compelling and very clear: ‘We are being left behind. Where is the money?’” Ms. Tollmann said.

That is something the United States must do with its allies in the coming months, Ms. Tollmann said. A failure to raise huge amounts of capital to pay for the effects of climate change is “a risk factor,” she said, for the climate talks in November in Glasgow. That is the deadline for all countries to deliver new climate targets. The current targets are nowhere near what’s sufficient to avert the worst effects of warming.

Not least, the Biden administration’s announcement of $1.2 billion for the Green Climate Fund, which is designed to help poor countries address climate change, was seen by many as a drop in the bucket.

IEA charts a course....

The International Energy Agency, which was founded by rich industrial nations after oil shocks in the 1970s to promote secure and affordable energy supplies, says the world needs to stop drilling for oil and gas right now to prevent a climate catastrophe.

%7B© Shutterstock An oil platform off the coast of Santa Barbara, California run by Exxon Mobil produces crude that is converted to gasoline.

In order to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050, the influential group said in a report Tuesday that investment in new fossil fuel supply projects must stop immediately, and no new coal-fired plants should be approved.

The dramatic recommendations are part of a detailed strategy that the IEA says would result in the world achieving the Paris climate agreement goal of limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius above preindustrial levels.

Why 1.5 degrees? Experts have repeatedly warned that exceeding the threshold will contribute to more extreme weather, greater sea level rise, wildfires, floods and food shortages for millions of people.

To prevent that, the IEA says these milestones must be hit:

  • Immediate stop to new gas and oil projects.
  • No new sales of fossil fuel boilers starting in 2025.
  • Electric vehicles make up more than 60% of car sales by 2030.
  • No sales of new internal combustion engine passenger cars by 2035.
  • The global electricity sector reaches net-zero emissions by 2040.
  • 70% of electricity generation from solar and wind by 2050.

There are major economic benefits to be had, according to the IEA. If the world follows the group's roadmap, annual energy investment would surge to $5 trillion by 2030 from $2.3 trillion in recent years, adding 0.4 percentage points to global GDP growth.
