Baltimore Ravens: Building a trade offer for Jalen Ramsey
tsylvester replied to papasmurfbell's topic in Baltimore Ravens
From what I've been able to find, the offer was real, but the Jags don't think Hurst is better than the tight ends they have and view the Ravens 1st (predicting it to be low) like a high 2nd round pick. -

Maybe, but a 1st, a 2nd and Hurst is insulting any way you look at it and as you said, is far to much for another player -
Mudd = advantage wide outs over dbs. Who ever gets the beat traction for pass rush vs pass block.
-
They have not run the ball consistently, a big run in one game, Lamar in another does not equate to a comfortable running game in the mud.

Wow, that is going to cause some issues in the locker room... I am no fan of Hurst, but jeepers, he gets wind that the team wants to get rid of you.. Yes, who would think that is worth the trade, the Ravens reached for him in the first... He is a 3rd round pick at best -
Takes away speed, could limit Lamar's running..... It may help to keep the score close, but I still see a blow out by KC

Baltimore Ravens: Building a trade offer for Jalen Ramsey

I would write off the Titans game, imagine trying to focus knowing you could be traded any minute. His teammates all spoke up and want him to stay, hope he changes his mind Even so, while I know he is a great player, I hope this team does not trade for him. If they were that desperate, they could have had Fitzpatrick for less value. -
I don't see any team touching him now. How does he even prove his innocence, if he is innocent?

I agree, as does Reid and Roman. Kubs knew that when he coached here, Flacco is a pocket passer to fix the line, get the ball out quickly. Arizona is trying it with Murray, the spread offense, that is what Don Coryell did with Foust, air raide.... The West Coast worked best for Montana, Young had to sit and learn to use his talents to fit it, even then, it was expanded to fit what he did best. Even Cleveland is trying to mold an offense to fit Mayfield, quick paced, spread out the defense, wear them out aide line to sideline makes reading them easier for a young qb. Tennessee tried to fit Mariotta into a form, they used his running sparingly to keep him safe, but never addressed the line issues so a spread offense can't work; thus 17 sacks in two games and still many questions about his ability. Put him in a different offense he might work. The key here is, defenses adapted to Kaep and this type of offense Roman runs, but mostly because they forced him to throw and he never developed accuracy nor touch. That will be the key going forward for Lamar, will he be a Steve Young, a Cam Newton, or a Collin Kaepernik? Time will tell. So far, 70% completions, 50% down field, but other than that loaf of bread he gently hit Brown with down field to seal the win last week, we still have not seen him make deep outs, deep comeback routes outside of the numbers.

That did not take long. I serious think this young man has bi polar based on his actions... Truly sad all the way around. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/27662788/patriots-cut-ties-antonio-brown

Baltimore Ravens: Building a trade offer for Jalen Ramsey
tsylvester replied to papasmurfbell's topic in Baltimore Ravens
Smith would be, I think, a great safety, far better fhan Jefferson. But he can't stay healthy, and costs too much... -
Right? Even back then, it was usually a runningback winning the award. Now we have Cam,(injured), Mariotta,(some questions) Mayfield, Murray, Lamar, Winston (some questions) Now it seems teams are willing to change their system to fit the qb, rather than the old way of fitting the qb to the system. Maybe that will mean more former heismans will have a career in the NFL, contrary to what has been
-
It would be nice if they both go on to have careers like that, real nice. Tell me, can you remember the last time the league had (I know Mahomes did not win a heisman) this many former Heisman quarterbacks starting in the NFL? This year has to be a record and they all, contrary to that award, appear to be legit NFL QB's, albeit it is early...

Baltimore Ravens: Building a trade offer for Jalen Ramsey
tsylvester replied to papasmurfbell's topic in Baltimore Ravens
I get it, but adding Ramsey does not improve this defense as much as some may think. Jefferson is still a liability in coverage, he is still getting lost. The linebackers still can not cover and are inconsistent in their zone drops. We can debate the miscommunication that continues to plague this defense going all the back to when Ray & Ed left; but it is there, was there when Mosely & Weddle made the calls, is there now. I'm not aure who is to blame for this since it has gone on for years, even through a coach change, maybe it is too much freelance? In any event, Ramsey is not going to fix that, sure, he may lock down a side, or a receiver, maybe.... -
Baltimore Ravens: Building a trade offer for Jalen Ramsey

Talent is not the issue, my point is they paid and are still paying for corners. So you think if Lamar keeps this pace up he is going to play under his rookie deal for 2, 3 years? We can say just lock him down early but we know it is up to the player. His game is 50% pass, 50 run. One injury and his career is all but done and because he runs, that puts him at higher risk especially with his size, Cam Newton, Andrew Luck come to mind. My pount about the receivers is that we still have no idea if they will pan out, if they don't and you use 2 or more draft picks on a corner, you are screwed. Sure, it takes 3 years or so to know for sure, but by the end of this year we should have a good indication. Either way, if Brown does pan out, there is another boat load of cap money, and you can bet, if he has a 1,000 yard season in either this or the next year, he is not going to play for his rookie deal in year 3..... -
Baltimore Ravens: Building a trade offer for Jalen Ramsey
tsylvester replied to papasmurfbell's topic in Baltimore Ravens
I'm not sure about this move. Sure, he is under contract for the next two years, but he thinks he is the best corner in the league, and them he sees what it will cost a team to trade for him, atleast a 1 & 3rd, then what? A 1 year rental, or do you go cap strapped next year to give him the most money ever for a corner? They did that with C-Mac & Smith, don't forget they will have to pay Lamar, if he pans out, over $100 mil, most of it guarenteed, in a year or two as well... They have the youth and talent on the team if they can stay healthy. They have the draft picks to keep supplying the secondary and offensive line for the next few years. Yes this league is weak this year due to injuries & retirement, so keep what you have, build wisely. If Lamar was only going to be good for 2 games then you are stuck with no draft picks, and an expensive corner. Or what about the highly drafted rookie wide outs? Again, it has only beed 2 games, how do we know they will pan out, stay healthy? Too many questions about this team and we haven't talked about the weakness on defense at linebacker, to make a move this big for a player, while very good, drove a brinx truck to training camp. Who demanded a trade because he didn't like doing things his head coach's way .... No thanks -
There were some technical issues with the board, all fixed now thanks to Dee's hard work.
-
I know that fix wasn't eaasy, well done and than you for this board!

I had 3 questions going into last week's game. 1) Can the offense keep clicking? The answer we knkw know is; somewhat 2)Can Lamar continue to see the field, hit receivers timely, accurately? The answer was; mostly. 3) Can the defense fix the comminication issues that crept in, in the secondary? The answer is; Nope. So I pose those same questions this week, if the offense can keep clicking, & Lamar can keep growing, this team has a shot to play well enough to win. However, as we saw the last time these two teams played, the defense let them down with numerous issues in the secondary. I don't want to hear they need time to adjust because of a few new players. No, it is only one new player, Thomas, but the same communication issues as the past few years; players forgetting which aide is playing zone, which is man, if they are all in zone or man.... You can only defend against an accurate qb so much, he is going to make a few plays. But there is no reason to have all those uncontested pass completions, so many wide open recievers; none. Should be a fun game to watch!

Dolphins want to beach them selves after game

Yep, a fire sale, not sure that their plan is, but that coach has to go. -
Pats added a $20 mil team option if he is still on the team next year... Wow
