  1. So CJ can stop and sit down on the field and have a nap, wake up, and run for 70 yards without forward progress being called? Are there no longer rules? Are you kidding me?

I say the Ravens' offense just stay on the field. I don't think the refs can keep track of whether or not they're supposed to be there anyway.

  2. You can disagree all you want, MD cannot and will not compete in the Big 10 ,12 or whatever they think they are in, and today's game was a fucking joke, ohio st played with them

That's the point. They don't need to compete in the Big 10, especially not immediately. Being in the Big 10 itself makes them a better and more attractive sell.

  3. Easy explanation. The donors and alumni aren't putting any money up right now. They make the decisions, and with the new complex looming, they're making this one with their checkbooks.

If the athletic department had its way, Edsall would absolutely finish out the season, especially with the extension fresh on our minds. But it doesn't work that way.

  4. Getting rid of (some/many) guns will stop much of the violence. There are 350m privately owned guns in this nation of 315m people... Highest rate in the world. Which correlates strongly to having the highest murder rate in the advanced world.

I fail to see the correlation.

Switzerland has the fourth-highest number of firearms per capita (US being first), and their total does not include the fact that many civilians own government-issued firearms that aren't calculated.

Switzerland also has 6% of the number of firearm-related homicides per capita that the US does.

That is a culture problem. Not a quantity of firearms problem.

I am entirely and in every way for more organized gun laws that include background checks and verifications. However, a civilian that passes all of those checks should have the right to own as many firearms as they please, frankly.

  5. Jumminy Christmas 4.5 back in the wild card an Houston is crashing and burning

But unfortunately they have Oakland next, so they'll right that ship. And the Twins and Angels play each other, so we won't make up any ground on at least one of them.

  6. Trolling? Im just reading. I was accused of trolling Tony Pinkos RSR board.

Well, they hit me first and I hit them back a lot harder. It's the way I fight in person

and on the net. Hell, I just had a jealous cop after me after he found out about his

    wife and me.

I told the wife I was going after him

and hit him before he hit me and I still had a sniper's rifle I took deer hunting

years ago. I found out where their house was and could have hit him in the

spinal chord from across the street and he never would have been able to

f**k her again much less walk. Now that's trolling.

Finally, she said he wasn't coming after me. I said he's not as dumb as I thought he was.

    :mello:

  7. The discussion should be less about how insane a Trump presidency would be and more about how few to none of the other options from either party make much more sense.

Political campaigns are increasingly run via shock value and headlines, because that is what we as a country increasingly consume as our news and education. That is why Trump is leading, and I'm sorry, but it's not just because of the old white Republicans. It's because of all of us. When he says things like "I'm going to be the best jobs president ever", we believe him, because it's a powerful statement and we want to believe it. And we have so little desire to understand the evidence suggesting that it won't be the case that we don't collectively bother trying.

That is why things will not change when the older generation dies off. This is the political landscape that we have created for ourselves, and it's not going to go away.

  8. No really Force. While he took one extra step than a normal field goal attempt, he did not get a running start as a kick off would.

Using a tee alone gets the kicker further distance than having a holder simply because of positioning. And, more importantly, the ball would have been blocked at the LOS regardless. Plenty of NFL kickers can make this long distance kick without considering the LOS.

Look at this guy kicking for height and distance. His 80 yd tries come up just short because he's actually adjusting for a game situation. His kicks are otherwise the same as the other link.

Anyway, that's why I call that a kickoff, not a field goal.

  9. But do previous strikes matter in punishment? They do in virtually all other circumstances - NFL and otherwise.

Also in the Vikings/Panthers story, I'm pretty sure both teams were warned and nothing else because both teams were warming the balls. Thus, competitive advantage is eliminated.

The Chargers' towel issue is a little stranger to me, and I remember being annoyed with it at the time

  10. The team has no way to challenge the punishment. Only players can challenge their punishments on these things.

And while people say, "they came down hard on the organization," we also have to step back and say that the employees involved are a part of the organization. Their behavior is the responsibility of the organization at large and the organization at large takes on some share of the burden of the failures of any individual member.

That's not true. The team has every right to appeal, as well.
