Yeah they should be slotted. These guys have done nothing. The only ones you feel bad for to a degree are RB's and LB's that are low picks and turn out to be studs. Their shelf life is so short they could burn it all out on their rookie deal.

Until they see what they have they are not cutting him. His contract does not hook them until the start of the season. They can cut him in camp if he doesn't perform.
