Mason officially retired Monday afternoon at the Under Armour Performance Center in Owings Mills, Md., ending a 15-year career that included eight years in Tennessee, six in Baltimore and one split between the New York Jets and Houston Texans.

Derrick Mason announced his retirement from the NFL on Monday, and he went out as a member of the Ravens. General manager Ozzie Newsome and coach John Harbaugh joined Mason in the auditorium at the Under Armour Performance Center as he said goodbye. The Ravens reported this morning to the Under Armour Performance Center -- I’m still getting used to the new name for their Owings Mills practice facility -- for the start of mandatory minicamp. They took physicals, and on an entertaining aside, strong safety Bernard Pollard was hoping he didn’t have to turn his head and cough .

Terrell Suggs is back in the Ravens’ facility. The reigning Defensive Player of the Year returned Tuesday morning for mandatory minicamp, the first time he’s been in the Under Armour Performance Center since suffering an Achilles tendon injury. And Suggs came back without crutches.
