Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs, who partially tore his right Achilles tendon in late April, has denied an ESPN report that he sustained the injury while playing basketball in Arizona. He claims the injury occurred during a conditioning drill. Either way, Ravens coach John Harbaugh said that at this point, the cause is “not relevant.”

The Ravens just got off the field after today’s voluntary offseason team activity. Cornerback Jimmy Smith and left tackle Bryant McKinnie were present after missing last Wednesday’s practice, but 19 players, including second-year players Jah Reid and Pernell McPhee, were not. Every day that Courtney Upshaw walks into the Ravens’ practice facility in Owings Mills, he steps on a scale. The six or seven pounds shed since the Ravens selected him in the second round of the NFL draft is proof of the hard work the outside linebacker has put in since late April.
