bearcat7777 Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 Son is going to MD dental school in the fall. Recommendation on where he should try to live, hopefully close enough so he can walk.
dc. Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 I assume you mean UMD downtown? Lots of great options there, though not cheap - Redwood, Sail Cloth, etc are all loft style apartments in big old warehouses that are very cool. Across MLK the UMD BioPark is developing a nice area (technically part is in 'pigtown' as we call it). There are some nice new apartments coming up there but also lots of rowhomes being renovated for rent or sale. I have several friends living in that area. It's not quite as close as the others, but you can walk it. Better yet, Baltimore's new free shuttles go straight in from that growing area to the university. Speaking of which, the N-S shuttle (the other was the E-W) would make it possible to live all the way up in Penn North or even Charles Village (Hopkins). Again, neither is cheap, but both are great, safer places and everything is easy to access. And lots of options along the whole strip.
deeshopper Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 Could live in Columbia and take the commuter bus into town. Drops off and picks up right in front of the dental school. I used to work there! (Happy birthday DC!)
cravnravn Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 My home is for sale, about an hour commute to baltimore..

Cravn I don't think he would like the purple curtains.
