He raises, then downplays, role his gay-rights activism might have played; team spokesman: 'We have always been respectful of Brendon's opinions'

In New York, where he was to be honored at Thursday night's Straight for Equality Gala, Brendon Ayanbadejo suggested to a local newspaper reporter that one of the reasons that he was cut by the Ravens was his outspoken advocacy for same-sex marriage — a suggestion he later distanced himself from on Twitter.

I'll accept his twitter response as his true thoughts and feelings.

I thought this could become a hot issue and team distraction during the playoffs, but I was wrong.

It wasn't.

 

The truth is basically what he said on twitter. He's 1 year younger than Ray Lewis and it's time. The Ravens can get younger, less expensive players for special teams while they develop them for the offense or defense.
